There’s just something about Eddie Vedder. I can’t take my eyes off him. He’s so immersed in the music. This is particularly powerful because it’s autobiographical for Eddie
Only partially autobiographical thank goodness. It's a song about how this guy ends up a serial killer. Luckily Eddie has listened to his fans over the years and has turned his performance of this song into more of an affirmation than what was originally intended. 💕
@@christianeflentie1228 I can remember reading an article in Rolling Stone around '91 or 2 (I'm that old - I had a subscription to the magazine) where he said that 'the look, oh you know where' is about the mother of the person he's writing about. Where he's talking about looking is a body part south of the waist only present in females. Idk, I think that was the same article where Eddie said the name for the band came from the psychedelic mushroom jelly his grandmother Pearl made. That turned out to be bullshit, Eddie said as much, so I can't say. He's never straightened out the meaning of 'Alive' and he doesn't need to. It means what it means to you.
Isn't he a beautiful gorgeous talented man and what a voice! He's one of my favorite singers and band, so is Alice in Chains ( Layne Staley R.I.P.) another beautiful man the best voice in the world!! I love Pearl Jam FOREVER, thank you for your reaction it was great!!
Thank you so much. I couldn't agree more!!!! A few people suggested Alice in Chains, they must be really good... the beautiful part is always a bonus 😉
@@kailamay2278 they will most likely be doing a make up tour next year..now many of us have been holding our 2020 tour tickets for over a year but some have gotten refunds so you might see some tickets pop up or they may decide to add a few new shows..believe me when I say a PJ show is a life changing experience..I first saw them in 1996 in front row..was unbelievable.
Thank you for taking on the feedback about when to pause, it’s appreciated. Eddie is a really intense singer, you feel him more than you hear him, generally. This song however, even though he sings it intensely, it’s kinda catchy and upbeat so people often miss how dark the lyrics are. The first verse is about Eddie’s own life, finding out as a teen that his dad wasn’t really his dad and that his real father had already passed away. The second verse is fiction and is about the mother sexually abusing the son because he reminds her so much of his father. The song began as a lament of sorts and over the years fans have given it a more celebratory meaning. It’s part of a trilogy of songs called the Momma-Son trilogy, with Once and Footsteps being the second and third songs. I recommend checking them out if you’re interested, they tell the tale of the abused boy who grew into a serial killer and ended up on death row.
@@kailamay2278 you won’t be disappointed. Their songs are very deep and full of meaning. If you want to hear the full power of Eddie’s vocals I suggest listening to Release (live in Holland). The song is about his real father and is very emotional.
Agree with Elizabeth. Oceans. Still can't believe some of you are just hearing Pearl Jam after 30 years. They're still going. Just put out a album last year
Kai, If you like these unplugged versions where it focuses on Eddie Vedder's voice then you should listen to a song he does called "Footsteps"... This is not a well known song but Eddie does the song with just himself and an acoustic guitar. This is one of his best vocals and I love Pearl Jam. Keep up the channel love the reactions as well this was my favorite era of music.
Fantastic review... Pearl Jam is so underrated. What Eddie does with music is on a profoundly different level emotionally/socially/artistically. P.S.- what did you knock over at 2:07, the world needs to know!!

Hi i love pearl jam, have you already reacted to Even Flow? I saw that on your TH-cam channel that you reacted to Jeremy, Black and now Alive ... they have too many good songs, all the MTV unplugged ones are good in case you want to react to them !! 💜
Hey I noticed you haven’t done any vids lately, just want to say Agreat content. New subscriber also, I suggest you check out Eddie Vedder being the front man for the doors when they were inducted into the R&R HOF take care fellow Canadian
You want raw emotion mate? Sinead O' Connors cover of 'Nothing Compares' is a knockout tune, also The Cranberries music is nice and emotive and they are both Irish lasses so have a unique quality. Also any Bowie/Iron Maiden/Dio but that's more my personal jam. Also my vote is for 80's music in general but all great choices so far - fucking Pearl Jam and Nirvana means the the tide of watchers so far have guided you well with ACE CHOICES!

All you’re Pearl Jam reactions seem to be to their unplugged acoustic performances. You should really be reacting to their actual electric album versions.
@Kai Lamay They are fantastic live, but the album versions are phenomenal. You should check out the music videos for the songs you have already reacted to. Best of both worlds.

He's mesmerizing. You can't take your eyes off him. Not to mention he's pretty hot. Still is, although much older. Eddie is awesome.
Pearl Jam is a top 5 live band of all time. I've seen them live 16 times and every show was over 2 hrs long. Some shows are over 30 songs!
