Let me correct you again...the term "Mecca of something" is a colloquially used one...now it has been standardized.... Upar se tapak ke nahi aya hain aise...it has been used for decades and generations for Salt Lake Stadium.
Now this is the exact reason, why we need a club outside of Kolkata, May be one from Jongolmohol, Rarh, area or the Tribal areas. So people from that region of Bankura, Purulia, Jhargram can associate themselves with a club representing their own idegenous culture. Even Uttarbanga needs one for the 5 main areas Jalpaiguri, Siliguri, Darjeeling, Alipuedurar, Coochbehar The Entire Football scenario of Bengal has been only limited to Kolkata which is not sustainable.
We need a state league. It's time to scrap Kolkata league and make a Bengal football league where other district clubs can play. Divide it into East West North and South and play the games and once the league is done make a knockout setting to declare the winner.
Agreed, but instead of club investment which requires at present to run at some level is between 10-12 cr. And in remote areas it's difficult to find a sponsor and sustain, only a good district level tournament, home and away basis and developing football stadiums in each of the district headquarters can bring in tough competition and a football atmosphere.
