    8. Bplus Podcast - TH-cam Channel (advanced):
    9. Learn Persian with Majid - TH-cam Channel (beginner - advanced)
    💯How I practice it:💯
    1. Vocabulary - reading & listening texts many, many times after translating them. The words will stuck eventually, just trust the process
    2. Grammar - I flipped through some explanations and watch a video about a verb tense sometimes. That's it. Everything else I will pick up from context.
    3. Reading - Reading, translating, reading, translating, reading again, translating the unknown words, reading more.
    4. Listening - The same. I take walks with my headphones and listen to texts over and over again, until I understand what is being said.
    5. Writing - I learned the script step by step, first by copying letters, then words, phrases, texts. Sometimes I try to write down what is being said and then I check my transcription. But I do not write well, since understanding and speaking is my focus.
    6. Speaking - I started really speaking after 8 months, with Italki teachers. I finally found one who speaks only farsi with me! Also I made a Persian friend who wants to practice with me sometimes.
    Good luck to you!❤

My partner is iranian born in the Netherlands, we have been together for 7 years but recently (6 months) i've been really putting in the effort to learn farsi. I'm dutch and i love farsi. Delam barād tang shodeh bod (I don't know the script) is one of the first sentences i successfully memorised besides basic conversation. I can see my father and mother in law are so happy when i learn new words, and i am finally able to follow their conversations in farsi. Keep up the good work! :)

I just started learning Persian. Love your approach to learning, very well organized. Since I already know cyrillic Tajik helped me a lot. What I found really great about Persian is how similar it is to Croatian, tons of cognates, simple grammar and very logical. The thing that puts off most people is the unfamiliar arabic script. Persian is like a cousin that is dressed up as an Arab for halloween haha. Learning it opens you up to 120 milion people and an ancient great civilization. What gave me motivation to learn was a story about the hero Rostam from Shahnameh.

It’s very interesting to see your learning system! With TH-cam and Google Translate, learning Persian is now easier than ever. I’m an American originally from Louisiana and started learning Persian at the age of 15 way back in 1979, when I started meeting all these Iranians at school who were coming over to get away from the turmoil of the revolution and to study in the US. I found the people, the culture, and the language so beautiful and exotic. They were so welcoming to me, and would invite me to their homes and get togethers, where I was able to soak in the music, culture, and food. It was like a whole new world to me. I was determined to learn the language.
My method back then was simple: I got a notebook and started writing down conversational phrases, and then would ask my Persian friends to write them in Farsi using the alphabet along with the phonetic sound. That helped me learn the letters and variations in pronunciation. Before long, we were sending Persian notes back and forth to each other in class. Once, the teacher saw and asked to read the note. I’ll never forget the look on his face when he opened it!
They would invite me to their get togethers and I was able to hear the music and discover the food and culture. But back then, there was no internet, no Amazon, and Persian grammar materials were almost impossible to find, so over time, after I moved away to a smaller town, my Persian got rusty. Today, I’m fortunate to live in Los Angeles, which has the largest Iranian community outside Iran, and I’ve recently started studying again. With all the resources available now, it’s so much easier! If you haven’t already found it, check out the Persian keyboard and translator on the Gate2home website. I’m encouraged to see others like you who share this interest. Movvafagh Boshi!

I’m an English guy that did the Pimsleur Farsi 1 course 14 years ago and still have 100% retention. I just started Pimsleur Farsi 2 course and it’s just like old times. For me, as a native English speaker, learning Farsi is more like remembering a language, rather than learning it. I love seeing the look on Iranian peoples faces when they realise I can speak Farsi. It’s like magic 😊

A Persian expert in my country said in her podcast that in order to make it easier to learn Persian, you better have a basic knowledge in Sasnkrit and Arabic. She also said that the most similar European language to Persian is Russian, and the word Khoda (god in Persian) and God (god in Dutch) sound accidently similar, but they don't have any connection.

    • @MaxLearnsPersian
      @MaxLearnsPersian  2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

I believe also the word bad in English, and 'bad' in Persian, sound the same, but that is a coincidence. Now I understand that having a knowledge of Arabic and Sanskrit would help my Persian studies tremendously, but spending time learning one or both of those would mean that i am not studying Persian that same period of time. So I won't do it now. I am focused on learning Persian so I'll spend time studying the language directly. Some people go as far as to say that you should learn Persian to learn Arabic, but I disagree. For a big part learning a language is also learning a culture, so time spent with Persian culture is not learning Arabic culture, I just don't agree. Now this does not mean that it does not interest me! For now it is just Farsi, farsi, farsi!

You are right and I know that, I do not confuse them at all. They are very different. I am only saying that in Persian there are Arabic expressions and they use the Arabic alphabet.
