He's really just so bright and so adorable. I love how he said his problems with alcohol don't define him now and love how sincere he was when he apologized to Barbara (even though it may not have been needed). We need more people like him. Love love love Mr. Craig Ferguson. :)
Thanks for taping this! The man is a master life composter. Seems like he keeps his license up-to-date by dealing with fears and ethical issues as they come up. I absolutely adore the guy.
That man ooozes charm and wit...I highly recommend his book. He is an incredible writer. It is possibly the most candid and honest book I've read and really funny.
How does one in America know what the join and die cartoon is? Its a part of their history! I'm from New Zealand and I've known about for years. I've watched a lot of Craig Ferguson and he gets Asked this all the time.
It always surprises me how often people act like they have no clue what Craig's snake tattoo is about. Isn't that supposed to be one of the first things they teach in US History, or is that also being glossed over in the name of whatever they are trying to do to history classes?
School now a days doesnt teach u things about ur country or things to prepare u for ur adult/work life, no its about can u pass a test as the high scores make schools look good, u memorize answers then forget about it by the time of the next unit, least thats wat I did and thats wat my little brother in high school does.
Jokerwins101 That's unfortunate. Teaching to the test, as opposed to teaching to the knowledge and how it affects life/job/etc... This doesn't help anyone but bean-counters.
Barbara Walters kept patting him like he was a little boy or something. I cracked up when she was like, "It comes from here," and poked him on the side of the head!
0:58 Holy crap, Barbara!!! Let us enjoy the man's epic entrance before you go blabbing at him. Jeez. Craig the THE ONLY THING ON THE PLANNET that could get me to watch this freaking show.
Honestly, I could just sit there and watch Craig and Whoopi talk with each other for an hour without the rest of them there. It's not that the others are useless, but Whoopi and Craig pull no punches AND they're incredibly funny. I have to say, though, that Walters does surprise me occasionally when she displays her frankness.
he wore the same shirt on Rachel Ray AND they made a point of him wearing the shame shirt on RR TWICE!!! (Plus they showed a segment where he was on video on RR...wearing the same shirt...) That's awesome :)
Notice all the women's body language. Everyone of them crossed their legs toward him. A positive body language sign from women. This guy has got game in a big way.
although i would agree that craig's got "game" , it has nothing to do with all the women crossing their legs towards him. an interviewer generally crosses his/her legs towards the interviewee
@Procrastinator300 I learned about the join or die cartoon in school. It was in my textbook. We didn't spend two minutes on it but History is my favorite subject so I guess it just stuck with me.
@18scotslad I know that. But Britain is the whole of Scotland, England, and Wales right? The whole island is called Great Britain. And don't England and Scotland have similar weather? Well, i guess Scotland might be colder
can't believe so many americans ask craig what his tattoo means. that 'join or die' political cartoon was in every single one of my american history books from grade school through college. how in the hell does an AMERICAN not know what it is??
+Alex Creed I think the strength of his accent varies depending on where he's at. On his own show, it's not as strong anymore, but somewhere else, it's stronger.
@CandyShakes i see. In a city near me there is an Arts secondary school.. so the classes are the main Idea ...but you have to be good to get in. and they still have the other manditory classes (English, French, Maths, Sciences etc) I would have liked to have gone there... It's a shame that it isn't the same south of the border. Have you seen 'Wating for Superman' It's a doco about the amarican school systems.
@MangoHombre it's weird how they don't teach about that in school. In 5th and 8th grade when I was learning about U.S. history, my teachers never even mentioned that as far I can remember. The first time I saw it was on him
@650alcombli He probably makes it a bit clearer for the American folks to understand on his show! If you ever heard Jonathan Ross on his radio show, he wwould pronounce his 'Rs better than on TV.
Grrrr. EVERY show he was on during this book promotion tour had to go to his suicidal moment in the book.... He's like "Oh Yeah! Very important!" in reply to Barbara Walters! lol
@crazypianolady I was watching clips of Loose Women (I'm from America) and thought the exact same thing! I don't think they're 'officially' different versions of the same show, but they appear to have the same concept. I think The View is more political, though.
