there's also the fact that those regions might get a little extra love and polish by being part of the main game also, having them be part of the main game instead of mods will help to clear up a bunch of really long modlists, make guides for those areas easier to come across, and mean that other mods will now take those regions into account due to them being part of the game itself. the way I see it, Downpour focused on the Slugcats and the passage of time, while The Watcher seems to be focusing on the world and environment
6 months is time devs are using to make sure the console version works as well as the PC version. Y'all aren't ignored, just being optimized for. Have faith.
@@mickeymute334 actually you're right. Didn't it take like a month for downpour to release? Considering this is only one campaign it might take around half of that. Although this update seems to create a whole new world with multiple regions from mods so there's also that.
My working theory is that this is taking place in and surrounding SoS just after her collapse. I think she took herself and the surrounding regions down to the void sea, which is causing the temporal and spatial disjointedness we see in the regions. Other iterators, specifically SoS have only ever been glimpsed, and the “warped” world they talk about in conjunction with the echo flakes and void sea theming makes it seem as though the world this scug inhabits is being ravaged by the void sea. The choice between staying in the world and “diving into the unknown” is very reminiscent of echoes too
I always thought it was odd how in a game where much of Saint's campaign is left intentionally vague and up for interpretation, the dev team *explicitly* came out and stated that Challenge 70 wasn't canon. The only reason for such an odd move would be if they were planning on using SoS in some future update. SoS is real.
I like this theory, it'd be a pretty cool setting, but why is there so much Rot featured in the trailer? As far as anyone knows, Rot is exclusively a phenomenon created by FP and it's isolated to his region.
@@thorjelly Id disagree based on the iterator communications you can find in spearmaster’s campaign, where members of the local group are talking about Pebbles’ rot as if it is a known issue among iterators. It also would make sense, given the ancients’ history of extensive genetic modification that they are aware of common results of it being pushed to its limits. Also hunter comes from NSH, but is clearly infected with the rot, which may be the most damning evidence
I have a theory of how could the character would be: Everything I seen about The watcher in the trailer, its that he is completely unnoticed of everyone else, hiding on the shadows. I think the campaing would be really focus on stealth, and ignoring confrotation with predators, and I hope that those new creatures compensate to that mechanic.
Alternatively, if this goes along with what Videocult has mentioned in the past. They could function as a scout/spy of some sorts for the Scavengers. Having stealth would go along with this, they could be incredibly stealthy (makes very little noise) and a full-on predator.
This could be the reason for their new name. "the watcher" might imply that they lean towards staying out of conflict and watching rather then acting most of the time. So far all of the scugs in base game and downpour have names that summarize their gimmick in a straightforward way (survivor is all about learning to survive in a strange world, hunter has to hunt stuff, spearmaster is literally a master of spears, etc).
I think I remember there being something mentioned once about Nightcat's planned campaign being about seeking out some kind of enlightened Scavenger in the Garbage Wastes what if people are wrong and their campaign isn't around Rivulet's time at all (most theories I've seen place Watcher either between Monk and Rivulet or between Rivulet and Saint), what if their campaign is around Spearmaster's and Artificer's time? I see 2 major options for when Watcher's campaign would be 1: before Spearmaster's, immediately after Five Pebbles dumped as much Rot as he could in the Garbage Wastes. in this scenario the Rot in Five Pebbles would actually be at its lowest point in the timeline but the Garbage Wastes would be completely overrun. you'd probably be helping the Scavengers leave the now very dangerous wastes to get to the Metropolis whilst setting up the Scavenger King that would later be fought in Artificer's campaign. 2: after Artificer's, shortly after she's killed the Scavenger King and massacred tons of Scavengers. basically the reverse of the previous option, helping the surviving Scavengers leave the Metropolis and guiding them to a new home in the Garbage Wastes just as the Rot there starts to subside
I think that the watcher will have camo abilities like a white lizard, you see in the very beginning that it's invisible against the block. it even avoided a blue lizard and a scavenger.
Literally the best analysis because it shows how many custom regions are shown the images, I already knew half of them but I found plenty more from this video.
I love that the DLCs are community made in some instances, that says a lot from videocult, because the money will go to those people too, so, it is a way to keep the community active and incentivize the creators to keep creating and expanding this world.
