Hello! Watching 2yrs later. Love the video and the explanations given! Single male with a dog here who buys scratch groceries and this helped me store and save my chard for my dog and I!

Swiss chard was my father's favorite grains I love mustard grades he really loves Swiss chard and those stems that you would put in your bag what he would do Is with them he would cut them
2 to 3" long. Then he would make an egg batter with garlic and some Italian seasoning. Then he would Put 3 sometimes 4 of those little sticks together in the egg batter scoop it out and put it in a frying Pan with Olive oil oh my goodness after they cooked on both sides you can eat them with a fresh tomato you can put them in a sandwich or eat them just like they are. Delish. Now I'm going to get some Swiss chard from my sons garden and going to fry some up for me.

I always forget about freezing before canning, great idea.

Linda, Have you tried Neem Oil for the leaf miners, etc. Sevin works good, also, if you're not freaked out over safe chemicals.

I would love to see a video on canning Swiss chard… I can it in quarts but I have major siphoning issues… but it cans beautifully in pints… my husband wants me to can it in quarts. The NCFHP says you need 4 lbs per quart jar… I can’t see how that’s possible??

Thanks! I have quite a patch of Chard to do something with in the garden. My kale was hit by Swede Midge so Chard is my greens for this year, at least. Any thoughts on canning it in chicken broth or the like?

It is a bit weird to eat the chard like that. How else can you cook it?
