A huge winter storm is impacting the Washington State cascades, particularly Snoqualmie Pass. I-90 travels over this pass, and it has received over 2 feet of snow in just over 24 hours.
    shot list:

I remember back when I was in high school marching band and we went to a band competition at the Kingdome in Seattle, and on the way back (we were from Kettle Falls, WA,) and we got stuck on Snoqualmie Pass after the school bus slid off the road, along with several semis etc. Such sweet memories, 😂😂😂😂😂😂

Snoqualmie pass isnt really bad, its the amount of traffic during the day that really messes it up. Plow trucks cant do anything in bumper to bumper traffic, so it gets worse and worse.

when i was stationed at Fort Lewis one year, they got 2 inches of snow and they closed the the entire coast line for it. me being born and raised in Michigan, 2 inches was like a rain storm. in Michigan it would take about 2 and a half feet or more to close the roads down. the vehicle i had was a 2 wheel drive pickup, i just threw about 150-175 pounds of sandbags over each wheel well and had no problem with the snow

It doesn't look closed to me and also apears to be more than 2 inches. Washington is the rainy state. Very high water content snow packs down to ice very quickly.

Gotta thank you for this coverage. The volume of traffic over this pass is amazing and having been caught on it when it gets closed is really bad . This is a mountain pass not some eastern toll road with cities and shelters all around, here you stay in your car and wait it out. Great reason to have snacks, water, and heavy blanket with you.

@JAG Thanks for using your head and stopping. The more off the road the faster the crews can clean the roads. An accident, even minor, can be very costly much more than losing a few hours on the road.

When the he....l is WA State DOT going to realize that all season and M/S tires are not real snow tires. They are almost useless below 32 deg. Real snow tires (mt peak snow flake symbol) should be required when the traction tire sign is up. Spin outs/accidents happen every year in the passes with people driving with all season tires thinking they are snow tires. Unless you have real snow tires chains should be required on all vehicles including awd/4wd when the traction tire sign is up. It would cut way down on the number of spin outs and accidents and especially help to keep the passes open.
