Everyone please stand for the Linux National Anthem.
I was somewhere between middle school and high school in the 90s, and just fell in love with !Cube's particular sound, first through the Gateways demo, and then this.
Absolute beast of a track!
I like how nobody mentions the clarity of the samples used in this track, it's insane how clear they are!
It's a 748KB XM that isn't 10 minutes long. That sample/length ratio provides no excuse :P
16-bit samples are still very clear lol
@@BananaPhoPhilly Yeah but most of the time they're pretty crusty
Yeah, this song sounds very clean
that's the same thing i was thinking!
Heh! Brings back some sweet memories of the first time I ever started making music. It was with some old tracker that had vst support and a red background. I had no idea what I was doing back then. What a blast from the fucking past this is.
One of my favorite tracked songs. And my first and most beloved player.
But how could you not use "wuerfel" mode?!
(Cannot remember how that is spelled.)
Thanks for the upload.
this is simply amazing
Oh my good , ia raving until the universe will rip and transfloating to another dimension / Universe´2
a very nice track
Almost has a faster Robert Miles sound in some ways.
yeah, kinda reminds me of Red Zone part 1

Woow!!
that's incredibly good but why does it cut off at the end? Does it have a loop marker or something?
yeah, that's the loop point
WHERE'S MY FUCKING FLAK CANNON?!!!
Is this trance or techno?
GOA
Trancey
whenever i hear this i immediately think
...heated unreal tournament match-
Damn, you're right. Use this as music for your custom UT map, and nobody would bat an eye. It'd fit in seamlessly with the official soundtrack.
Original OST was made in ImpulseTracker if I'm not mistaken, could be he's using the samples from the songs, they are indeed very similar.
I was thinking this too.
I love everything about this, I wish I was around at the time to experience the demoscene at its peak
There are still some amazing tunes coming out of the Demoscene, but yes, I think we all miss the good old days of the Demo Scene in the 80's and 90's.

WHAT THE FUCK THAT GOES HARD
Good work. Definitely the sound to the end of a decade.
Sounds like something from Unreal but isnt
But its also Finnish! :D
If i remember so, one map for mod Monster hunt in UT99 used map Terraniux and used this track, but still its not official Unreal song, and yet it have atmosphere of Unreal
@@tedwink6652 tracker music has a distinct sound to it even if its not straylight's work. It makes me happy tracker music is still being made to this day.
Unreal Tournament 99 vibes here, so nostalgic, thank you!
I just died and went to heaven. Wow. Takes me back to the 90’s.
I miss going to GOA and psy shows. Even after I got sober I was afraid I couldn't club anymore, and most of the time that is true I can't go back in those places it gives me cold sweats, but trance shows....Do places like that still exist or did the pandemic stop all that? I dunno anymore, certainly stopped me....But yeah man nothing better than listening to some good trance on good speakers with some good people.
this was made in 1998?!
ahead of their time!
@@trippyulyanov2012 goa trance is like early 90s. It's kind of the peak of trance if in a lot of ways. if anything we've been going downhill. Idk maybe trance is still cool I stopped listening to it after I quit worshipping the devil.

cubic player was my first player and the best. it had the best sound engine. i'd like to read the sourcecode :)
im your first player?? :>
When I get my windows 98 computer I’m going to try cubic played out lol
@@cwubicpwaywr3367 that's adorable also loud screaming
the source code is available
There's an Open Cubic Player out there. I found it in the Linux Mint Software Manager. It supports S3M files with Adlib instruments, but it unfortunately doesn't support hybrid files with both samples and FM (few programs do). It does support a variety of other Adlib formats (with very hit-and-miss compatibility), though. Some files are just horribly borked. Duke Nukem II's music amusingly plays at about double speed, though otherwise sounds correct.

This sounds a lot better than a lot of music produced and released in 2023 with DAWs that are so advanced that you can literally make anything that you can imagine.
skill issue
Yeah, they only know how to make one thing. MONEY
JA ANTAA KAJAHTAA!
Sounds like "Last Step" by Dubmood.
If it was TempleOS...
Slamming track!
Just looked up Open Cubic Player on the AUR Repositories and installed.
Thanks!
I use arch btw example in the wild
@@frag0638 nope, it's example of windows user skips with "I'm using arch" in every thread where it mentioned that linux repos still have cute and efficient soft from the past.
Don't be jealous or envy. Just get a try, suffer, repeat. After 3rd try you'll learn what comfort is.
I had windows since 3.11 up to 7 and 10. Now I'm writing AI construction framework to rewrite windows-tied software, this is about how bad modern windows is: I make cutting edge breakthrough just to have no necessity in using modern windows.
Never heard this mod before, but it's a great one!
So cool... Is it composed 20 years ago ...?
it came from a parallel dimension where everything doesn't suck. be grateful.
AMAZING track, even for 1998... However my only complaint is that it ends too abruptly. This music is also what they call Goa Trance too.
This reminds me of UT99
Holly f|_|ck !
Red Gravity (author) sounds somewhat alike, check it out, especially Mldnrg album
One could easily mistake this banger trackertune as something to be beaten in high-to-insane difficulty in modern rhythmic games such as notITG, etc....
This is great! Similar to Cube's "Gateways to Jambala" but with a slower start and faster later on.
Acid trance at best!
This brings back good memories...👍
The link to !Cube's website seems to be dead, what a shame.
Matrix 5 OST
2:09 last step by dubmood much?
this one is from 1998, three years before last step🧐
@@Krokussify I noticed they both share the same sample in that timestamp

Excellent mod
this sound very similarly like need for speed 2 menu theme :D :D totaly! :D
It's good, but tempo is too fast. Play at TH-cam 0.75 speed is much better.
Did 2X instead 😈
the weird thing is that this is so similar to modern “fonk” music
Fonk is just a new born child from internet drama, back then techno rave music had variety of sound styles.
*phone, also not enough bass to be similar
