In Malay peninsula, more precisely in Malacca there are more then one type of kris. The crooked object on our dagger we call a "luk". There are 1 "luk" for kris the has no croked (like knife), 1 luk mean the only one god. And also, 3 "luk". It symbolizes the 3 pillars of faith, namely Islam, Iman, and Ihsan. And 5 "luk" meaning The Five Pillars of Islam. That was Shahada, Salah, Fasting, Pay zakat , and Pilgrimage. Finally, 7 "luk" symbolizes the 7 petals of the sky and 7 of the earth.
Edit: not seven earth but seven petals of earth (from surface to the bottom of earth)

This video gives me mixed feelings as a Javanese and keris enthusiast. Keris have specific characteristics in it, if a blade lack those characteristics it's just a dagger.
    1. Every wavy shaped keris must have an odd number of curves.
    2. Keris is made from multiple different metal, usually a combination of iron, steel and nickel.
    3. Those material then folded forge to obtain specific pattern which is the most essential characteristic of keris.
    4. Lack of guard.
I can go on but still it is good to see keris got a recognition and appreciation.

To cut you should use a sword because a keris is a stabbing weapon, you can look for references to ancient swords in Indonesian Java such as lar bango, which are unique in shape and there are reliefs on the Penataran temple or the Kadga sword which has reliefs on the Borobudur temple or in Prambanan temple. You can see on google or youtube. If you use this sword, I think Indonesians will be amazed because not all Indonesians understand about the sword.

The ancient keris in Java was only used by knights and aristocrats, the material was not made carelessly using a mixture of molten meteor rock if you ask why? In Java, many studied magic, so it was not surprising that a very hard meteorite rock could be made by an empu (this is what a keris craftsman calls) and the manufacture also had to do quite a lot of rituals. The most interesting thing about a keris is that it is a heirloom that is deliberately filled with magic, so the creation must go through several rituals first
