  • This is my first time making a guitar. I chose to make it out of a single piece of scrap 2x4 I had in my workshop. It's not perfect but I like the way it came out. I had a general idea how I wanted to make this guitar but in reality I adjusted as I progressed during the build.

I like the overall concept of using old barn wood, with torch and relic job ( worm holes) knots in wood, and overall, looking like it came from a whisky barrel from a pirate ship

Keep sanding if you have the time would have been selable for good money .. even if you over sand the sleek rounded look is so sweet

I noticed you did not make belly cut or arm contour. I think more time could be spent on sanding body in order to remove jig saw marks, or at least use the router with a template. remember a regular 2x4 is not 2x4. it is 1 3/4 by 3 3/4, so body is on the thin side....

It's pretty solid. It functions but its more of a display piece.

What type of wood was those 2x4s. It looks like they were very white and might not be regular pine.

Why not just use the body that you used as template

If you build another body in the future, they actually sell router templates for everything you routed by eye. It's way easier that way and the results will be outstanding. 👍
