I was B-2-46 in August and September 1993. I can be seen in the background during the pugil stick fight when they're wearing orange helmets. The drill Sergeant in the scenes with the orange helmets is CW4 (then SSG) James Carter. He was killed in Afghanistan in 2008.
+jasonharris951 I saw it in the army times the week it happened. I talked to his nephew and confirmed it was him. As senior pilot He was testing new flight software in an OH-58 Kiowa helicopter when it failed and went down in Afghanistan.
J Travis thanks for your response. Right after responding to you I looked it up and read that he died in a test flight just like you said. Very sad news.
I was there from August 1 to October 2, 1996. It was the most fascinating and great adventure I ever had...I remember DS Brooks as the Senior NCO. Did somebody has videos from Fort Knox of 1996. I was in Alpha 1-46th. Hoorah!!!
I was there in the winter of 92 / 93, Bravo 2/46. I loved it, made me a better person now. Miss the old gas chamber anf firing range. There was nothing like doing pt in the morning, then going to the range all day firing your weapon.
1:50 My mans is on profile but they made him pugil fight anyway hahaha.. that's the kind of basic training i remember! I went to basic at Ft Knox, 1/46th Inf. 4th platoon. Nov-Dec of '95. This is Mark "Mezzy Mez" Messner-Always makin a mess. I'm always on the look out for, Ft Knox: Robert Rogers, Josh Mellor, Gravell, Knox, Marshall, Jones, "jim carrey". Drill Sergeants Batista, Egie, Morales and Ruiz Ft Gordon: Turner, Sauls, Keller, Niutupuivaha, Vidrine, Miller. Drill Sergeant Lemuelle Brock.
Sorry it took so long for a response, but as for your question the answer is I am a veteran of the US Army. This is an actual video of my company during bct.
I am sure they still do pugil, but most likely not as aggressive. I attended bct in july, hot and humid as fuck. Good luck, just do what you are told and try to get noticed for anything good or bad as much as possible, being somewhat of a ghost will make things alot easier for you, I was the shortest and youngest in the platoon, so I got fucked with every waking, and sleeping, moment, lol, it was worth it.

+J Travis That is crazy. I remember James Carter. That is sad. I had drill sergeant Carter C. How did you find that out about Carter J?