I find no fault with the introductory clause, which is simply declaratory of what is written in the Constitution, that every human being BORN within the jurisdiction of the United States OF PARENTS NOT OWING ALLEGIANCE TO ANY FOREIGN SOVEREIGNTY IS, in the language of your Constitution itself, a natural born citizen. " John A. Bingham, (R-Ohio) US Congressman, March 9, 1866
@bi0dude42O it's an interview on a morning show. they have to assume most of the audience doesn't know what it is. also, it's an interview, they have to make in talk.
@CandyShakes As a Canadian I really shouldn't criticize American legislator… but I cannot help but agree with you. Also I am a student of history and I have been all my life… I doubt that most of my friend would know the significance of his tattoo. I was lucky enough to be in the Separate School System (catholic) which has better funding then public schools in my province. So my schools had a fairly round education.
@18scotslad @missdailybailey well there's more than one scottish accent isn't there? yeah there's probly a scots accent and a scottish gaelic accent, right? but yeah there is a difference between Irish and Scottish for sure, I can tell. Don't know what that person's talking about he doesn't sound irish, sounds scottish. Britain seems so cool, I mean US is great too but Britain seems awesome as well. want to go there again
Those twits. How do they not know the "Join or die" symbol? What a good sport Craig is. I would have been incredibly rude and called them all friggin' idiots. To their faces. Also, a couple times, Craig is reining in a couple of swear words. Ha!
@countingdown27 I truly hope you're joking. For your sake. In case you're not, that would be The French and Indian War otherwise known as The Seven Years War.
@warml and @macharius188 If you can tell me what the snake represents and what war was being fought at that time without Googling it I'll give you a shiny new nickel.
@18scotslad don't know, I'm 16 and have lived in the same house my whole life. I should really learn though, shouldn't I? but yeah, I remember the one time I went to England when I was 9, it was April, and on the day we drove to London (I stayed in Southampton), it was raining fucking bullets. You never get that here in L.A. The people suck, but its the best weather in the world. Even the rain is alright here.
@650alcombli Its a Scottish defense mechanism when we come into contact with multiple women. The accent gets thicker so the women get confused and leave fast.
Love Craig Ferguson but another Scot banging on about the British . For Americans who are not in the know . Scotland has Barnett agreement , regarding funding their side of the border . We who live if the south subsidise Scottish citizens ( we are taxed heavily for it ) Scottish kids get FREE university education , they get FREE prescriptions ( for medication etc ) extra living costs for welfare the list goes on ! As more than 50%of Scottish people voted to stay joined with UK - they know when they are better off . Independence is not likely . It would be nice if we got the vote so we could break away - our taxes might not be so high and the likes of Craig and his countrymen can stop whining about English people I think k Craig is talented and funny but his snarky comment has put me off him !
Shame on these Americans on not knowing the history and background for the Join Or Die political cartoon! A (awesome) Scotsman had to educate them on it! Even I knew about the origin! and i'm a South Korean from Europe! and yes I am a douchebag :)
I absolutely adore Craig. He is one of the most underrated, hilarious, sweet, adorable guys in hollywood and certainly in the comedy world. Love him!
I got to meet him on his book tour. He wrote a very nice message to my brother for his birthday. He's such a character - very nice guy.
He's really just so bright and so adorable. I love how he said his problems with alcohol don't define him now and love how sincere he was when he apologized to Barbara (even though it may not have been needed). We need more people like him. Love love love Mr. Craig Ferguson. :)
It's amazing that Craig, is more American, than any other person sitting on that couch.
The book is even better in audio. Hearing Craig narrate his life be it good, dad or indifferent is emotional 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
He's adorable! I really miss his late-night show.
Isn't it amazing that it takes a foreigner to teach American history to tv know it all's. That kind of tells you something of their education.
Which country are you from where you need a post-secondary degree to host a television show?
A degree wouldn't help a raving mad female liberal.
sweiland75
That would be fine if they kept in their lane, but these shitwits spend a fair amount of time commenting on politics and religion.
I had a huge smile on my face the whole time I watched this, haha. This guy is my hero.
