I honestly don't understand why some of SEGA's staff wouldn't know how to wield this instead of mimicking the Genesis sound chip. Also, this part here at 2:14 kinda reminds me of Tiny Toons for some reason.
well, game companies (especially the ones that stuck around for so long) usually scan the corporate archives before searching anywhere else. they may have found the preset SMPS instruments, but they couldn't use the old software from back then (due to incompatibilities with modern hardware i assume) so they had to look on the internet for a more modern aproach, (probably) a VST that emulates the OPN2 + PSG combo of the sega genesis, this is because the composers at sega aren't the same ones that coded the music in the old games and definetly _didn't_ use trackers before, so they had to find something that works with midi, something they're more familiar with. and that's what they landed upon and used for the OST. tl;dr: they checked the archives and used VSTs because they have regular composers, not tracker musicians / tech wizards.
This is truly a better version of that special stage theme from superstars, but on steroids! I wish this genesis version of the song was the original. Great job btw. 👌🏼👌🏼👌🏼👌🏼

@@heckett_main Well that's a pile of stinky fish. They REALLY have to work this out unless we get another unfavorable soundfont hits of Sonic 4.
@ZZtheDark maybe if they hire chiptune composers there may be a way to fix this
@@heckett_main Or even learn from said chiptune composers as well. Who says they can't learn new things on the fly?
If Sonic 3D Blast (Genesis) had Bonus Stages from checkpoint rings, this would fit perfectly.
Ohh, this is way too good, haha. I love that Classic sound, it really makes me imagine/remember playing Sonic as a kid.
certified banger
never heard anyone doing a remix of the sonic superstars special stages
🔥🔥🔥
