    I did the same, bought a cheap blood sugar test kit from Amazon, cut out processed carbs, and lost nearly 4 stone in 6mths which I've maintained.

    Such a relief to hear someone in the media openly confirming what I discovered about inflammation and oils, some years ago. I also lost weight easily by cutting sugar and oils out of my life (1.5 stone) and feel great 👍

    Seed oils are an industrial horror. I don't use them at all. I use lard, butter, dripping, bacon grease etc. If I'm ever at a work event, wedding or that sort of thing and eat what's there, I'll have painful hands and knees the next day. Cut out the seed oils and every carb you can. Sorted.

      When going to a social even you could always not eat. I barely ever eat when not at home. I intermittent fast and refuse to eat during my working day and if I go on a course where lunch is provided I don't eat it. It's actually quite liberating.

    I always say, show me a vegetable that produces oil! Rapeseed oil is horrific.I cook with coconut oil or avocado oil, and I’ve seen a massive improvement in my health since October. I have lost 41.5lb in that time, I have no cravings and by fasting for 16 hours a day I feel younger at the age of 52 that I did when I was 30. Allso, my inflammatory markers are virtually back to normal despite having colitis! It’s true what they say… You are what you eat, and I am living proof of this.

    Sugar, sunflower oil, rapeseed oil - avoid. Cook using butter, or if cooking on high temperatures use advocado oil or lard.

    She doesn't mention the value of exercise, particularly weight training to build muscle or at least maintain the muscle you have which we all lose as we grow older.

    Oil is highly processed, manufacturing heats to a high temperature, which changes its composition. To make it resemble oil, petro chemicals are added. Once I found this out I never touched it again. Always cold pressed extra virgin olive oil, with crop year and origin on the label, also butter and lard. They market vegetable oils as healthy, they are not. Totally agree about the inflammation.

    My poor mother has fallen victim to this lifestyle. She’s loosing so much weight and it’s horrible seeing how restrictive she is. And she knows it’s wrong, seeing her hide her bone broths and coffees, while she feeding the rest of us junk. It’s all well good intentioned but my mother never needed to loose weight and adopting this diet has destroyed her relationship with food and exercise and she’s completely obsessed with ‘health’. And she uses the excuse of ‘it’s for hormones’ or ‘my energy’ but with the amount of exercise she does even during injuries tells me otherwise. She’s constantly drinking ‘detox’ tea and gulping pints and pints of water. It in fact IS a diet and yes well you may lose excess fat and inflammation at first, you’re bones will deteriorate soon enough and you’ll become so obsessed with ‘healthy eating’ and fearful of ‘bad food’ and it could develop into something that controls your entire thoughts all day everyday. I hate what will powder and diet culture as a whole can done to my mum. I just want a mum who acts a s a role model to me, having a normal relationship to food and nutrition and doesn’t separate her eating from the rest of ours and prioritizes exercise over anything else.

      If your nan died at 98, she was brought up on lard and butter, not the toxic veg oils and margarines which only came into play much later in her life.

      @@jazzylyn5857 Yeah but my nan liked a lot of sugar, even during her childhood days. They had a lot during the war. Bread and Jam was a staple. As she got older, she continued to eat sugar. Davinia is making out to be all so simple. It's not. She's just jumping on the LA, California, American self help BS with more fads. Shes taking all these protein powders loaded with goodness what chemicals. It's all a nonsense. The main thing is, people simply eat far too much. Her book is packed with Pseudoscience. She's a privileged girl, now hanging around with all the Hollywood LA hype crowd. Seen and heard it all before. You look at the Elderly going around the supermarket. They fill up their trolleys with .... SUGAR. Cakes galore.

    • @jazzylyn5857
      @jazzylyn5857 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@acquiesce100 I hear you. The thing is, yes, too much sugar is bad for us, but, our bodies know what to do with sugar and can process it, as long as we don't eat too much of it.
      Our bodies struggle with artificial sweetners. A sweetner lands in the tummy and the tummy is like WTF is this alien thing. In 5,000 years our bodies will have evolved enough to process sweetners and vegetable oils, but today, after only 40, 50 years, bodies still can't deal, hence all these diseases and inflammations.
      It's same with flour and cereals products. It's nearly all hybrid seeds used these days to grow wheats and cereals and our bodies are like, WTF is this, we're not designed for whatever this is. But we'll be rocking with this hybrid thing in 5,000 years, hence all the wheat intolerances, and even those people, like me, who don't have wheat intolerances, our bodies are probably still struggling in other ways to process these foreign wheat grains. Back in the day, there were only about 4 or 5 different grains and they'd been around for thousands and thousands of years, no intolerances.
      Today, new hybrids are brought out every year, and it's no coincidence that it's the big boys that are the seed breeders bringing out these hybrids, the same big boys that brought us the weedkillers that give us cancer. Yes, we own your seeds and the weedkiller that is sprayed on your seeds. We found two ways to kill you in one little parcel. Surprise!
      Everyone should be building up a little collection of seeds, fruits and veggies.
      We all need to learn to grow our own stuff and learn how to let soil's natural microbiome feed itself, and feed our seeds, no weedkillers will be necessary.
      Peace.

    • @acquiesce100
      @acquiesce100 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@jazzylyn5857 I hear you. The thing is, the air you breathe outside is polluted and causes you harm. Everything around you does. She has no concrete scientific evidence to back up her claims. She probably eats chicken (full of hormones). If you become too obsessed with it, firstly the stress will cause you significant harm. This lady comes from a very privileged background and has surrounded herself with all the American hippy, self help gurus.. It's all the same. It's the usual typical American, self help toxic BS flooding the shores again. The Americans are a country in deep decay. They give out more prescriptions for anti-depressents than any other country in the world. California where all this BS comes from had a very high death rate from Covid so you can argue with all their good , clean living why did their immune systems not protect them?. It's just another same old American self help garbage. I like to look at the "negative reviews" of books on Amazon and I always find it gives me a good indication of what the book is about and contains. I did the same thing with this book and wasn't surprised at all in my findings and my own personal conclusion. If anything I prefer to look at the diet habits of the Japanese, not America. Peace.
