When I’m considering moving to a new area, I always go into a grocery store or Walmart there during peak shopping hours to check out the people. That’ll usually give you a rough estimate of how well you’ll fit in there.

As someone who is 3rd generation born & raised in Las Vegas, NV: Stop referring to “Las Vegas” as a state or area. “Las Vegas”
is technically zoned just for the strip.
All the other “cities” you mentioned such as Green Valley, Summerlin, Boulder City, Aliente, etc are not the same, but they’re ALL located in “Clark County” such as the city of “Las Vegas”. That’s why they have all there own police force/firemen.

Lived in Vegas almost my entire life. I moved to Peccole Ranch which is next to Summerlin. It's my perfect community as far as I'm concerned. It has a bunch of walking paths, it's location is absolute perfection(close to public library, non-casino movie theatre, good freeway access, great shopping, great eating). I've never been a fan of Henderson because the roads seem so much more congested than the West side of Vegas. I don't know why but it seems more claustrophobic to me.

I've lived in vegas mostly on the north and east side for 20 years. North las vegas has way more crime. But as long as you protect your belongings and respect everyone it's okay. But constantly worrying about your house, cars, and things gets stressful. East side is lax but my neighbors would have their houses broken into all the time. Henderson is the best. No worries there. Historical Westside, paradise, naked city (around stratosphere), and old east side (around downtown to boulder highway) are just as bad. Basically the valley is hood. The surrounding areas are nice.

I lived in Paradise for over 30 years on 1/4 acre and a 2500 sq ft house. This location saves me tons of money. Less than 2 miles from the strip. Gas to get to work and drive the area is 50 bucks a month v my sister who lives in Henderson spends over 300 a month in gas now. My grandson walks to the University. Hundreds of restaurants surrounds my house. We walk to the store. Uber to the airport because it is so close. My aging parents take their scooter. Nobody bothers us. Crime is everywhere if you look it up. It's about awareness too. I wouldn't move from this area. It is too convenient. If I had the money to buy a new house, I would likely just remodel this one because the location is so great.

North ain’t that bad if you’re North of Craig at least. I live off Craig and Clayton and it’s not bad. Yes it’s a very “urban” area but I don’t worry much about crime in my little gated community. There’s like 2 homeless guys that are chill who live around the area. Just don’t live east of the 15 or south of Craig and it’s just quiet, boring suburbia

When it comes to crime rates, they do it in such a way to compare how many crimes occur to how many people live in an area. There's actually more crime in California than in Nevada, but since there's so many more people in California than in Nevada, the crime rate is considered to be less.

Eventually, you'll have to venture out of your little enclave, unless you plan on being a hermit. Living life takes risks. Sunrise Manor is not all bad. If you go about 2 miles East of Nellis BLVD, Sunrise Manor has lots of rentals and if you take Charleston to Hollywood those homes rang from 400,000 into homes in the millions!!!! I suggest driving that way before you say all of Sunrise Manor is bad. The East side of Sunrise Manor is beautiful and the west side of Sunrise Manor is much closer to the middle of Las Vegas so of course there is a lot of homeless people around that area and high crime. The farther you get away from the strip the nicer it is but yes, it’s more convenient if you live close to a freeway.

Their exist no homes in the "Millions" in sunrise manor. There maybe like a handful that cost around a million in the entire township, high end developers soon stopped after they realized it was a mistake to put high end properties in a low income part of town. Not saying that it is a bad part of town, it is just a more affordable living working class part of town. Northeast is heavily populated by the latinos or hispanics. Lots of hispanic food stores and restaurants on this side of town.

Impossible to do a video on this subject. Go on Zillow or Redfin and you will quickly start to see where the houses are and what they cost. You will see cheap more rundown housing in N. Las Vegas. You will see upscale housing in Lake Las Vegas, Summerlin and Red Rock. Henderson is the hottest growth for California expats.

The paradise area goes from Sahara to Serene which is a 13 mile long stretch. Below the airport is much safer than north. There is a Neighborhood app you can put on your phone and also call the insurance company to see what neighborhood is the safest ones. I live at Paradise & Warm Springs and we have just about zero crime. Go down Warm Spring between Spenser and Eastern and the crime jumps. So do your homework.

as someone who lived there for 3 years, I pretty much concur. Basically the farther from the strip you live (east, west, northwest, and south), the better. I lived around UNLV and had my bicycles stolen at least 7 times (even with heavy chains and padlocks on them) and my car broken into once (I miss that leather jacket). I'd hear gunshots maybe once a month, and generally encounter aggressive bums at night on odd occasions. The only worse areas I would say are up by Nellis and Downtown (around Fremont Street, particularly the bus station). Being actually on Fremont is okay, but just 1-2 blocks away is a nexus of Vegas's mentally ill and burnt-out degenerates. So be expecting to encounter plenty of shady characters if you go near that area. Keep in mind my information is mostly 15-20 years old. :)

We came to a stoplight and it was super sketchy, I told my friend if anyone approaches the car I’m running this red light. I’ve walked the streets of south central LA and this seemed worse, could be I’m was just older.

    • @markblackburn5615
      @markblackburn5615 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

San Jose is a beautiful area with a lot to offer. The brokenness of the California state government has driven the price to live in CA to the moon. California's population is declining. That means the $3million you pay for an average home in San Jose will drop over the next decade All the billionaires have left or are leaving (Elon Musk, Larry Ellison, etc.). Since over 50% of california's taxes have been paid by the billionaires...you have to wonder who IS going to pay the taxes. It costs 4x as much to lay a mile of highway in CA as in TX. Why? Graft and corruption. I urge you to appreciate CA the way we all do via taking trips there from some nice place that is affordable like Vegas. I'm a CA native, I still work in CA, but have rented a place in Vegas. Tired of getting shafted by criminal fascists mistakenly called representatives or public officials.

north of Carey/Smoke Ranch and west of Commerce in North Las Vegas. However there is low income housing and homeless EVERYWHERE in greater Las Vegas. You can't escape the homeless and gang sign spray paint. Even in Centennial Hills. Although there is noticeably less trash, homeless, and spray paint in Centennial Hills. Vegas is super random. There is trashy neighborhoods near nice HOA's no matter where you go. Centennial Hills is by far the most clean and newest part of town. Pretty much the only way to espcae HOAs is to get lucky with a home North Las Vegas, or a remodeled home in sketch parts of old Vegas....Stay away from Nellis, Lamb, Sunrise Manor, LV Blvd. and anything east of Losee Road. I bought a house in North Las Vegas after moving from Iowa. I looked at over 100 homes all over the city. It was brutal finding something that wasn't trashed, with good neighbors, for under 300k. But I did it.

I’ve lived here since 2005. Decent jobs. Hate driving across town for anything especially to our VA for Doc appointments, but they’re very good doctors though. Cost of living is garbage for locals. But the housing is sky high for most of us too, since people who can afford 2K rent for 2bed/2bath (example) can definitely afford it, they raised it for that purpose not giving a damn about anyone else.
I do live in Paradise area, near the airport. It could be a better neighborhood, but the biggest problem I have is my downstairs neighbor starting sh*t between my b/f and I and a neighbor and his family. We didn’t fall for it. She constantly calls the cops. Oh well.
I have my own protection… a few of them. Haven’t used them yet except the range. I stay away from people. I don’t speak to a lot of people. I like it that way.
