Most rats don't move a 330. Kind of a let down when you get them. Got a few snapping turtle that way tho. Odd season for turtle soup but I'm not gonna gripe. But I must say I do love beaver meat. BBQ with cinnamon added for a tasty treat. Castor is an awesome bonus.

30 years ago in a gravel pit in the Trinity River Bottoms near Fort Worth Tx 30 degree weather but no ice I head shot a 60 pound Beaver no guessing it was weighed on a fish scale. It was tricky dragging it over the side of a 10 foot John boat.

Brings back memories of the early 1980's when fur prices was high. Done alot of trapping then. Largest beaver on a buddy and my line weighed 64lbs. A BRUT!! Trapped in the Itaska Park area. Sad a blanket beaver now days is worth $20. Good job on thinning the population down. :)
@@330Maniac yeah we got five that day. Drug them up and down hills for about 200yds.lol...now days I would of had to skin em. And carrying the hides would be enough.haha :)
That'll keep you busy for a while in the skinning shack. Want Big beaver ,set away from house .almost always get small at house sets. That's my experience anyway. Take care.
great video as always. My trapping partner and I made our first sets this year for beaver. We set castor mounds and connected. Two beaver were mid 40 pounds and 3/4 of a mile further up stream we connected on two, 39 pounds and 37 pounds. We didn't catch any small beaver after the initial catch. Three days of nothing and we pulled the traps. We made our sets at 2:30 in the afternoon and 6 1/2 hours later we had two. Do you think we should reset because of the lack of catching any small beaver? I'm sure there has to be some there.
That depends if you want to catch the small ones. I've found you don't catch many small ones on castor mounds. And there just might not be any little guys in there as well. Thanks!!

Question(s) about bank dens/lodges. Would two different beaver family's be living in that lodge and bank den? Or one single family in both? Also, is there any reason why a beaver would live in one or the other? Thank you for taking the time to make this instructional videos. It really helps us young ( or older ) new trappers. We get a little money. They are mostly trapped because they are a nuisance here. County pays me 100.00 per beaver to remove them
