    Pro Tennis Point Analysis | Where To Aim Inside Out Forehands

    1. When returning serve, time your split step so you’re in the air as they hit, land after they hit, and aim mostly down the middle
    2. If you move back to run around your backhand to hit a forehand, hit cross court
    3. When your opponent hits weak down the line, hit strong into open court and move forward
    4. Practice volleying behind your opponent as they recover toward the middle

    Excellent Ryan, I'm dealing with a righty spin artist right now. Very easy to lose yourself in what ifs, so review of fundamentals is invaluable.

    Great overall video, and I really appreciate the split step detail. I consider myself to be pretty advanced, but it turns out I've been split stepping early - I've been trying to land when my opponent makes contact. Thanks!

    Apart from conveying singles strategy an excellent explanation of timing of split step. Would you plan on making footwork drills for beginners anytime in future?

      When I was coached back in the mid 70's I remember our first day at camp our instructors told us to leave our tennis gear in our cabins because we weren't going to need it. Why? We did nothing but focus on footwork and movement for the entire day and then it was a focus for the rest of camp. Yeah, it was that important.

    Two things I will add about Rendy's play. Unless you can hit consistently a quality inside in forehand, especially a strong one off the back foot, this play shouldn't be considered. The other component that would allow a player to make such a risky play is only if they're good at moving and consistently hitting good shots on the run.
    They're still risky plays at the end of the day but having certain attributes does increase the chances of it succeeding. Quality of opponent matters too.

    Hi coach. Can you please explain inner and outer groundstrokes. Thanks in anticipation. Love from India

    • @2MinuteTennis
      @2MinuteTennis  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Jasdeep. Can you describe what you mean? I don't know what inner and outer ground strokes are...

    • @jasdeepsingh9575
      @jasdeepsingh9575 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@2MinuteTennis It would be hard for me to explain without a picture. But lets try.
      To understand this lets take an example of a match between me and villain as my opponent. Villain hits the ball in a direction such that , when villain just hits the ball, ball position w.r.t me is left ( I am talking only of horizontal positions). Then the ball crosses the net, falls on my side and now its my turn to hit the ball. During this instant ball's position w.r.t me is right .In short, ball passes from my left side to right side. This type of groundstroke is called outer or outside groundstroke
      When ball is on my same side during its intial position and final position of the rally its called inner or inside groundstroke.

    • @2MinuteTennis
      @2MinuteTennis  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Do you mean directionals?

    • @jasdeepsingh9575
      @jasdeepsingh9575 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@2MinuteTennis Exactly. To define in physics terms, relative velocity of ball is less than the real speed with which the ball is hit in inside groundstroke and more relative velocity in outside groundstroke.

    If Randy wants to win a point, he needs to hit hard to close forehand side line of Marat.. I think he wants but not enough lucky Randy🎾

    Good solid content but, at 15+ minutes, maybe you need to rename your channel something besides '2 minute tennis'. Personally, I find that 15 minute tennis instruction videos is too long for a single viewing. Of course you could simply rerun the video, but I think it more effective to keep these videos to around 8 minutes maximum. That is, at least for me, bite size instruction. :-)

      Totally agree, video felt overly lengthy, and the serving bit and split step were off-topic. Around 5-8 mins would be perfect and still get the main points across, which for me were:
      Be wary of inside in going to opponent's forehand and leaving the cross too open
      Consider hitting behind the opponent (IMO this is best against fast opponents)
