Mainland China is the richest country in the world by PPP which is a far more accurate measurement than wealth than GDP particularly in times of High inflation.
Nice try but Taiwan ain't in the same league as Mainland China.
Mainland China is Taiwan's biggest trading partner by a long way so Western mentality of trying to separate the Chinese province of Taiwan with the mainland would completely destroy the Taiwanese economy, but you're an ignorant Westerner & don't care about that eh?

The countries supported by the United States in launching military actions are all allies of the United States; The United States generally supports puppet regimes and then delivers benefits to itself through these puppet regimes; For example, making the oil of puppet countries an asset of American companies. They claim to be a beacon of democracy, but support a brutal feudal monarchy like Saudi Arabia. They invade a country often under the pretext of opposing terrorism. What a joke, you got to ask first what Lai wants to be independent from.Lai’s agenda is to be independent from Republic of China(ROC), he dislikes the ROC constitution claiming the territory of both mainland China and the island of Taiwan and desires to change that. It has nothing to do with People’s Republic Of China(PROC). The problem PROC has, is Potsdam declaration’s agreement of returning the Taiwan island to China, and which government represents China. People just forget that the civil war of China never ended between the PROC and ROC, like the north and South Korea.

If a thousand years ago, our Vietnamese ancestors had said: "We cannot win against China", there would be no Vietnam today.
Taiwan is so blessed compared to Dai Viet a millennium ago. Taiwan is richer than China. Its economy is sophisticated and deeply connected to the international community. It has at its disposal advanced weaponries that will make defense of its sovereignty much easier against enemy numbers. And it has a 100-km-wide protective sea moat! Vietnam was and is connected to China by land and had to fight ground wars.
If the Taiwanese people are immovable in their will to be independent, I'm sure there will be a way. If a small country such as Vietnam could do it a thousand years ago with no allies, a modern Taiwan can handily do it, too!

For Taiwan issue, you only need to know 3 key things:
    1) For PRC, CCP and Chinese on Mainland, this is an unfinished Chinese Civil War. You can accurately predict their action based on That.
    2) For PRC, CCP and Chinese on Mainland, Taiwan issue is behind the China competition with US and breaking US containment, unless DPP forces CCP's hand with formal declaration of Independency or equivalent actions like changing the Current Whole China Constitution to independence one.
    3) US wants using Taiwan to contain or weaken PRC/CCP, but not a direct war with China. This is exactly the Ukraine situation.

Also, DDP did not win the majority in the parliament; KMT became the largest party there.
