    And thanks to you, almost all of these upgrades will be seen on my printer. Appreciate the video!

    Great video. I agree, i've been avoiding getting into printing upgrades as i'm not 100% sure on what is 'needed' yet, but these look like a great start. keep it up

    Use white teflon tape on the screws when mounting the printer. It won't let the screw get unscrewed. Modifying the heated bed screws will make it way more stable. Just remove the springs, remove the screw threads and put 2 thumb wheels on each screw. it will make the bed super firm and won't wooble with the springs.

    Another good upgrade you should do is a new cooling nozzle. It really helps with print layer quality

      Oh, I probably should try that.

      before you do, watch 3D Maker Noob video about that, you will find that the stock fan duct is not so bad.

      ye ive seen it, but there are some that work a bit better according to your filament type

      the Prusa clone is very very good (the cooling nozzle) the other one very good is the semi circle one. Also, print the anti vibe damper mount, it will make the printer very very silent.

    Agree with Spencer carr. Definitely upgrade the cooling nozzle. Also, you should print a filament spool holder. It will allow the spool to spin much more freely.

      I did print the Spriya nozzle (www.thingiverse.com/thing:2133328) and my first useful print was these guys: www.thingiverse.com/thing:127181 which work fantastically to keep the spool moving easily.

    Just a tip Don't move your x,y,z by hand like that when you do that, the stepper motors create voltage and will fry your drivers/breakout board/motherboard . Basic CNC knowledge Only do it when your steppers are unplugged

    • @kaden56
      @kaden56 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      effyou128 If you move them at a reasonably low speed the drivers are totally fine. I’ve moved mine around when the steppers are just disabled but still plugged in for a couple years now and haven’t had any problems.

      All you have todo is disable the drivers in the menu

    Hey, Do you use Cura? If u do, can you make a video of settings for Anet A8?

  • @The_English_Miner
    @The_English_Miner ปีที่แล้ว

    May i ask, What Cura settings do you have?
    I print my Anet A8 at 0.15 layer height, and 50mm/s print speed.. and honestly.. Its not the best quality print...

    Would it be possible to get the files for the electronics case

    • @dakavanagh
      @dakavanagh  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      That case is now available here: de-signz.co.uk/product/anet-a8-dual-mosfet-motherboard-case-with-reset-button-v2/
      The designer decided it could make a little to help fund more work. IMHO, 99p is not much, so I recommend it still.

    Is that a piece of glass on the tray or is that plexi?

    • @dakavanagh
      @dakavanagh  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      It's simple picture glass. From a frame shop. I had them cut me a couple of pieces 8.5 x 8.5 inches.

      Hi, On another comment, I replied with this link: de-signz.co.uk/product/anet-a8-dual-mosfet-motherboard-case-with-reset-button-v2/
      The case creator elected to move it there and after improvements, is charging .99 euro for it. So, I cannot distribute the case file I used as I'm not the creator and feel that would be unfair to him. You'll spend more than .99 euro in plastic to print it! :-)

    Mount the printer to a plyboard. It will stabilize the machine. Nearly eliminates needing to always re-level the bed.

    • @dakavanagh
      @dakavanagh  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks. After using the printer for over 2 years, I can say I typically don't have to re-level if I leave it on the bench. If I move it, then, I have to go through the process.

    Hey Dave, what on/off switch did you install?

    • @dakavanagh
      @dakavanagh  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I got this one. www.aliexpress.com/item/NEW-HIGH-QUALITY-Red-Light-Power-Rocker-Switch-Fused-IEC-320-C14-Inlet-Power-Socket-Fuse/32720278625.html?spm=a2g0s.9042311.0.0.PlK409
      I flipped the on-off switch so that "on" would be up with the way I had it oriented.

      Now that I have mine built I will follow all all your upgrades. Really like your tensioner systems on the axises and the mother board and mosfet cover and the center for the filament spool. Would like to see some more upgrades from you. keep up the good work.

    how nice, mine looks and prints like shit. The extruder stepper sometimes doesn't even move for some reason.

    • @dakavanagh
      @dakavanagh  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Sorry yours isn't working so well. When a stepper isn't moving properly, it could be wiring or the driver on the board. With the control panel, can you command the extruder to move both directions while you check the wiring? There's a facebook group? facebook.com/groups/1068531466501015

    Hi David, I recommend you print a few of these out. They are magic for quieting down the printer! Also, get some z-axis wobble support for the frame, makes a big difference to the layer stability. I also went Bowden, and its much much better now, especially on corners, and faster print speeds. www.thingiverse.com/thing:2103227