5:42 if you were to take a shot for every minute post watcher release until a "The Watcher Stormy Coast Music Replacer" mod appears, you probably wouldn't even be intoxicated lmao 8:32 they're probably doing this to avoid people overhyping it all, it _is_ kinda boring that all we have for now is just "oh yeah these are official but a tiny bit different now" but i'd rather it be very little info with the known being rather meh until launch than the average minecraft live that shows off every "interesting" enough feature that people might like without much additional unmentioned tidbits
I think we’re going to see what’s beyond ascension. If you read the description, it’s _reeks_ of void stuff. I once saw a theory (it was on tumblr) where each ascended creature would become a void worm and create their own world based on their memories. I wonder if we see each of the previous scugs’ worlds? That would be epic. (Like coral cove for rivulet, for example)
the idea I got from the description sounded to me more like they were going to take the basic concept of the Rubicon and Void stuff and use it to make the Watcher's campaign basically be a rougelike experience, an evershifting landscape that's different each time you play
I actually love that they are adding existing mods to the actual game. Since Rainworld's player base is really based around mods, so adding player made content to the actual game and adding talented moders to they're team makes me believe that they are trying to further bond with they're community, which I see as a plus.
honestly I thought you'd be excited that they are adding regions from talented creators and putting them in the DLC I like it because they're supporting the community. maybe they'll even take some people that have made popular mods for the Steam Workshop and get help from them too. I mean imagine the creator of bee cat gets to help with the Watcher. although technically downpour is a glorified mod that was being made by several people before video cult picked it up. I think it's really cool that video cult supported mod Developers and even let them make a DLC for their game.
Wish Videocult did review all the dialogs from Downpoor' Spearmaster campaign, and they wont let something similar happen to the new content. I'm speaking about iterators dialogs where they are too human and emotional rather than robotic creatures. Except that, I appreciate Downpoor and the work that has been done.
@@JohnDoe-mr6mqCan you elaborate on why you think the dialogue in spearmaster is too emotional? I think it fits really well and I saw no issue when I play through it. If the iterators were unfeeling and more robotic, the dialogue would be boring and wouldn't hit the same for storywise.
@@bat6594 well, after re-reading all the broadcast once again I have to admit that it was fine. Some parts made me uneasy, though, like `Furious - Gray ` broadcast where the dialogue is a bit too dramatic, at least for me. Looking at the tone with which LTTM talks to scug, new iterators are quite near her in a sense of being more human than robot, though. Overall, it was good. Just wish that some review from original creators took its place first, if it didn't
The Watcher having the echo-like striped behind it does not necessarily mean it will have superpowers, however, it does indicate that it has a connection with that part of the world. This can hint that just like Artificer and Saint, The Watcher simply has a deep obsession and therefore will probably not ascend Seeing how the climate isn't cold and there is a high presence of Rot implied, we can assume The Watcher takes place between Monk/Survivor and Rivulet. When the Rot starts spreading very rapidly and the collapse of The Exterior begins
my biggest question is which sin will prevent them from ascending... Also I'm interested in when this campaign happens, but we potentially see the nightcat (aka the watcher as we all know) in the Gourmand food quest completion ending. Considering Monk and Survivor are also in that ending, and they happen to happen before rivulet, if that really was the nightcat then your theory is most likely true
Controversial opinion, I don’t want this scug to have any new abilities that the original vanilla ones didn’t have… if it sticks to that formula, this new region and subsequent story could be just as magical as a first hunter playthrough was for me. Downpour slucgats were too game-y to feel grounded in the story imo, so I’m excited at the idea of going back to an underpowered bottom-of-the-food-chain catslug in an unfamiliar, harsh world.
honestly? i agree. with maybe the exception of the maul (which feels like a very vanilla ability), a good old fashioned vanilla-style campaign would be a massive breath of fresh air.
agreed to a certain degree, i don't think the slugcat should have crazy abilities, but stuff like increased stealth stat like monk has would be awesome
More controversial opinion, I don't want this scug to try to be Survivor 2, because I'll be real: you can't play Rain World for the first time twice. There's no way this game is going to be able to send me back the bottom of the food chain with how much I've played and learned it, and I think that goes for most other people as well at this point. Playing as Survivor to explore Downpour's new rooms for the first time, I absolutely did not feel like I was the squishy little scug I played as starting the game, because when you know the movement inside out nothing can catch you, and enough experience with creatures means killing / crippling 90% of them is simply easy, and the other 10% happen to be avoidable. Unless the Watcher is entirely new game, it is not going to be able to recapture the experience of playing Rain World for the first time because we've already all had that experience. And even if it was an entirely new game, Rain World has taught people enough about exploration games that I think even that would fail to give you the same experience. I think the Watcher ought to try to be it's own thing, like the Downpour scugs, because if it tries to be Survivor 2 it is doomed to fail. Go play Survivor room rando if you want to see for yourself. So, yeah.
