I've been a musician my entire life, love the Beatles, Stones, Miles Davis, Return To Forever, but these guys are probably the best thing Europe ever sent us!!! Talk about balls out "fuck everything" rock, doing it marvelously, and with such detail!!! Just this one hit should land them in the R&R Hall of Fame!!!
@@bobnee4794 It almost makes up for the centuries of dour, unsmiling staidness and stolid-ness that the Dutch shared with the rest of the world. Okay - throwing in your cocoa, tulips and Rembrandt along with Focus, I guess the world owes you some thanks.
Europe did not send it to you! Europe just did it BUT you consider yourself the center of the world 😂 ... Influenced by the Beatles and the Stones - wooohoooo
this drummer has always been absolutelt incredible to me, he literally mastered that 70's tatata groove. its just insane, he just keeps going and going like it was nothing
All members of Focus where/are extremely talented in their way. Would they have been from Uk or USA they would have been eternally popstars. Glad we can still enjoy them after so many years
I've watched interviews of Focus talking about how this song is just a joke to everyone who was there when they jammed and made it. It was all for fun and you can see that by the way they are laughing at each other. Music should always be just for fun, even if you are making mufti-millions of dollars. The moment you stop having fun it shows.
How come this is the first time I listen to Focus.. WHERE THE FUCK HAVE I BEEN? Wandering on the internet 24 hs and NEVER listened to them. Luckily I'm young (16) and can listen to them for the rest of my life. Simply amazing. Made me smile like A BIEG SMILE. Thanks for putting this video.
I have listened to dozens of videos of this song and have yet to hear them play it the same way twice. That is definitely what keeps me from getting bored with watching them play this song repetitively. It also makes me want to yodel (to Muleskinner Blues).
I only just got introduced to this tune. First time I heard it I thought it was nuts... but damn... it's amazing... how many tunes can you say have the balls to be as experimental and creative as this?
The first time I heard this song, I was a junior at college and went to see my cousin in San Diego. We smoked a joint and turned up the loud speakers incredibly loud. From the first notes, I blasted off and imagined I was traveling in space...when the ride was over, we looked at each other and cracked up. What a song! What a journey. And, although I haven't smoked the evil weed in 30-plus years, the song still holds up. Way to go, Focus!
Incredible virtuous band! I knew from 1985 when I was a child and now I discover that Van Leer played with Miguel Rios at the Rock´n´Rios tour 1982,the best live concert ever seen in España!.Great,I love it.
Magnificent group. Saw them for the first time on "In Concert" on ABC in 1973(?) and immediately went out and bought their album, "Moving Waves" the next day.
This was a great group. You can't come up with something like this if you have no talent. Very simplistic yet so powerful. I feel that growing up in the 60's and 70's is such a treasure for me. I feel very fortunate to have been able to watch rock & roll grow from a tiny seed back in the 50's to a beautiful rose in the 70's. Unfortunately just like the rose it withers and dies. Maybe someday a seed will again be planted and another beautiful flower will come of it. If it is going to happen, it better be soon or else I'm gonna miss it!!!
Just heard this on the radio while driving home from school, and I fell in love with it immediately. The moment I got home, I looked up the name of it, and now I'm here.
That...was amazing.. I've never heard anything like it before! It truly inspires me and makes me comfortable with being unique with my music! I hope I can sound half as good as this one day
If there is anybody who would claim to be or to have seen the best Dutch band ever, let them watch this Video. They would all have to agree this was the best Dutch band ever.
@@MrTrotty57 yes !!! I bought this single when I was a teen but I bought many , many singles of the Golden Earring. Loved all their songs .. they are great group . And being Belgian I also loved the Pebbles ( but loved Golden Earring more )
LOL! The lead guitarist stopped to take a hit off a fucking joint! Fucking hilarious! Also, that was the weed smokin-est f70's style flute solo at the beginning I've ever heard!!!
Was that album Moving Waves/Focus II by Focus? That album has the fantastic, twenty-three minute long b-side, "Eruption" which is one of the greatest pieces of prog rock ever put to wax.
I still remember when this was released...My Friends and i were like OMG, WTF is this...these guys are nuts. Still love it. As you can see, it helped inspire my TH-cam handle...
Maybe I'm biased being Dutch myself, but to me me, this song is in a class all it's own. I listen to the extended version while cruising down the road. I have to use "cruise" or I'll end up going 100 mph. I challenge anyone to duplicate those vocals or guitar riffs.
I first saw this band live at The Oval Cricket Ground in 1974, they really stole the whole show, ELP and many other bands were also appearing, pure artistry, and energy.

Yodelling, flute and organ - that guy is a genius!
Organ icon in flute ncion of yoga doodle.
Drunk to much😢
Every time I get to this song in a new location it’s a totally different version! Amazing
It's Jan Akkerman. One of the best guitar players ever. Santana's great master!
legendary man, never in the spotlights.
Bought my Les Paul because of him!
This song has to be a world record for something, just haven't figured out what category. Wow!
Yodelling
Most instruments played at once with a single hand?
All of them?
PROG (Progressive Rock).
Most drugs taken during the composition of a song.
I love how from the jazzy beggining they change to a much rocker style. Cool

Dunno what a tatata groove is but what Pierre is doing is just amazing. Classic jazz drumming to a rock beat.
Yo, bro. What’s a 70s tatata groove? Care to show a 70s song that demonstrates?

love the guitarist laughing in the background when he first yodels :P
Laughing while finishing his joint then put in the ashtray and continue the song...
The yodeling started as a joke thats why hes laughing
Melodic and rythmical perfection created by the musical gods of this earth. Focus will live forever.

Back when people could REALLY play music. I wish people would watch this. We would have even more of this kind of stuff.

Thanks Focus for your music, one of the greatest bands ever!!!
I love this, It brings back my high school days. Wish I hadn't lost the 45 of this song o well, I got Utube to help bring back those memories, Thanks

Sounds great, but Hubert Lass is THE CAT for Jazz flute. Check out McCoy Tyner's "Fly With the Wind" (original). Hubert kills it...
