It doesn't make sense for the GEB to be Lucifer, since Lucifer isn't strong enough to stalemate God. The GEB sounds more like God's mirror image in darkness. If God is the light that created the DCU, the GEB is the void that surrounds it.

@@shardzfn7541 The Great Darkness is literally nonexistence itself so we're in for a treat. In my personal opinion this might be the crisis that'll be on the same level as Final Crisis.
There's a clever, meta element behind Alan Moore creating the "Great Evil Beast." The original Crisis on Infinite Earths was supposed to usher in an era of grittier, more realistic comic books for the DC universe. By having the darkness and the light join hands, Moore was signaling the end of the classic Silver/Bronze-age style superhero (Defined by simple, black-and-white morality), and the beginning of a new, (Theoretically) more complex, anti-hero driven time for comics. After the battle with the Beast, Swamp Thing and his friends even comment on how the universe itself seems to have changed. This gives a meta explanation for DC's tonal shift and all the dark stories that followed (The Killing Joke, Death of Superman, and basically the 90's in general). Funny enough, Moore didn't seem to be completely on board with this direction, but it's interesting he wrote something about it.
Yeesh, not only did the G.E.B beat the Spectre, but it also made him cry, and beg for his Daddy.... _That_ is some Beyond Omega Level power right there.

Here’s what I got from this comic/video. The great evil beast wanted to know what exactly it was, confused about its existence. Of course, it literally being the soul/body of evil, it did not act very nice. When it asked people what it was/asking them what evil was and what-not, they all responded to it as it being a bad and generally negative thing. The big difference of when swamp thing went in was that swamp thing knew the answer, just not a very common one, despite it being the true answer. Swamp thing responded to the great evil beast with a story or something he overheard or was talking about. And afterwards, swamp thing explained how “without evil, there is no good, and without good, there is no evil.” Thus, the great evil beast released swamp thing without a scratch and went to god and in a way, shook or held hand or something. What happened was that they decided not to fight. For whoever wins will still loose. Like swamp thing said, “without good there is no evil and without evil there is no good.” The 2 supreme beings shook hands, and like it was said afterwards, “nobody won, it was more like a tie,” like as if the conflict was completely ended……
She wasn't just a new Presence she taken THE PRESENCE place because The Presence stated he is leaving out of creation or going to another one. I'd forgot I have to go and read it again. 😁
Also, since the Spectre operates using the power Presence gave him; wouldn't it be Presence's fault for not giving Spectre a temporary mega amp to stop the GEB? I mean I think it kinda makes sense for it to have been Lucifer at one point in his life. How much of his story has been reconciling his relationship with the old man? I think it's a cool enough concept but with Darkseid accepted as the multiversal embodiment of evil for DC's landscape, there's not point in bringing it back. Can' Lucifer himself at this point even be called totally evil?
It’s not about being evil, in the Watters run Lucifer is revealed to be something like The Endless (Devil of the Endless would be pretty fitting) in that he is an embodiment of a cosmic principle. He is the foil to God, so he represents chaos, freedom, adversity, etc. In that context it makes sense to see The Beast as just another aspect of Lucifer’s domain even if they are different individuals, maybe the same could be said for the First of the Fallen.
The Great Evil Beast/Great Darkness is likely not Lucifer. The writer is clearly inserting his own headcanon. But there is an in-universe explanation as well: the Collective Unconsciousness/the Dreaming. I believe it was in the last run of Lucifer (not the most current) that revealed a version of him created by Humanity’s belief in the Devil, which he disdained as they thought of himself as a stereotypical red man with horns. Essentially in the DC universe if one collective belief is strong enough, the realm of the dreaming/the collective unconsciousness will manifest that idea in a metaphysical form. Warhammer 40k fans would understand this concept a lot more since that’s basically how the warp entities work in that universe as well. It’s likely that the black hand we saw behind Lucifer was a manifestation of what many magic users in the DC universe interpreted as an aspect of God’s “first enemy,” the rebellious son who was cast out of Heaven. Since they have never heard of the great evil beast/great darkness, they simply assumed an imagined it to be an aspect of Lucifer, thus making it manifest in the collective unconsciousness which in turn created this separate entity. However, the great darkness is still its own entity separate from Lucifer. It’s actually more likely that the Great Evil Beast is an avatar or lower dimensional emanation of Pralaya, the Goddess of Nothingness.
