I genuinely tip my metaphorical hat to the design team of this season - Not only are Shadowline's monsters among the best looking ones I've seen so far, with the exception of VERY FEW among them, but the zords of the season are also very surprising for the better. I know that there are a lot of train types in japan, again, thanks to the info that we see in Toqger, but the idea of taking a vehicle that has a very simplistic form in general, like a train, and create an entire arsenal of different zords based on that concept, all with different designs and abilities, is a really impressive fit of creativity in my eyes, even if the weapon ideas were used by past sentai zords. Overall, Toqger is one of my absolute favorite sentai seasons to date, and while the story can be goofy, it can also be serious when it wants, and watching it is truely entertaining from the beginning of this literal train ride to it's end. So, to whoever reads this comment, if you hadn't seen Toqger yet, please do so. Even if you won't end up liking it, you should at least give it a try 😁.

Although the finished mechs don't look cool at all, the process is very cool and gives the vibes of rescue force(a firefighting series of this genre). And the details on the trains are extremely cool imo.

The story, a group of five childhood friends are gathered together where they lost their memories of their hometown, which was taken over by the Shadow Line. Spoiler alert: The main team are actually still kids but are put in grown-up bodies. Then they’re put in a situation where they can’t be reverted back to children, so even if they can save their town, they won’t be able to reunite with their families.

Because it was also Disney, there was a distinct limit to how far it can go, which ain't much further than what it started out with. It also had to work with Go-Onger aesthetics, which tempered it's seriousness, and is literally the source of levity at points (in a good way, I don't think a broody PR show is fit for the franchise, as much as some folks seem to want it). ToQger ostensibly masks an fairy-tale-esque horror with childish innocence, and peels some of it away as the series progresses. It's dark in a very similar way to how classic children's fairy tales tend to be REALLY messed up if you take more than a second to linger on the implications. The Shadow Line quite literally wants to take away free will, oppress the masses with an iron fist, a notion straight up highlighted by their imperialistic stylings.

Honestly, the mechs in this one look pretty goofy, but the proportions for the suit actors' suits make them look better (especially Chou Chou ToQ-Oh and ToQ Rainbow). Plus those low angle shots like the Diesel-Oh one make them look pretty epic too, lol.
without question, this is my favorite sentai series. love the hyper bright colors, gothic villain designs and the gattai. i picked up almost the whole dx toy line when i was in japan, and grabbed the few i was missing on ebay. technically, i'm missing the dx drill, but i use a gatcha version for combinations. the only japanese toy line that i own the complete series of.

This series and Zord are so underrated. The design looked odd at first but it grows on you and the toy would have been so fun. I don’t know why they skipped it as it was perfect for the way Disney wanted to make power rangers even more geared for kids
It's mainly to do with how the original show was structured, the original was a cross country style story moving from station to station and that's hard to pull off in the US

トッキュウジャーのロボって、イマジネーションで何でもアリな設定にも関わらず、その地盤にしっかりと鉄道としてのリアリティを敷いてくれてるのが魅力ですよね。
超トッキュウオーの無数の列車がすれ違いながらガチャガチャガチャ！って合体するシーンは圧巻です(超超トッキュウダイオー辺りから崩れてしまいましたが)
レインボーは蛇足かと思ってたのですが、よく見たらこれ、食玩とかガチャポンの列車を合体させる仕様っぽいですね(使ってるジョイントがトッキュウチェンジャーと同じっぽいですし)

This series was the first Sentai i ever watched to completion.
I WAS watching Kyoryuger but never got around to watching more after Gold's debut.
