Nick, one of the reasons I love watching your videos is the enthusiasm and appreciation you express for a beautiful day and the incredible views you get to experience along your hikes and the summits! Just your simple appreciation for the blue sky and the sun shining. Not everyone has that same appreciation.

Another great and epic hike & video. Thank you so much for sharing. Congrats to Rudi for the mileage and elevation changes--that's youth for you! Half mountain has been on my list since i saw your first video about it. I doubt that we'll get to it this time around but one can always have a bucket list of mountains to hike. May you two have more epic hikes this summer!!! Your #1 Tennessee Fans!

Loved this one! Great hike. My body will not allow me to do what Rudy did lol. I'm still trying to decide exactly which hikes to do next month when I get there. I hit the road exactly 4 weeks from this Friday! I'm so pumped! Keep the great content coming, brother!

Great hike Nick. Smart move heading on back instead of dealing with that wicked wind.

I can't say I've ever liked videos of people recording their POV hikes. I'm not sure why, but something about yours that I actually enjoy watching from beginning to end. It might be that you take the time to explain where you are in the trail and what's what in the vicinity. Something others don't do. I'll be in the RMNP August 7th to 11th (my 2nd visit). Your videos are getting me pumped haha. Cheers to many more. 💯

Great vid, Nick! I recognized the part where you were coming back down to the trees. I think we were in there somewhere on that OH, so windy and snowy day. But hey, we got half way up Half Mountain, anyway. Thank you for this video making me glad I didn’t do that climb to the summit! Ha!

Props to you Nick on this vid... thank you! Your vid and Lisa Foster book were quite useful on this hike to the top of Half Mtn. I just did this on Sunday. It was a workout but was totally worth it! It was quite windy up there but the views of Longs, Black Lake, Mills, the Loch, Andrews and so many other things was amazing!! Love RMNP!!!

Great hike. Can't believe the elevation gain in such a short distance. Congratulations to Rudy too. He must hike a lot too , to have that kind of stamina. I sometimes hike alone. Other than my husband I don't know anyone who can keep up with me. I'm not at your level. Shelf and Solitude Lakes is about as steep as I've done, twice, and that's enough for me. LOL.

Hey Nick! I absolutely love watching your videos. Ever since moving here I was so interested in doing bush whacking and going off trail but not too many TH-camrs show themselves doing it. Thank you for making good and original content!

Thanks Noah! Some of my favorite destinations that I have been to require some off trail/bushwacking. I love it!

Gotta think the turquoise color of Haiyaha has a lot to do with the big rock slide in chaos canyon, which produced lots of fine dust and silt that then got carried into the lake by streams, giving it color similar to a glacial lake

Yeah, when I was up on that ridge, that krummholz was pretty bad, especially since there was still a lot of snow patches up there. Took a long time to get down the ridge going the opposite way around the loop. The bad section isn't that long, but it is very annoying.

Thanks for another fantastic video. In RMNP, is it ok to go off trail? I’ve always thought that you’d run afoul of the rangers if you went off trail. What about the Nat’l forest? Can you also make your own way without getting into trouble?

There are signs posted that say to stay off because of restoration in certain areas and its obvious in other places to stay on the trail/off the tundra. Like Sundance Mtn right off Trail Ridge Road. You have to walk across nothing but Tundra to get up there, so you will never see me do a video on that. But to get to most of the peaks in RMNP you have to go off trail. 90% are rocks anyway and the only thing thats gonna get destroyed out there is me. Not the mountains lol. But in national forests you are good to go where you please as far as I know.

The reason to do the bushwhacks is rather clear at 16:41 -- looks like Disneyland-hell.
A lot of the remote summits might have just a few dozen people on them per year, so that handful of bushwhacks is not exactly going to wear a canyon in the mountain; it's only in Conga-line country that the "restoration area" signage is needed.

@@alquinn8576 I love RMNP, and am there all the time, but you're right, at times there are just too many people. I just want to make sure I'm a good citizen (and set a good example), and don't do anything I shouldn't.

Went up there today. Your card from this hike is still in the peanut butter jar at the summit.
