    Nacogdoches, Texas 1980's great. Best dance party, fun, good time band party ever! If they played, the joint was going to jump.

    What a great band. I went to see them many times at Rockefeller’s club in Houston. My friend and I could barely hear after listening to them. Rockefeller’s was such a great club. It used to be a beautiful bank. We had such great times there. So glad I found this video of the Dishes music!

    Dr. G's Bryan, Texas - (1984-85) what a fun band. I have this on vinyl autographed by the band. Chants of "Walrus! Walrus!".

    I used to hear The Dishes at Corky's in Houston (Montrose area) in the early 1980s. They were a very unique, special, and entertaining band. To this day, I believe that if they'd gotten just one big, lucky break, they could have been stars.

    • @et2petty
      @et2petty 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hoolihan's also. I used to see em mostly at Corky's. I saw Jim when played with Michael Merculia (misspelled?)

    Loved seeing them in the 80s, especially Girls with Glasses ("I like to hang around at Rice...the look that makes me look twice...). Am I the only one that thought their keyboardist looked just like Veronica when she played keyboard in the Archie comics?

    i wish someone had a video of the Dishes playing the Walrus they could post. They usually closed the night out with Jimmy playing lap steel guitar for the multiple Cello part. Man what a sound.

    Is their cassette-only follow-up online anywhere? The one with two songs co-recorded with David Bean of the Judy's? My tape blew apart many years ago and Dickie M. demands $150 apiece for copies! (Probably more by now!)
    (BTW, the two bonus instrumentals were originally released on 12" vinyl under a different name with next to no information given. Why, I have no idea!)

      I didn't mean to unfairly smear the good name of Dickie Malone! No, you didn't try to charge me that much. Someone else (I can't recall who) told me they had asked you for one and that was how much you wanted - I'm guessing the person was a jerk and you maybe just did not want to deal with them, or else their claim about the $150 was just full of... mayonnaise!

      The Noise, was the 12". I have it. Pete Falcone wasn't on drums. Billy Block was the drummer,,,,,, apologies if I got his name wrong. Don't know if Barbara D was on it either. I sold a dozen of em at SW Record n Tape on 14011 Memorial Dr. Dickie brought them in, an Billy Gibbons bought four of em. ZZ's road Mgr's little brother told me a week later that ZZ Top was rehearsing Walk Don't Run and Pipeline at their rehearsal space near I 10 and Wilcrest.......Billy Gibbons and I remarked at the fantastic sound of the reverb on the Ventures tunes. Sounded like bubble up out of the bathtub, whilst eating Peyote buttons !!!!!