I disagree. While slugcats with abilities are more powerful, their campaigns were certainly not easier. It all depends on the world state, and survivor had a much easier one.
I doubt that this DLC takes place in the SoS region, as other people in the comments say. There are a few reasons for that. Firstly and obviously - the Rot. It should be specific to 5P, as it's a sign of *failure* to reprogram iterator cells. If SoS ever tried it, she definetly did it successfully. And if it's Pebbles, then we can definetly say that all of this takes place in our original region, though greatly expansed. And this, combined with the whole new regions set, leads me to the conculsion that we'll see other iterators of the local group - either SRS or NSH. It's hard to say which one would it be, but I bet on SRS. Why? Well, NSH was the one to send Hunter, and that means that he was alright at least not so long ago. SRS, on the other hand, wasn't heard of since the Spearmaster campaign - basically, the beginning of the main story line. Some sh*t has definetly happened to him, which is a good plot hook. But ya know what's even more possible? *BOTH NSH AND SRS.* If SRS is down, NSH definetly will get involved that way or another. He's not the guy to leave a friend in need. And a huge amount of regions only supports this idea - original game is set in the area with 2 iterators. Getting many regions with only one seems... Unprobable. So whole 2 gigachads are coming to the game.
I know it's 7 month old comment but I think there was a mention of five pebbles wasn't being the first one to get infected with rot? altho it might have been in MSC
It's true that mods are being re-used, but just look at TBOI : Repentance : you can still have a mod-based DLC that brings new things to the table, I just hope The Watcher will be on the same level of quality as Repentance. And beside, don't forget about the console players for whom it will be nice to have new content that would otherwise be inaccessible. Plus, the modders will get paid for their work for once, which is undeniably a good thing.
Ive seen people upset over the modded regions being included and stuff, but i don't get the problem exactly. Downpour ported modded content into the game aswell, but not just by throwing it in there and putting a price tag, they actually expanded the content and let the team make some pretty incredible stuff. Clearly, we know there will be original regions on top of expanded and redone modded regions made by VERY talented people. To me, this seems more like a downpour situation where they are gonna let the modders include their own modded regions while also having tons of new content and updates to old content. I have a ton of faith it'll be done well! EDIT: Thought about it more. The removal of everything from the mods except the region itself definitely implies this approach. It REALLY seems to me like they are letting the modders bring in some old work and adapt it for filler and such.
Downpour was less of a problem because nobody had played those regions before. This is a bit weird because many of us already have played the regions, so seeing them in a different context may feel immersion-breaking and repetitive.
I don’t think it’ll be a problem since they’re only filler regions, and most people who played rainworld and downpour probably didn’t play every region mod
@bro748 Wait, how does downpour not have the issue of repetition? I mean, first off, most RW players, on average, do not use mods, but that aside, even the ones who do don't really have to worry about this, I feel. It's not like the regions will be lifted from the workshop and just hastily given a new context, obviously they will be updated, refurbished, and made to fit, just like the modded content in downpour. Obviously, we've played these regions before, but also once again, that was an issue with downpour which DIDNT include modded regions, because the whole thing ejth downpour was going back through old regions. To me, playing through a new version of an old region and new abilitis repetitive, sure, but also just exactly what downpour was. This kinda presents two options: either its just a downpour situation where you go through old regions with new changes, OR the whole thing feels pretty fresh. I find neither of these to be new potential issues/things to tackle, or really problems at all.
3:00 The Watcher doesn't leap at the camera, the camera zooms in. You can tell if you go frame-by-frame. The Watcher might still have a leap ability, but that doesn't seem to be the way it was actually animated.
After drawing the entire Rain World map in Paint, and looking for space where a biome could even be, the possible places are: 1) Above Chimney Canopy 2) Above Sky Islands 3) Connecting number 1 with upper Exterior / Metropolis Or by far the most likely 4) On the right side of Looks to the Moon There just straight up isn't any space elsewhere
I do hope the ones they showcase are just disconnected from the world. Adding an entirely new set of region to the main map is hard not to make them feel custom-ish. In the case of More Slugcat, they seamlessly integrate one or two new regions into each campaign, and they all find a compelling place within the game's canon. I wonder if they're gonna nail it this time. The concept of More Slugcat was just way too good.
about the spear on the scav's back, this was the first thing i noticed so i thought about it a lot, i think it's either barbed so taking it out hurts them too, or it could have a bit of rot on the end, but i don't see much use for that on a short term scale. also only watcher in the title is rotted, so he may be able to carry a spear on their back too, which from expedition mode, i've found that i don't do well without, so that might be helpful. also also i think if it's an iterator's place, it's probably SoS, which not only would be a good thing to tell people when it's decided to make people start speculating, but i think if so, there's going to be a really underwhelming explanation, like she just got tired of nothing ever happening and said all that to start some 3 century long drama.
