If you are at a teaching hospital, you have to expect they're going to teach. And if you don't want them to teach, you need to specify at the start (and they really should have said to you at the beginning, "We have residents. Do you mind this second-year student doing it under my guidance?" - something like that). Anyway, go easy on the learning students! I was a student once, at a hospital, and it is nerve-wracking at the BEST of times!

DId they ask you if a resident could do the epidural? They should have, if they didn't. That's your chance to say "no thank you" if that's how you feel. I gave birth at a teaching hospital in British Columbia and they had several medical students in attendance, but they asked my permission. I consented because I knew the attending physician wouldn't just set them loose on me lol - plus, I know that they have to learn some way, right? Anyway, you both seem quite critical of the medical staff. What did they do right?

I had to pause the video to say that your husband looks like Garret Gee ( The Bucket List Family.) now back to the story.

WOW! YES - he DID know what he was doing! He was a STUDENT for God's sakes. You should have just said NO. I am a Registered Nurse and there were many times I did not feel confident (usually because of my asshole clinical instructors who made nursing school feel like bootcamp), but knew precisely what to do and WHY. So nursing students and medical students should never be anxious?

Sounds like the nurses were not very professional. That's a shame.

Why didn't you ask where you could stand? So you have these invisible boundaries and then get pissed when others cross them. I see.

I hope you reported the unprofessional behavior to the hospital!!!!! Congratulations on the beautiful blessings!!

It wasn't unprofessional to teach at a teaching hospital. The hysteria of the nurses over the water, yeah, that was unprofessional.

that was awful treatment of you in the OR. To not even GREET the mum or dad? to GOSSIP about someone?? Horrid.
