- These are audio recordings of individuals that witnessed and/or experienced the injustices manifested in Firestone. The testimonies are one of many that have not been documented over a span of almost a century.
Though today, some changes have been made (reconstruction and development) it is important to not forget what happened (for a large majority of the 99-year contract). Tapper's are still trying to make a dignified wage to live a well and healthy lifestyle, while the company is flourishing.
This message is important because it brings awareness to a large issue of exploitation and allows for continuous reflection, and reformation. These personal accounts are valid and apart of Liberian history. By looking back on past mistakes, we can make better decisions that will positively impact ourselves and the community for tomorrow.