I wouldn't mind if it had more texture it's way too smooth to be honest. I understand the tops of dunes can be smooth but I think they overdid it, hopefully will be changed upon release.
Wow, finally a good summary of Watcher! Fetid Glen is likely since it's supposed to connect to Badlands and Aether Ridge. Lumen Station is also likely the rot focus, based on the direction Station Annex is going. Also the green Wrayk region is totally ripping off OD from NNH smh, and I will be pressing charges.
I think the watcher (nightcat) is actually an organic living being just maybe filled with void fluid or something like that? That’s why it can be invisible or dash, because void fluid releases a lot of energy and that energy is used into a dash
It may just be wishful thinking, but what I'm thinking about the main additions of the Watcher's DLC is that the new locations and content will act similar to Outer Expanse in the gourmands campaign, unlocking to the base game Scugs after the campaign is completed. Now this is just an idea, but the thought of the new regions also containing differences through time if the downpour DLC is installed is an idea i would love to see.
Actually I'm so glad they will include those regions from the workshop; for me there is a huge difference between an official content, and an 'outsider creation'. it's like something super cool being recognised as canon; otherwise is just an unofficial version that can't be considered as the actual world of that game
Including like 5 or 6 modded regions in a dlc is really weird tbh, my hope is that there is some sort of free part of the whole ordeal, like Remix was to Downpour - which would include the modded regions for free or somthing. Then again that wouldnt make sense as theyre a part of watcher campaign. For a scope and theme of this dlc, im honestly thinking that since theres many modded regions, and apparently thats just a small part of the dlc, the watcher is taking place in a completely new world separate from the vanilla world (god i hope). As more proof lets see the description, it mentions that what we'll be exploring im the Watcher we only ever caught a glimpse of. I think the glimpse its talking about are the overseer projections, since i cant really put it anywhere else, unless its the slugcat tree but downpour already did that unfortunately, or its the void/existance beyond the void, since we omly ever got a glimpse into it. All of these take place far away from the main land. Honestly after a sitting a bit with this knowledge I dont really have much issues with this. If I am right (i bet i am) with it being a new whole region of the world, then the modded regions would be able to make sense thematically and well make sense why theyre in the world, if they fit them right; kinda like how rain world's world flows together really nicely. Anyway shoutouts for covering this so quickly, hope theres some more drama to discuss soon!!! edit: Ultimately what it boils down to is whether the devs have a strong creative vision for the actual world of The Watcher dlc that includes the modded regions in its core principles. If they dont, I fear it might just be a move to try to be hip and cool and make the mods into a reality for no apparent reason than to make the mods official to seem like theyre the "cool devs".
in terms of making the mods part of the actual game it's important to consider that that's basically how Downpour started out, it's probably how all expansions to Rainworld will end up being made, mods that get picked up and officially implemented as for the DLC itself, honestly based on the description we got I'm kind of expecting the Watcher's own campaign to be a roguelike type of thing, that was just what popped into my head when I first read the description so the DLC would include all those modded areas for the other slugcats whilst the Watcher itself would have its own entirely seperate thing which would be the main focus of the DLC
@@Eclipsed_Embers I dont see how your first point really changes anything. As for the rest, making a roguelike mode would probably be really difficult seeing how rw is made, and i honestly hope its not that lol. The idea that modded areas would be available for others is kinda ass too, since those regions make zero sense in the whole world of rain world we play in in vanilla; they dont flow nicely with anything vanilla and stick out like a sore thumb
Maybe someone already said this, but I just wanted to add that the green wrayk region was inspired by a region from New Horizons (not Old New Horizons, but also made by FishSwallower) called Old Drainage System.
If this goes along with what Videocult has mentioned in the past. They could function as a scout/spy of some sorts for the Scavengers. Having stealth would go along with this, they could be incredibly stealthy (makes very little noise) and a full-on predator. It would be cool if the Watcher was entirely carnivorous, in direct contrast from Saint and his timeline as well.
