The Suspicious cards are some of the best design I've seen in a long time in HS, and so fitting for arena as well. All the mindgames and it's such a fun card for both sides, which is very rare.
The warlock game was hilarious where warlock uses the weapon, goes to too low hp, and Trump never even used his.
They're so simple yet so fun
in ladder Alchemist is just decent stats that adds a good card to your hand, the spell is almost always weaker in your opponent's hand because it lacks synergy
I think it would have been easy to fall into the trap of making it so that if the enemy guesses it, you get nothing (instead of both getting it anyway), which is a problem a lot of cards fall into. Pretty much all cards need to be guaranteed to do Something to be good, even if the value of that something can vary wildly. A card needs to have a very very large payoff to be worth considering if it has a chance to just literally do nothing.
Basically, by making it so that the fail condition is a benefit for your opponent instead of a detriment to you, they perfected the balance to make the cards like, actually useable.
I hate when they play against me because they always pick the best card, and I'm like WHY WOULD YOU DO THAT??????? That or it's 2 cards that I don't want in my hand and a card that could be good, and probably isn't the correct choice, but I pick it anyway because the 2 other I don't want in my hand, and in the end it cleary wasn't the correct choice so whatever...

And then too much time had passed to sell it as a snap pick, so he committed to acting like he’s contemplating his decision

I see his point of health doesn't matter until it matters but incremental damage matters. That's the whole reason you go face instead of always trading. 1/6 their max health is a large amount.

Awesome run! The arena rewards should be the ones getting a buff though. 12 wins and they still give golden commons and golden rares feels bad.

@@Chaelsonen Yeah, the more I play arena and consistently see very mediocre rewards, the more I feel like the rewards aren't even worth the time I put into it. I value my time for playing 10+ games more than a 100 gold profit.

Golden cards are imo the best rewards for Arena players, it's the only thing you can bring into the mode - but yeah, the gold should be higher

It's a rare scenario but it makes sense since you have an attack stat during your turn
It happened rarely with misdirection but yeah, it’s the inherent narrow design space of attack values being tied with retaliation damage. You can’t attack a character with attack and not take damage or lose divine shield, unless you’re immune.
All effects that give heroes attack read "this turn", and weapons have this weird closing effect on the opponent’s turn (what is that even supposed to represent in warcraft lore?) it’s just a workaround around the inital design instead of designing the core of the game with that in mind in the first place.
But that discussion probably belongs in 2013, we’re way past that in 2022
@@Icetea-2000 the closing of the weapon is to show its inactive (during that turn) so they have a reason to say your hero doesnt have an attack stat

@@excelsiusprime there was a bug with choose both and that wisp spell that let you use it on an empty board. A hero with 5 permanent attack dealt 5 damage to all attackers

I think he was referring to the fact that they're a warlock that likes to tap so even if at 30 they will be doing dmg to themselves and if they use thebane as well then its good for him since they'll be low hp at that point

Can someone tell me how does Trump get the winrates for his draf picks hover over the cards from both heartharena and hsreplay?
I've quit hs a while back, cause it's quite hard to keep up as a f2p. But since I got this recommended somehow guess I could watch, love seeing all these familiar cards mixed in with infusion(whatever that is).
Same, haven’t played in years but this got recommended cuz I’ve been watching some rarran videos. No clue what infusion does but was able to follow enough. Plus watching trump suffer as he is forced to actually make quick decisions is always fun
Somehow I can’t figure out how to play arena. Every second game is over at turn 5 because my opponent has an absolutely insane early play.
The secret is to take absolutely insane early plays and play them early. Sounds silly but it's really the way - Curvestone may have died in Constructed but its spirit lives eternal in Arena.

As Reality Master Rogue says - HSReplay and HearthArena. HSReplay is a straight up data aggregation website, so the number is just the winrate of decks containing the card. HearthArena is an Arena helper program that takes your deck into account and adjusts its card scores depending on synergies with your deck or what the deck needs (so if you have no 2 drops it'll boost 2 drop scores) to try to help you craft a better deck. Basically straight data vs a predictive algorithm