How does one in America know what the join and die cartoon is? Its a part of their history! I'm from New Zealand and I've known about for years. I've watched a lot of Craig Ferguson and he gets Asked this all the time.
I agree. I normally don't get mad either, but it's insulting to our history if you're American and not know what it means.
people sometimes take for granted what they have or where they live
Jason D they should know, but some people are so ignorant some dont even know their own history
love that he ain't holding back on the accent...on his show he kind'a holds back a little bit
"Are you insane?" "ABSOLUTELY!" Hahahahaha i love that man.
His accent was so much stronger back in 2009.
Don't get me wrong, I like how he talks now as well.
HIS ACCENT IS SO THICK IN THIS OMG
It always surprises me how often people act like they have no clue what Craig's snake tattoo is about. Isn't that supposed to be one of the first things they teach in US History, or is that also being glossed over in the name of whatever they are trying to do to history classes?

Jokerwins101 That's unfortunate. Teaching to the test, as opposed to teaching to the knowledge and how it affects life/job/etc...
This doesn't help anyone but bean-counters.
Jokerwins101 You are so correct. One of the best pieces of advice I ever received was from a math teacher who said
"don't remember -understand"!
Barbara Walters kept patting him like he was a little boy or something. I cracked up when she was like, "It comes from here," and poked him on the side of the head!
craig is GOLD!
I like how he says "learn" at 6:25 to 6:30
Only Craig Ferguson could get me to sit through a portion of The Fucking View.
0:58 Holy crap, Barbara!!! Let us enjoy the man's epic entrance before you go blabbing at him. Jeez. Craig the THE ONLY THING ON THE PLANNET that could get me to watch this freaking show.
It's amazing how much he has recovered from all his years before he came to America.
Craig is such a dear! I love his show, he's funny, intelligent, and so honest.
i fucking love his accent
Honestly, I could just sit there and watch Craig and Whoopi talk with each other for an hour without the rest of them there. It's not that the others are useless, but Whoopi and Craig pull no punches AND they're incredibly funny. I have to say, though, that Walters does surprise me occasionally when she displays her frankness.
Thank goodness for that glass of sherry. Imagine this world without Craig Ferguson... *shudder*
Aw Craig I love how shy he seems :)
He's seems so nice
he wore the same shirt on Rachel Ray AND they made a point of him wearing the shame shirt on RR TWICE!!! (Plus they showed a segment where he was on video on RR...wearing the same shirt...) That's awesome :)
Craig is such a sweetheart! Class act all the way.
CRAIG: It's join or die.
BARBARA: What is it?
ME: YOU GOTTA BE KIDDING ME....
Craig, he has the best accent, and if I wasn't already engaged, I'd so marry him in a heart beat

Craig is so humble and he's super funny!! One of the best talk show hosts next to Kimmel for me =)
yeah as an American I was like "the hell ladies? US history much"!
I'm so lame.
@CandyShakes I knew about it and I am a Canadian. we don't even have the option of American History until highschool.
"Are you out of your mind?! Absolutely."
He's amazing.
I am completely in love with this guy, and this book was the most beautiful thing ive ever read. Fcking love you Craiiggg :):)
OMG This video was made when I was born
i can't believe they're all laughing at these things. i feel really bad he had to endure all that :c whatevs. CRAIG IS AWESOME!
man has soo much charactor.
I got to meet him too in Boston last year... But I was speechless lol
But he was very nice
So if I meet him again I'll be sure to talk more hah :)
can't believe so many americans ask craig what his tattoo means. that 'join or die' political cartoon was in every single one of my american history books from grade school through college. how in the hell does an AMERICAN not know what it is??
LONG LIVE CRAIG
Is it just me or is he hamming up his accent, which was previously a bit dampened?
+Alex Creed I think the strength of his accent varies depending on where he's at. On his own show, it's not as strong anymore, but somewhere else, it's stronger.
lol he's such a charmer
@CandyShakes i see. In a city near me there is an Arts secondary school.. so the classes are the main Idea ...but you have to be good to get in. and they still have the other manditory classes (English, French, Maths, Sciences etc) I would have liked to have gone there... Have you seen 'Wating for Superman' It's a doco about the amarican school systems.
