A couple of minor points. A couple of witnesses did come forward at the 1st trial and say they had seen someone somewhat matching the description of the suspect that night in the area. Also the defense team was denied access to any of the physical evidence by the judge during the 1st trial. And for what little it may be worth the writers and producers of the original TV show have steadfastly maintained that they were not inspired by this case.
My absolute favourite page. I work with dogs and you are educating me and only human I hear speaking all day sometimes. thanks for keeping me company and well entertained.
The most detailed account of this case I ever read said that Sam Sheppard's biggest problem was that his version of events "didn't make any frigging sense." And it doesn't. He may not have killed his wife, but he clearly wasn't telling the full truth.
Actually that's kind of contraintuitive. Typically liars forge their lies very well and meticulously. So if everything makes perfect sense, there is very good chance it's fake. If you have super stressed event, of course you would have your memories extremely mangled.
@@PetrSojnek Great point. Also, Sheppard had a head injury (medically attested to have been real, according to other coverage of this story I've seen). If a person woke in the middle of the night to an emergency situation, got knocked on the head at least once (twice, by Sheppard's account) in the first few minutes after waking, then had the shock and trauma of a brutally murdered partner in front of them when their head cleared, and DIDN'T have a fragmented, fuzzy account of events, that would be incredibly suspicious.
I really don't know if he was guilty or not. But not only did Sheppard deserve a fair trial but his dead wife deserved justice and that means you need a fair trial.
I agree, IF the event was actually real! Most of us just ASSume that the media is legit, but in the last few years after Sandy Hook, and 911, I have HUGE doubts about ALL 'event's' legitimacy! Of course the herd beLIEves everything they read, hear and see on TV!

I live one town over from Bay and think of this case every time I pass where the house once stood. As much as I’d like to believe Sam didn’t do it, his description of that night makes little sense. Especially since his watch and other “stolen” items were found hidden in beach wall of his backyard. But honestly no one will ever truly know who did it.
Explain how he did it David when there was someone else's blood in that murder room, the killer being proved to be left handed by the father of forensic science, no scratches or spattered blood on Dr Sam even though hair and fibers were found at Marilyn's fingernails that never matched up with the doctor. His injuries could never be proven as self induced, even though Cuyahoga County prosecutors speculated he purposely fell from the landing platform to the beach. If that's the case then Dr Sam would have had other injuries to his body, not just the back of his neck and face.
The newspapers never told us, nor any books, but only the transcripts of the 1st trial explained Dr Sam's true injuries further when 4 nurses testified his temperature was so cold that they couldn't get a temperature reading. He was shaking so badly that the first x-rays were blurry. He was incontinent from his loss of reflex. His clothes were completely soaked and there were several ounces of sand found in his pockets. The nurses gave him Demorol to calm his shakes and several warming pads were applied to his body and the aperture of the x-ray machine had to be cut by half to produce a decent x-ray.
@@jimsladepoe1275 You think a doctor(A SURGEON) wouldn't have access to blood? He could have staged that along with the "stolen" items. Many people can use both hands to varying degrees. He was scratched up to hell, did you not watch the video? @David I'm not AT ALL convinced the dude was innocent.
If it helps, in the movie Tombstone, Sam Elliott said, "I still got one good arm to hold you with." And I confuse Sam Elliott's name with Sam Shepard's all the time.
Couldn't the brother-in-law have confirmed whether Richard the handyman had stolen the rings from his house? Had he had stolen them before they would never have been in the brother-in-law's possession in the first place. Too late now, but it seems fairly obvious logic to me.

This case is also well known as being one of the most mishandled cases in all aspects.
It's called a FRAME-UP, and not mishandled at all. It happens a LOT!
Dorothy Killgalen is an unsung hero in journalism and justice. Definitely doesn't get the recognition she deserves.
Truth. Smart as hell with unsurpassed deductive reasoning.
They destroyed his life, completely. Whether innocent or guilty the media indirectly killed this man.
FINALLY! Someone who actually GETS it!!!
Simon I just wanted to say, you’re doing a great job and to keep it up
Media deciding someone’s guilt even before a trial? Now where have I heard that before?
I’m a native of the Cleveland area. This was another that’s infamous. There was no doubt in the minds of the greater Cleveland area that that the Fugitive was loosely based on the Sheppard case.
I am too and still remember the local news coverage of it at times
somehow that monologue is funnier when Tony Dinozzo performs it and Ziva has no clue what the hell he's talking about :3
Just came across this channel this morning and now im bingewatching every single one. Looks like im in for a very long binge sesh but I ain't even mad. What im mad about is not finding this channel sooner!! You definitely got a new subscriber today, and im gonna spend every bit of my free time catching up to date on your uploads. Good content! Prosecutor: He can't tell a story and had an affair
Defense: ummm ...
Judge: guilty guilty reeeeeeee
SCOTUS: Are u all drunk? Idiots
Yup! ALL cheaters are MURDERERS!!!!
A lot of people don't know that the movie US Marshals with Tommy Lee and Wesley Snipes is actually a sequel to The Fugitive. The stories are not related but the same team of Marshall's Lee leads in The Fugitive are the same characters/actors in US Marshalls.
Where the hell does WESLEY SNIPES fit in???

