Well here we are! It's Neo Geo series time! Because damn it...it's my favorite retro gaming platform of all time and I've been collecting for the Neo Geo AES for years! As far as retrogaming collecting goes...it's not cheap, but don't forget...you can always get the 1:1 experience on MiSTer FPGA, which is how I am playing this now!
Patreon Thanks : Seth Peterson, John Thompson, Paul daniel, Porch, Jon Anderson, RayceARoni, Kuranghi, Jason Hixon, Sam Matthews, Alex Tessler, Jonathan Leung, Martin Donlon, Tom Van Deusen, Barabob, Steve Randall, Ahab, K-2, Eric Walklet, J Z, Ivar Wennerholm, Adrien Sebbane, tobemorecrazy, Mike Puelinckx, Tony Escobar, H7, Humanoide70, Ben Parfitt, Holder Schmidt, Tim Lehner, matschmonster, Shad Uttam, Dan L, James Mann, Richard Schneider, Sunder Raj and Dorfus!
Up next: Top Hunter: Roddy and Cathy. The Neo Geo does not have a ton of beat em up games but the few it does have are great...and my personal favorite is Top Hunter! Its half beat em up, half platformer and ALL fun! It has a really interesting multi plane setup ala Guardian Heroes but it has all the colorful charm you'd expect out of a gave developed by SNK for the Neo Geo! If Capcom had Final Fight and Sega had Streets of Rage...SNK had Top Hunter!
And if you don't own a Neo Geo or a MiSTer...play it on Final Burn Neo...it emulates extremely well!

This is the first NeoGeo game I played in the arcade. I always remembered it, but never knew the name until I saw it again until I started my collection :-) Really love this game, it has such a charming personality!

Top Hunter is among the Neo cd Dreamcast games I'm trying to upload to the internet archive. What makes this one unique is it seems like someone straight up ported it to Dreamcast.

Excellent video of Top Hunter : Roddy & Cathy for the Neo-Geo VGE. I have this gem of a title for the NGCD, and AES. I think it's a really fun game for the whole family.
Also VGE, thank you for stopping by the Neo-Geo thread to share this with us. I also went on your thread and shared the video for others to take notice as well bro. Keep up the great work for sure. 8^)

Growing up, the neighborhood Roundtable Pizza near me just outside of Portland, OR had a 4 slot big red MVS cabinet. That cabinet was pretty much my sole Neo Geo experience until adulthood and Top Hunter was always available to play even when other games had been changed out. It is a must-play Neo Geo game for me and definitely one of the first that come to mind when I think of my own nostalgia. Worth noting that the Metal Slug games and Blue's Adventure were also far more popular on that cab than any of the fighting games. Would be interesting to see if its a regional thing or maybe Roundtable owners just light sidescrolls and platformers more. Great video as always dude!
PS: I always thought the villains were cool as a child so I had a Vac-Man instead of Stretch Armstrong

Man, I wasn't really too interested in this game as I thought it was going to be a standard platformer and I haven't been into those since Sonic the Hedgehog, but this game is so much more.
It really blew my mind when I discovered my first fighting game input. My guy did a dragon punch and that was definitely a big surprise.
Everything about this game is absolutely perfect!

Love your channel! I actually bought the game back in the 90s. I love it, too, but always found the two planes confusing. 😅 I haven't played it in a long time, and now saw lots of little details in your video that I had -err- borrowed for a PSX game I had worked on (that never came out).

I think the NeoGeo has probably one of the best Quality vs Quantity ratios of any console. Granted there are quite a few average games on it, there are just a handful of truly awful games and there are plenty of amazing games.

Many Prefer Contra-ish games so most wrote this game off it trying to be a Metal Slug clone so most I know never really got past the first stage. Good to hear you thought this was a good platforming game. Just wish it had more uniqueness to not look like Metal Slug in my opinion. I think it would have done better if the character designs were more different and enemy designs. Like I wanted to make an Action Fantasy Game like this where you go into the background and foreground. But yeah this is still a game I noticed not many talk about and again I think it is because the game was trying to be Metal Slug when it should have tried to go for a more different Fantasy look.