This why alot of continuity of this comics are so confusing, BS writers messing up and making a huge plothole. That writer doesn't know anything about the Vertigo comics I guess.
Additionally, if GEB is Cthulhu, it can't be Lucifer. Lucifer serves only himself, while Cthulhu is the high priest of Azathoth. These would appear to be mutually exclusive (though I suppose it's possible Lucifer could have appeared to be GEB as a deceit). Of course, there weren't any references to R'lyeh or the Great Old Ones, so it's just as probable that the Cthulhu reference was made more for flavor than as fact.

Infinite Frontier #6 Spoilers Ahead I had my suspicions that a few Omni Threats that have appeared in DC since The Great Darkness story back in the 80s were actually aspects of The Great Darkness itself. As of Infinite Frontier #6 two I suspected were confirmed to be so: Nekron and The Empty Hand from Multiversity. Two I didn't suspect that were also confirmed were this weird Lovecraftian Nyarlathotep-ish guy I never heard of called The Upside-Down Man, and Eclipso, which makes sense as he is the evil counterpart to The Spectre. Also Earth Omega was a piece of The Great Darkness as well. Infinite Frontier #6 was a complete mindblowing bombshell of a read, especially for those of us long awaiting the return of The Empty Hand and The Gentry. In one single comic the future of the DC Comics core spine story is looking like it's going to be a complete blast to keep up with. We'll get the next chapter of the DC spine story in November when Justice League Incarnate #1 hits.
I have plausible doubts that Lucifer which means "Lightbringer" would be the darkness. I could get on board with him being aspect of the GEB though. Hmm. Geb was the Egyptian earth god wasnt it?
as a character it is not intereseting in the sense that it is so abstract that writing with it involved will kind of lead to the end of all things (theres only one way those stories end). but as the hallmark of a finished storyline, it is interesting. The message was received
I don't think that The Great Evil Beast is Lucifer but more like the opposite of God and everything he stands for. It would make sense as when the hands clasp, they disappear, balancing each other out. Comic's have shown me that everyone has a equal, someone who can match them whether good or bad, a balance is always shown.
I wonder, Darkseid being a representation of evil, the same with Lucifer and The Great Evil Beast, and probably few other characters. Are they the same being or perhaps serve the same entity? The same goes for the reversed, Highfather and the Presence? That aside, it seems like confusing writing when including so many reprensentations, like comics really need a Kevin Feige.
You're asking a really facinating question! Personally I don't think they're the same, or even aspects of the same bring. Darkseid is the God of Tyranny, and that, to my knowledge, has never been a part of Lucifer's character. In additional, the whole New God's thing has always been more Sci-fi than Fantasy, though certainly they have a lot of symbolism.
I think it's more like split into levels. Lucifer is the concept itself , kind of like how Black racer is the embodiment of death for New gods but He is Below Death of the endless as She is Death herself. I don't really remember him being the god of Evil though
@@dio6856 I think this might be a reference to the Imaginary Axis video on Darkseid. Been a while since I watched it myself, but I recall that he makes a pretty convincing argument for Darkseid bring the God of Evil.
Cory Morgan The Imaginary Axis also said in his last livestream that the Great Evil Beast is supposed to represent the opposite of the Presence, that being the absence of god.
I do know that Eric Karpe and SPN writers’ Amara/The Darkness character was based off of the Great Evil Beast that I’m glad this character existed and showed God has an Anti-God counterpart like Jesus and the Antichrist. I’m a sucker for beings of wielding dark powers so I liked it even though it doesn’t get any often appearances in comic. At least it helps pioneer context or concepts from it.