Reminds me of the Richard Jewell and the Centennial Park Bombing story.
I knew that this story reminded me of something, except that in the case of Richard Jewell, he even saved people from the blast, but the media still socially executed him :(

I remember this whole thing in the news. You know, Sheppard didn't help much because he acted like a jerk to everyone and all those people talked about him. But most people thought, if Shepard wanted to kill his wife he was smart enough to do it some other way besides a brutal attack. But a lot of people didn't like Sam Sheppard, so it could have been a lot of people.
Holly, 27 years researching MK Ultra tells me it was the window washer. I can't place judgement on any man who went thru what Dr. Sheppard went thru! I know the feeling.
Simon, please! Would love if the newer episodes got into spotify.. I love listening to them while I draw. Please consider uploading there again.
Do one on Desmond Doss... He was a man who saved over 70 wounded soldiers on hacksaw ridge with no weapon
i would love to see that video. he actually crawled off of a stretcher to provide first aid for one of the soldiers and then told the stretcher-bearers to take that man down before coming back for him. he was then awarded the medal of honor for that action.
I own the movie it's one of my personal favorites

I loved the 60's version of the Fugitive. They used to play it on A&E, when A&E was good. Man, I miss that channel.
Yeah! I used to watch that True Crime drama on A&E regularly way back when?
"Investigative Reports" IIRC? With Bill Kurtis.
The fact that he was able to still practice after being found not guilty on the 2nd trial just blows my mind.
Not very well though...

Very good read

I learned a lot about the Sam Shepherd murder trial, thanks again, Simon! Well done indeed!

If you consider each channel to be a different source of income then you can also say that he has many jobs too. This guy is Johnny Sins.
Thanks
A couple of minor points. A couple of witnesses did come forward at the 1st trial and say they had seen someone somewhat matching the description of the suspect that night in the area. Also the defense team was denied access to any of the physical evidence by the judge during the 1st trial. And for what little it may be worth the writers and producers of the original TV show have steadfastly maintained that they were not inspired by this case.
1st RULE in life! NEVER beLIEve anything from Govt. or media! (esp. HollyWEIRD).

Closing in on 2M subs. Congrats!
The most detailed account of this case I ever read said that Sam Sheppard's biggest problem was that his version of events "didn't make any frigging sense." And it doesn't. He may not have killed his wife, but he clearly wasn't telling the full truth.
Yeah, agreed.
@@LucyLynette Thanx for having some COMMON sense! (it snot very common nowadaze)
Never heard this one before. Great presentation! Fascinating stuff.
Why are these videos so addicting?
Perfect timing! Just finished listening to True Crime Garage's episode on this case
Please cover the Jeffery McDonald case. May take more than one episode.
Yes!!
That was ANOTHER more obvious FRAME-UP! I researched it years ago too.
The case was mishandled from the start
Fun fact, WWE wrestler Mick Foley got his finishing move The Mandible Claw from Sam Sheppard after reading about him and how he used it to immobilise his opponents using a nerve hole.
What is the average IQ of wrestling fans? Does it reach double digits yah thiMk? :P
Pretty much all the issues with the news media and court case, occurs now-a-days and much more often.
My dad always told me about this case as a kid...we'd drive past where the house was, I'd always ask him if he thought Sheppard did it, and he told me that its pretty obvious that he did, keep in mind I was about 8 yrs old 🤣🤣🤣

Dr. Sam Sheppard after his retrial became a professional wrestler. The hold that he came up with was known as "The Mandible Claw". It was years later used by Mick "Mankind" Foley, Bray "The Fiend" Wyatt (Windham Rotunda), and Sue Yung (Vannarah Rigs). "Truth is stranger than fiction."
He also married a woman whose sister turned out to be Joseph Goebbels’ wife. Couple weird turns of events in his life after Marilyn’s death
@@Hanna-nv3du Correct. His second wife was Ariane Tebbenjohanns, who was Magda Goebbels sister. His third wife was the daughter of his wrestling trainer and tag team partner, Walter Stickland.
Man I was just about to comment the same thing until I saw your comment. It's a real strange story
I scrolled down to see if anyone else had mentioned this before I posted it. Well done!
He did that because there was no other way he could make a living; bc Gerber had everyone believing he was guilty. He didn't want to; but it was the only option he had. Of course, he was always a "heel"; and the abuse he suffered from crowds never ceased.
I’m impressed with your list of source material. You really do your research, very unusual. Well done, great channel
I often get the facts of this case mixed up with those involving Dr. Jeffery MacDonald...they are very similar, at least to me.
Great video, Simon and crew!
It's the white guy with an MD syndrome. Happens all the time.
Me too Susan! Both doctors were framed of course. I need to refresh on McDonald tho! I remember some story about drugged up hippies doing it? There is SO MUCH info that is DELIBERATELY omitted from us of course!
Very late on watching this video but better late than never! I would love to see you do a video on Dr. Kevorkian!
Framed, then?
He was not framed. He likely did it. His story doesn’t make sense.

It's usually the husband. Still possibly was. Glad forensics has improved so much! Even if too late for this case.
“I’ve got another channel”
Isn’t that an understatement
No one armed man? How well I remember the tv show, The Fugitive. We were GLUED to our TV for several years. David Janssen did a great job.
Narrator:
"Tuesday, September 5th. The day the running stopped." One of the best programs on TV in that era.
If it helps, in the movie Tombstone, Sam Elliott said, "I still got one good arm to hold you with." And I confuse Sam Elliott's name with Sam Shepard's all the time.
The Fugitive inspired generations of screenwriters.
Couldn't the brother-in-law have confirmed whether Richard the handyman had stolen the rings from his house? Had he had stolen them before they would never have been in the brother-in-law's possession in the first place.
Too late now, but it seems fairly obvious logic to me.
Dorothy Kilgallen would interesting person to a future Biographics video on
Murderers are so few and far between Eberling committing murder afterwards convinces me it was him, and the fact he had her jewellery. .
IIRC, Eberling was conning older rich women out of their $$$ and killing them, yet a prominent doctor who took an oath to do no harm was convicted instead? No brainer for me! In the 50s some doctors used to actually help people, but now they are almost entirely dope dealers!
