I studied in College of Immaculate Conception in Cabanatuan City, where the Luna's death spot can be found. Everyday a lot of students pass by there and me personally I kinda ignore the historical importance of that place, however after I had watched the movie of Artikulo Uno : Heneral Antonio Luna, I felt mixed emotions like awe and sadness at the same time knowing how the General suffered during his last moments on that spot, but Im definitely couldn't be prouder knowing that a brave Filipino General stood up on his principles and fought for the Filipinos' right for independence.
My friends and I often debate about this. Luna had a ton of enemies. One theory we came up with is that Luna's enemies teamed up (Mabini was very much a guy who was cordial with Luna but sort of despised him in his own ways and really didn't share much of Luna's warlike attitude but saw it necessary, the cabinet and some generals really despised Luna and even Aguinaldo's mom saw him as a threat.) to bring him down. Aguinaldo wasn't aware of the thing happening until it was too late. The only one who had access to the presidential seal and the presidential line to all communications besides the president was the prime minister which is Mabini. We thought that perhaps he sent it, the soldiers making sure Luna and his company was there and even Aguinaldo's mom was there to ensure that everything happened according to plan. It might be some imagining of mine or perhaps maybe we'll never know. But its just an interesting theory.

Luna, Antonio Cojuangco, whom her brother Melecio adopted. Her brother’s son Jose was the father of Corazon Aquino. In short, Gen. Luna made the Cojuangcos rich and control PH politics and economy.

I studied in College of Immaculate Conception in Cabanatuan City, where the Luna's death spot can be found. Everyday a lot of students pass by there and me personally I kinda ignore the historical importance of that place, however after I had watched the movie of Artikulo Uno : Heneral Antonio Luna, I felt mixed emotions like awe and sadness at the same time knowing how the General suffered during his last moments on that spot, but Im definitely couldn't be prouder knowing that a brave Filipino General stood up on his principles and fought for the Filipinos' right for independence.
My friends and I often debate about this. Luna had a ton of enemies. One theory we came up with is that Luna's enemies teamed up (Mabini was very much a guy who was cordial with Luna but sort of despised him in his own ways and really didn't share much of Luna's warlike attitude but saw it necessary, the cabinet and some generals really despised Luna and even Aguinaldo's mom saw him as a threat.) to bring him down. Aguinaldo wasn't aware of the thing happening until it was too late. The only one who had access to the presidential seal and the presidential line to all communications besides the president was the prime minister which is Mabini. We thought that perhaps he sent it, the soldiers making sure Luna and his company was there and even Aguinaldo's mom was there to ensure that everything happened according to plan. It might be some imagining of mine or perhaps maybe we'll never know. But its just an interesting theory.
@TheAnonymous Some of the Illustrados may have been knowledgeable but they chose to save their businesses, their wealth and their lives instead of their country. If they had realized that they needed to focus on the war and unite, they could have fulfilled the wishes of our ancestors. But they didn't. We also got alternate versions of history too which we discuss in an undocumented podcast!

Aguinaldo denied he had Bonifacio killed all his life but in the end, he succumbed to admitting it. No one else was in the room where it happened, so we can only assume. Mabini is an intelligent man and he would have had worries that would have motivated him to act on behalf of the many like him who had some shared agenda where they can benefit in the downfall of the commander general of the national army and that would be influence over whatever outcome becomes of the war.
Didn't know? It would have been a good theory but he also had Bonifacio killed earlier which sets a precedent to his behavior.
