Hey, I am a WYDOT supervisor. Sounds like I need to watch more of your fencing videos, so we can build our fences better. By the way on Wyoming highway 59 the coal miners test our fences like this all the time!
I agree with you on most points except the safety glasses. Especially outside easy enough to wear sunglasses. Local3 electrician NYC. You see enough people lose an eye you start wearing em. Thanks for the videos!
Always entertaining watching/listening to one contractor talk chit about the contractor who was there before they got there today😅 ever ending blah blah blah throwing each-other under the bus
I'm watching videos on how to build a perimeter fence out of fresh cut cedar posts and standard rolled wire 1047, I think. Anyway, I don't know if any fence will hold up to a car being driven through it? This doesn't seem like a reasonable test. Thanks for putting this video out, anyway.
I personally always go with the hbrace and knee brace so one section rail goes across and second section rail from top to the ground if you know what I mean lol
I like your attitude. Says it like it is. We have neighbors run thru our fences usually at least once a year. This test will help me a little to hold them back.
From a safety perspective alone the flip flops are stupid and from quality control angle why would i want someone who threw his level to provide me a fence that is plumb and straight
It's on our list! We're dying to! Might make a trip early next year. Email your info to our production coordinator and maybe we can look you up when we come! nick@swiwyoming.com
Your diagonals are backwards for wood fence. They’ll cause the corner to lift. The opposite direction will transfer the lift from the corner to the brace so both have to lift at the same time.
Looks like he skipped steepling stays and didn't beat them in. We put two on each stay on braces and beat them in after stretching to hold, and snug the steeples in the line posts.
This goes to show you that anyone can make it Merica. You can be a "craftsman" and not know how to use a hammer. Of course, getting 9 gauge wire in the eye, a fence post on a bare foot, or a pressure treated splinter in your hand may slow you down a bit, at least you can tell everyone how to build a fence.
Wow those posts really are garbage, it really depends where you go. My local “farming” shop sells £6 posts which are first of all overpriced and second of all they are of the lowest quality. Treatment only goes a few millimetres into the timber. Whereas at my local timber supplier who specialises in fencepost treatment, I can get the same dimension posts which are incised (have 6mm deep cuts to absorb more chemical), kiln dried before treatment to absorb more chemical and also slow grown pine which are more durable than cheap spruce posts. And the best part is that they’re only £4 each for 180cm high 88mm diameter 15 year service life posts. The treatment goes in at least a good half inch into the timber, I still retreat it with copper nampehenate though when I make cuts just to help it last longer. What you really want though are creosote redwood posts, these are made of redwood which is naturally much more durable than pine, they are also pressure treated with creosote which makes them last 40+ years at least! After cutting one in half you can see that the treatment almost reaches the core which is damn impressive.

i hope your doing the end knot better now with a termination knot
Perhaps I just missed you saying... but how deep are your posts set? (both wood and metal)
We generally drive to 36" around here, which is below frost.
@@SWiFence thanks for the reply.

Everyone's an expert right? 😏 Seriously though, this is more about talking smack about the industry as a whole. Let's move it forward for once!!

Appreciate the effort you go through to teach fence building
👍🏻

I like to be direct for sure. Glad you enjoyed it!
Fire the neighbors
The thing is.... EVERYONE has opinions on how to build a fence. And EVERYONE believes that their way is the correct way.😂
I thought 150 was Fence spec. I always do 200 . Thanks for the videos
Are you referring to tension? In WY they don't even care about that. They have no idea how to check it.
Hard to take advice from a guy in shorts and slippers who throws his level around like that
Sounds like a you problem 😂 the rest of us are benefiting from the advice just fine
He knows what he's doing but I definitely cringed when he tossed the level
Maybe you should make your own video.
From a safety perspective alone the flip flops are stupid and from quality control angle why would i want someone who threw his level to provide me a fence that is plumb and straight
Yep, I've watched 6 or 8 videos all saying the right way, but I would not any of the them to build fence for me.
I like the red strainer ,,,better, even though you have to go to the opposite side of fence to stretch the wire.
Hay come to New Zealand well sho you how to build a fence 😊

Grind the gabby off before welding then spray cold galvy over after. Comes in can
Agreed. We do this.

We will have to agree to disagree.
The diagonal are correct
@ wagoner farm his diagonals are correct. Better go check your fence lines.
If the diagonal wires were the other direction it would be helping the rest of the wires pull the brace over rather than pulling against it
Where can I get a 9 gauge stapler?
We swear by Stockade equipment. Put your zip code in and look for a dealer: www.stockade.com/where-to-buy/united-states-buy

WHY DO YOU PUT THE TOP WIRE IN FIRST?????
CONVENIENCE, REALLY. THAT'S JUST THE WAY I DO IT.
I do not use nails I use screws 4 in
I used 12 inch spikes
I use lag bolts through the post into the rails
Why not compare apples to apples and use wood for both styles?

Tell us how you really feel. 😉
I don't comment much. But I sure would like to see you weld in those flip-flops 😂😂😂😂
I've done it, to be sure, but I don't have proof. The best I can give you is welding in shorts: th-cam.com/video/B-xmV1AhhOo/w-d-xo.html
@SWiFence I didn't Say you hadn't done it. I believe it. I used to be a welder so its always funny to watch others do stupid stuff 😂 🤣 😅

the guy behind the camera needs to chill out with the heavy breathing lol
🤣
It is not a tree at all it is now a post get it right!! it is also irresponsible of you to be wearing those flip flops instead of boots.
They call me the flipflop fencer for a reason! 😉
try this to save your fence posts from repairs in the future. th-cam.com/video/mcuAsJ5otrs/w-d-xo.html
Interesting.
Nope nope nope
Yep yep yep
waarom dragen je mensen geen werkschoenen ! geen opleiding gehad !

Ffs man those joints are terrible. I wouldn't be calling out the worlds fencers when your doing that crap
Painful. Commentary silly.
Discouraging. Comment saddening. 😢
