Italo Disco 1985 -1986 - Best mixing technique of the 80's (ITALIAN MIXING STYLE)

In this track, with an old malfunctioning mixer recorded with a sony cam, I tried to make a synthesis of the best mixing technique of the mid-80s, listened when I was little more than a child struggling with my first mixer... I also tried, as far as possible, to highlight the style of paninaro mixage... that type of syle of mixage capable of creating great emotions on the dance floor (long and melodic overlays with some joke during the mix)... considering that people want to dance and not listen for stupid noises. In this first mix we chose some representative pieces of the paninaro sound. Although the musical level of some pieces is poor, and I recognize it, overall this mix represents the musical style of those years with the relative Italian mixing technique.
This style of mixing, which we could also call European, is recognized by the particular long and melodic fusions ... in the continuous search for the thrill of mixing. While the best US mixing technique is mainly focused on quick cuts and scratches (GRANDMASTER FLASH)... where American DJs in the mid 80's were far more advanced.
Beginning to make my first mixing shit at the end of 1983 (some tapes mixed with recorders and vinyls in 7 inches) at 12 years old, I started listening to the tapes of the great DJs that were recorded directly in discos (FABER CUCCHETTI, MARCO TRANI, MASSIMO DJ BANI, RICCARDO CIONI, PAUL MICIONI, CHARLIE....). These tapes were an exceptional material ... something that can be defined as a cult for all the italian DJs generation of the 80s. The myth of the perfect mixage....but only with beautiful music. This type of music and this type of mixing style perfectly matched the romanticism of the clothing style in the mid 80's... The Paninaro style was characterized by an explosion of colors, in full harmony with the 80's... Moncler banana yellow, pink, purple, green, sky blue, fire red ... el charro belt ... timberland, adidas los angeles trainer, best company t-shirts....
The distinctive thing about paninaro fashion was the amount of different colors. While all the other fashions were in just one color...DARK, METAL, HARD ROCK .. Most of them tending towards black. The sacred dress of the Paninaro boys was the moncler..in any color... especially the brightest ones. The urban legends tell that the heavy metal boys used to steal moncler from the "Paninari "at the disco ...and these situations were present in Italy. Real fights were being created between the heavy metal boys and the Paninaro boys.
Personally I can say that I was not a real "paninaro" for my independent disposition and for the fact that in Rome this type of fashion was mixed with other essential disco styles such as that of the districts of Northern Rome (adidas tobacco, colored polo...) that could be seen outside the discos on Saturday and Sunday afternoon, where in the 80s in Rome or MIlan, in the afternoon, more than 50 discos were open with many excellent DJs... as in all the other cities of Italy.

En este video traté de hacer una síntesis de la mejor técnica de mezcla de los 80, que escuché cuando era poco más que un niño luchando con mi primer mezclador ... También intenté, en la medida de lo posible, resaltar el estilo de mezcla del DJ paninaro... ese tipo de mezcla capaz de crear grandes emociones en la pista de baile (fusiones largas y melódicas con alguna posa de arte durante la mezcla). Este estilo de mezcla, que también podríamos llamar europeo, se centra en fusiones largas y melódicas particulares ... en la búsqueda continua de la emoción de la mezcla. Mientras que la técnica de mezcla de USA se centra principalmente en cortes rápidos y scratch (GRANDMASTER FLASH) ... donde los DJ estadounidenses de mediados de los 80 estaban mucho más avanzados.
