This one came in clear for me. And It's scary and saddening in a way.. because what I desire is so big, so crazy that at this angle seems impossible. so impossible that I stop myself mid daydream. However this video dares me to dream and play with my desires and wildest imaginations guilt free. Suffering indeed because of beliefs that denied my desires. You already say it so many different ways, but holding ourselves back from our desires truly causes pain or numbness. Thank you for providing a nudge in the direction of believing or at least desiring the impossible!

Thank you Joseph this lesson is so.perfect for me now .The separation between desire and it's fulfillment in my situation is or was so based on my concept of my problem being bigger than the power of my desire which of course kept my deposits at lenght.I now Am one and fulfilled with my desire.
Some desires are best avoided though, or it can be best to have other priorities than what seems like our strongest desire in that moment.. like it's often not good for a persons future if they act on their immediate desire for violent revenge,..or the obese persons desire for more biscuits and fries and burgers etc would be best not acted on.. If we value our freedom, or our health.. but all these things are variables really, sometimes we must act in ways that involve risk, to stop bullies for example.. Hi Joseph. I really appreciate your and your channel's existence. I would love to hear about holy guardian angels as they aren't part of my current philosophy about life.
The negation of desire is enforced on spiritual paths such as Buddhism because desire is said to lead to suffering and madness. I lost all passion for life and entered a depressive dissociated state because of this thinking. So it’s refreshing to learn to honour desire. I’m starting to feel excited about living again.
@@moonbasemonk I was in an eastern religion and it’s very much enforced.. had to feel guilty about even enjoying food or even enjoying the religious practices. this honouring desire is new to me

In your comment here you are misunderstanding detachment. Your karma will not allow you to simply say "desire is bad" and then go instantly into a state of Samādhi. Just the notion of negating your desires is an ego based notion. Basically you went from attaching to old desires to attaching to a new desire of having no desire. That is like saying I wish I didn't have to wish! I think of desire like a flame. I can fuel the flame and it will intensify, or i can observe the flame while it burns down. If you are understanding why i have said these things, I would recommend the "two monks and a woman" story. It's cute, simple, and gives good perspective on this subject.

negation is not enforced. it’s the attachment to desires, and aversion of desires (which is what you did) that leads to suffering.
