Mid to Iate 2000's started to rely on the tempo and rhythm and even the hook became the driving force behind the popular songs. It's also why most of the artist and their songs sound the same. Granted, this is just my opinion for whatever that's worth.

For me the 90's and 2000's songs almost seemed like they were trying to tell you a story. Especially, the late 90's. Mid to Iate 2000's started to rely on the tempo and rhythm and even the hook became the driving force behind the popular songs. It's also why most of the artist and their songs sound the same. Granted, this is just my opinion for whatever that's worth.