So the hand of light that grasped the darkness hand would more than likely be Michael. The story shows that they are two sides of the same coin. One needed by the other for creation itself.

Infinite Frontier #6 Spoilers Ahead
I had my suspicions that a few Omni Threats that have appeared in DC since The Great Darkness story back in the 80s were actually aspects of The Great Darkness itself.
If you want to know more about Upside down man, which a relatively new character, read Justice League Dark.
The Upside-Down man is an aspect of the Great Darkness and his power also draws directly from The Source as well.
One Below All vs Great Evil Beast!
noone explains comics better than Rob...AND I MEAN NOONE 😁😁👍
Beyond omega level: Johnny sins ****
You’re god damn right
"Johnny sins debuted in a 2008 story line called big butt party 12"
I really think that the Great Evil Beast is different and far more powerful than Lucifer.
Lucifer is the type to not use his full strength... its not a wild theory....
Well shit. The recent Dark crisis issue showed Lucifer literally within the great darkness. That is part of continuity now. That happened.
When I first heard "Great Evil Beast" for some reason that terrible cgi Satan from the spawn movie popped into my head.
I dont think it was Satan. If I remember right, it is Malbosia.
@@CNNBlackmailSupport yeah it wasn't satan, he is more powerful in the comics and far more dangerous.
The rosewood thing blew my mind! I just got the Allan moore swamp thing recently
I like the end song you used
I have plausible doubts that Lucifer which means "Lightbringer" would be the darkness. I could get on board with him being aspect of the GEB though. Hmm. Geb was the Egyptian earth god wasnt it?
This swamp thing run is awesome. I usually only read hellblazer stuff but my friend got me these Allen Moore books and there great
The most kind of Evil Eyes(Jagan)!😫😫
Darkseid: That's my son!
Kalibak: *sad apokolips noises*
I always like your videos before I even watch em. Ik there gonna be good
PLEASE do more Swamp Thing and Vertigo!
as a character it is not intereseting in the sense that it is so abstract that writing with it involved will kind of lead to the end of all things (theres only one way those stories end). but as the hallmark of a finished storyline, it is interesting. The message was received
Beyond Omega Level: David's Haller from Legion TV Series
I don't think that The Great Evil Beast is Lucifer but more like the opposite of God and everything he stands for. It would make sense as when the hands clasp, they disappear, balancing each other out.
Comic's have shown me that everyone has a equal, someone who can match them whether good or bad, a balance is always shown.
God has no opposite tho
Can u do a video on “The Decreator”, the Doom Patrol Villain?
100% recommend people checking out that Lucifer comic, majorly fun read.
That Swamp Thing Comic sounds like a giant heaping ball of........ ............................FLAMEZZZZZ🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Do one on griever at the end of all things
Music budget is slamming
I wonder,
Darkseid being a representation of evil, the same with Lucifer and The Great Evil Beast, and probably few other characters.
Cory Morgan
The Imaginary Axis also said in his last livestream that the Great Evil Beast is supposed to represent the opposite of the Presence, that being the absence of god.
waited for this like forever!!
You know...now that you've done this one, I finally wanna ask: Beyond Omega Level: Dream or Death of the Endless
please rob!
Man I’d kill for u to cover all of hellblazer
Brujeria is Spanish for "witchcraft" and is pronounced "broo-he-RI-a" (with a rolling "r").
So the hand of light that grasped the darkness hand would more than likely be Michael. The story shows that they are two sides of the same coin. One needed by the other for creation itself.
Please cover the Fable story
Yeah I don't remember how old this video was but during the Prelude to final crisis it was shown that the great evil Beast is actually the other half of the source
Rob, if you haven't read the latest Thor, you have too. It's a great book, and what Thor sees is fantastic.
