Why are Watford not playing in yellow when there is no clash? This happens more and more these days. Is it just a cynical ploy to sell more kits?
You answered your own question. Yes it is to see more shirts
If this has not been altered the EFL requires 2nd choice kits to be used in at least 12 games to be able to be marketed as “away kit”. Therefore, even where there is no kit clash they have to use to reach the required 12.
The reason you see this more often as clubs have moved to annual changes of kits, this is why clubs colours are seen less in away fixtures, to reach the required 12 games.
@@kevinshanahan6064 This is the problem. Although it has always (at least in my memory) been known colloquially as “away kit” it is in fact a change kit and used to be only used if there was a clash. Personally I would like to see my team play in their proper kit as often as possible especially given that away kit colours change regularly.
