There's a video by The Charismatic Voice where they do a nasal endoscopy and he's (Will Ramos) screaming and you see all the vocal cord action. It's incredible
I love how you can sit with your acoustic guitar, no pick, just completely raw sound and decipher a key, melody, and scale of whatever it is your listening to, be it thrash metal, pop, or w/e. It’s brilliant and inspiring. Love this channel so much.
Subscribe to Rick Beato's channel too then if you appreciate this type of thing. He's like the master and according to him he doesn't have perfect pitch - very impressive!
You can see and hear Will Ramos do a sing through on his own YT channel. He tours this with no problems and all his vocals are harsh. The Charismatic Voice had Will looked at with a throat cam in an academic setting. He's got no damage and is apparently a "unicorn". He's also just a great fun guy with the enthousiasm of an ADD puppy (in the best possible way)
The opera singer, Elizabeth Zharoff, talked him into letting a throat specialist shove a camera down his throat so Elizabeth could observe what was happening to his vocal cords when he sings. The video of their trip to the doctor's office is on her TH-cam channel, The Charismatic Voice.
Only true musicians can recognize and understand the intrinsic value in every genre of music. Even as a piano player, there's so many lessons I can take from Lorna Shore's tracks.
Like the genre or not, there's so much mastery of their craft packed in this that a musical person of any kind cam pick some of it. It's not just brutal, it's brutal in a very innovative and skilled way.
Props to whoever recommended this. I've never given two craps about deathcore, but their sad and melodic take on the genre lured me in and I can't wait to see them live.
Give a watch of The Charismatic Voice's videos of Lorna Shore. Either To The Hellfire or The Pain Remains. She dives into the lyrics, the video themes, the vocal techniques, all of it. And it is great indeed!
The sad sounding parts are the black metal influences and the symphonic parts go hand in hand with that to make everything dark/sad. It really does go well with how Lorna Shore does it. I am by no means calling myself an expert on black metal, but for more: check out The Halo Effect and Gaerea
Lorna shore has been the only deathcore band that I've been able to fall in love with. Pain remains, despite being out for only 3 months... is my most listened to album this year
I grew up listening to Darkness, Queensryche, Rush, guys like that, because of my dad, and once I found my own tastes , I delved pretty deep into the death core, death metal scene. So genuinely, hearing a musician from the era that got me into rock, positively talk about the music I chose to enjoy, I gotta say, it’s, weirdly, cathartic, almost made me giddy. Haha
Justin seems like such a chilled guy. Massively successful musician in his own rite but has an almost childlike excitement when hearing something new that he doesn’t completely understand. I hope he does some collaborations with other channels, metal musicians and him together would be awesome. He is obviously incredibly knowledgeable in general terms and sees what musicians are doing so quickly, even though it’s not in his genre. Great to watch.
"That's not gunna get on the radio...or in Walmart. But its gone straight into my heart" *grins* haha I love you for introducing me to so much great new music!
I was watching a news report before this video, and I'd forgotten I left the playback speed at x1.5 ... I was very impressed by how quickly you were vocalising the drum beats and the rar-rar-raw voice ... but even at normal speed you're still doing the drums at an amazing speed :D Thanks for positive thoughts towards a genre of music that's heavier than either of us typically listen to (or perform) ...
It's amazing the progression in metal in the last decade. The new understanding in vocals, the techniques to do the harsh vocals safely. It's incredible. And the musicianship is next level.
This is literally the best video on TH-cam I've seen in months. Although this is a somewhat clouded representation of blackened/symphonic deathcore, Lorna Shore are easily one of the most revered deathcore bands of late and their symphonic influence just adds exponential depth to their sound. I trust you are familiar with Elizabeth Zharoff, aka The Charismatic Voice? Last year she built a beautiful relationship with Lorna Shore's vocalist Will Ramos and featured him and the band in multiple videos. In the most intriguing video of this pairing, she uploaded a video of a surgical camera being placed into Will's throat to record visuals of his physical creation of his amazing vocals. With the hairstyle and the boyish looks, he appears more of a pop or alt pop musician, yet the music he creates with his mouthpiece proves him to be an absolute vocal demon. One of my favorite videos of him released last year was one in which he had to listen to clips of different extreme metal tracks and decide whether the vocalizations were created by man or animal. That video shows an intimate view of his incredible personality. Anyway, do a little digging and a bit of research, watch Elizabeth's videos with him and just enjoy the amazing gift that he has given the world with his musical gifts.
when the breakdown hits it literally sounds like just a black hole. I'm not generally a huge deathcore fan but Lorna Shore bring enough black and death metal and just...complete butchery to the table I kinda gotta love them. Will Ramos is a monster.
