- Over a decade ago Sony was still experimenting with hendhelds but this time tried to combine a PSP Go with Sony Xperia Arc mobile phone which failed miserably but does that mean that the Xperia Play was a bad product? Let's find out!

Sony really let this device down, could have been an amazing success, if sony brought back a remake of this phone today, and it had a massive library of games and great hardware, it would fly off the shelf's
It's all about the games. They kinda blew their chance.
I reemeber thinking this was so sexy back in the day. I've always thought Sony phones just have a certain something that elevates them above the competition. But just like everyone, I've never bought one
I had this phone. The use of emulators was the best part. I played alot of super street fighter 2 turbo on the go.
I know Sony can't openly support emulation, but I bet this would be a decent hit if they released a new one with modern hardware.
Just the regular Android suite would allow people to play PlayStation games with PS Remote Play, and I think a decent chunk of people that load their phones up with emulators would take this over a gaming phone that has the internal performance, but still needs a telescoping controller like a Backbone, or a mount for a regular controller. It would make this a super-portable solution that we really just don't have right now.
I'd love to see Sony try something like this again. Their smartphones are already super niche with the cameras and high price points. I don't think this would sell like a Galaxy or an iPhone, but I bet it would sell better than their current phones do at least.
As always Sony expected device to carry itself like Vita. Anyways I'm expecting mine Xperia to arrive this week. I want it to run Java mobile games and emulate NES, SNES and GBA. Xperia Play Discord is a great place to start with discovering apps.
By the way the First Playstation one phone was the nokia ngage it had tomb raider :) i still got it working

Somebody looked at a PSP Go at Sony and was like you know what we're going to turn it into a cell phone ☠️
If you root it and get a ram upgrade mod it will become a super machine buttt the processor will cook fast really fat
I had that phone, it was amazing and everybody in school watched me playing games 😂 than i drowned it in Toilet 💀
Imo its something that is only to be bought as a collectable. I thought about it and while i doubt i would regret it as a collectable, the problem is i would never use it.
Why not compare to psp Go 😂 and i bet you can play all psp eboots which are better smoother than ps 1 converted isos

I bought this phone recently and I wasn’t able to download anything I was so bummed out that I completely forgot about it and I pretty much lost it
How did you add these games and what format? I cannot find a tutorial for setting up Playstation Pocket
Had to convert them to it's proprietary format.

Its not a playstation phone. Its an Android.. with the capability to emulate ps1 games.. which sucks.. the graphics are stretched out. And very uncomfortable to hold.
