every time maresca has decided to play gusto as an attacking inverted wingback in the half space, we have dropped points. maybe we could have gone with a more offensive player there in felix or kdh. great video man :D
We cant because Felix cant play full back role. He is not as nearly as good tracking back, closing down and tackling. At least in my opinion.I think that gusto can improve when inverting in double pivot role rather than the 10 role. He is good progressor of the ball but not a creator. He is quite strong also which means that he can defend the ball with his back
Did we drop 2 points when he was Introduced in the second half to replace Lavia against Spurs. It is wrong to define Gusto in this role only based on this attacking input when the role involves a lot more than drifting into that right half space. He also aids out counter pressing efforts and doubles in the wide areas. We didn’t have Cucurella and that’s why Gusto played.
@@nnaemekaekwegh4052 im not blaming gusto, im blaming maresca for playing him in the half space... our attack has been limited because of it which as been proven every time maresca decided to play gusto there. we could have had veiga stepping to midfield and enzo playing in the half space as he usually do :)
How to beat these teams is.. 1. Double up against their fullback.. with a winger and your own fullback. 2. Let your midfielders make a deep run into the box to meet a cross or a pass .. 3... Be very good on the ball, precise, accurate and be quick. 4. A good striker. If you lose these four things, forget winning against these teams. Maresca showed his limitations again... He showed it against Forest and now Everton. When teams leave spaces for Chelsea, Chelsea do well... But when it's closed, Maresca's limitations are revealed.
My question is, why did he use the 3-1-6 formation in this game? I saw everton degending with a back 5 at many points. If we had attacked with 6 like we did against Brentford we could have outnumbered them...
Enzo Maresca is not a title winning coach.... Yet. He is still a feel good coach.. This Everton game and Forest game are similar.... Chelsea were lucky to get a draw... Because Maresca doesn't know how to play these teams yet.
@talkfootballty2025 I have watched Chelsea win titles, I have studied their title run.... I watched Leicester won it against odds, though that season favoured them, cos big teams went asleep... There are games where if you win, you give yourself a ladder.. Forest and Everton were two games that showed me Maresca is not ready yet or he don't know how.. Chelsea were lucky to get a draw in those two games. Please go and watch West brom vs Chelsea 0-1 win....under Conte winning season... We didn’t draw the game because Gusto played. Far from it. Everton was organized, man marked our wingers and setup to counter attack and feed off turnovers. It was a game of few chances on both sides which was not converted. As the game progressed and in view of the difficult conditions it is easy to understand why the emphasis was now on controlled possession and not taking any unnecessary risks to force a win. That was a game that we easily could have lost.

Maresca intentionally want to draw to stop title race pressure which is bad from Maresca
That was a great observation so subscribed
We really missed cucu
We missed Cucu's service but i believe that if Maresca had brought in Felix instead of Noni, Chelsea would've done better..
When Gusto plays as an attacking inverted fullback. He's impact to the team is infective.

It’s a DRAW. Remember Chelsea is not in title race… just a team trying to escape relegation.