"I dont like to be afraid..... I dont like to be afraid!!!"... yes Craig, me neither
i love how awkward and uncomfortable he looks when people compliment him. it's so damn adorable.
@MangoHombre it's weird how they don't teach about that in school. In 5th and 8th grade when I was learning about U.S. history, my teachers never even mentioned that as far I can remember. The first time I saw it was on him
I was thinking the same thing.
Not Scotsman anymore? the fact that he is now American doesn't negate the fact that he's a Scotsman
I love Craig
Yeah, I noticed that too.
thats impressive
Is it just me or did Craig kick up the scottish accent for some reason?
@650alcombli He probably makes it a bit clearer for the American folks to understand on his show! If you ever heard Jonathan Ross on his radio show, he wwould pronounce his 'Rs better than on TV.
oh Good Elizabeth is not there.
I think The View is more political, though.
i love how all the AMERICANS don't know anything about the revolutionary symbols lol and the SCOTSMAN knows more than we do.
@warml
lol, it's kinda funny, usually the people who become citizens know more history than the citizens already born here...
Hah, is this his Rachel Ray shirt??
@bi0dude42O it's an interview on a morning show. they have to assume most of the audience doesn't know what it is. also, it's an interview, they have to make in talk.

I was lucky enough to be in the Separate School System (catholic) which has better funding then public schools in my province. So my schools had a fairly round education.
@xkpstar25x right? that's like sixth grade history
woppi ask the same exact question 3 years later.
at 5:43 Whoopi Goldberg finally says something
his accents so thick compared to now
@18scotslad @missdailybailey well there's more than one scottish accent isn't there? yeah there's probly a scots accent and a scottish gaelic accent, right? but yeah there is a difference between Irish and Scottish for sure, I can tell. his accent seems much thicker on this show
His accent seems stronger here.
@countingdown27 I truly hope you're joking. For your sake. In case you're not, that would be The French and Indian War otherwise known as The Seven Years War.
He's actually American when the interview aired so..... your point is invalid.
@warml and @macharius188 If you can tell me what the snake represents and what war was being fought at that time without Googling it I'll give you a shiny new nickel.
@chibichan18 haha yeh he almost said fucking coffee haha, i laughed then too :P (and i agree im australia and i knew what the tatoo meant lol....)
why is Whoopi wearing a lab coat?
@18scotslad don't know, I'm 16 and have lived in the same house my whole life. I should really learn though, shouldn't I? but yeah, I remember the one time I went to England when I was 9, it was April, and on the day we drove to London (I stayed in Southampton), it was raining fucking bullets. @18scotslad i know he's scottish, but he sounded irish in this interview. that's why i noted it.
@juanvega5 neither do I....
Is this the American version of Loose Women?
@650alcombli Its a Scottish defense mechanism when we come into contact with multiple women. The accent gets thicker so the women get confused and leave fast.
@xkpstar25x I didn't know it. and i'm seventeen.
Call back to the past and the stronger accent returns
Wow nobody knew what Craig's tattoo was -_-
His accent is sexy.
Love Craig Ferguson but another Scot banging on about the British . For Americans who are not in the know . Scotland has Barnett agreement , regarding funding their side of the border .

I think k Craig is talented and funny but his snarky comment has put me off him !
wow, this is about as thick as his accent gets. wonder why?
How can AMERICANS in AMERICA not know join or die ==' I'm Australian and I know...
put younger Kristen Bell pic of that (4,21) and u may think u see sisters etc... 🙃
@4evasoftballwillrul Only "kinda sorta"? haha.
HATE The View. LOVE Craig Ferguson.
CHECK OUT BECOMING JACK...VERY FUNNY!!!
He's probably forced to study that for the test to become an American.
Shame on these Americans on not knowing the history and background for the Join Or Die political cartoon! A (awesome) Scotsman had to educate them on it! Even I knew about the origin! and i'm a South Korean from Europe! and yes I am a douchebag :)
probably more like he tones it down on his show. Or it goes off when he gets nervous, that lady has that effect on people, heh.