As a switch player I’m happy for modded regions anyway because I can’t experience otherwise, but I think my main concern is just whether or not they’ll feel right integrated into the game officially. Most of the downpour regions existed in a way that you could at least presume their existence from the base game. The slugcats have to come from somewhere- outer expanse. Moon seems way smaller than pebbles in her explorable area- submerged superstructure is the rest. And you can literally see metropolis. Those, along with the variation regions like the rot or waterfront facility, fit into the world in a very natural way by answering questions players probably already had. So I hope that somehow these regions feel like they actually have a place and aren’t just tacked on. something a lot of people have suggested is taking place around a different iterator and I think that’s really the best way it would work, otherwise the facility grounds would feel bloated with content. Even then it could still feel like it doesn’t fit though. But I’m just going to wait and see what it actually is on release (console release :( ) because way too many people are getting super invested in these discussions and arguments while we barely know anything, which doesn’t make much sense to me, apart from speculation which is just fun of course
OKOK I think that the dlc is going to take place during/after the times of the ancients and The Watcher is in a big glass box for the entertainment of the ancients. This would explain how some entire regions look so unnatural.
7:30 I really, _really_ hope they replace the Latin letter/Arabic number with proper ancient gibberish. I can't at all see this slipping past, but it's still something I'll stay up at night over.
You should be able to cut off that deep hum and popping with some editing or even some filters if you're recording the audio with OBS, worth looking into if this happens again!
My theory is that the void's taken over a LOT of the world and distorted everything along with rot, so it's after saint and some places are cold and most aren't anymore. Also the places where the watcher is in some screenshots makes me feel like it can fly like saint
In the steam announcement for the watcher it says “The fourth slugcat of Rain World has not been forgotten, their time is coming” anyone know what this means?
Personally i dont see a problem with modded regions, theyre obviously making changes and there is gonna be new regions aswell. Also the regions arent the main focus of the dlc, its not like theyre just selling aether ridge or badlands
I was working in a personal mod that would have a scaredy stealthy slugcat, but got lazy and lost in the middle of development, i want to go back to it though
Regarding free mods added to a paid DLC: people playing on Switch and other consoles wouldn't have access to the mods unless they were added as a DLC. While PC is the best way to play, it's not accessible to everyone.
I might be wrong about this, but I’m pretty sure I’m correct. It also might just be an expedition only thing but when I was playing Saint I could’ve swore that I saw a pole plant in undergrowth
I do hope the regions they showcase are just disconnected from the world. Adding an entirely new set of region to the main map is hard not to make them feel custom-ish. I wonder if they're gonna nail it this time. The concept of More Slugcats was just way too good.
I feel like the watcher would take place after rivulet but before whatever comes after riv because I want to believe that the dlc will be after the rot hit critical mass then the ecosystem is trying to repair itself, no reasoning I just think it would be cool. Oh also the watcher probably doesn't have the ability to go invisible, I think it would be something like the white lizard camo instead of ghostcat
wait one minute so umm lore spoilers here but like the echos are things that have touched the void water and like turned into that so maybe the watcher is a slug cat echo

Everything I seen about The watcher in the trailer, its that he is completely unnoticed of everyone else, hiding on the shadows. I think the campaing would be really focus on stealth, and ignoring confrotation with predators, and I hope that those new creatures compensate to that mechanic.
My bloodlust could never
Alternatively, if this goes along with what Videocult has mentioned in the past.
WE MAKING IT OUT OF ARENA MODE WITH THIS ONE‼️‼️🗣️🗣️💯💯🔥🔥🔥🔥
True
This is ridiculously relatable lol I have been doing expedition and arena mode since I finished downpour waiting for new content
I think I remember there being something mentioned once about Nightcat's planned campaign being about seeking out some kind of enlightened Scavenger in the Garbage Wastes
what if people are wrong and their campaign isn't around Rivulet's time at all (most theories I've seen place Watcher either between Monk and Rivulet or between Rivulet and Saint), what if their campaign is around Spearmaster's and Artificer's time?
I see 2 major options for when Watcher's campaign would be
1: before Spearmaster's, immediately after Five Pebbles dumped as much Rot as he could in the Garbage Wastes. in this scenario the Rot in Five Pebbles would actually be at its lowest point in the timeline but the Garbage Wastes would be completely overrun. you'd probably be helping the Scavengers leave the now very dangerous wastes to get to the Metropolis whilst setting up the Scavenger King that would later be fought in Artificer's campaign.
The entire Rain World Community is abuzz with this new update, I hope we aren't overhyping it...
i honestly dont care if people are overhyping this, me just want new content!
Worst case, it's a new campaign.

Aether Ridge:
hasn't been ported yet
Hoping it gets ported soon the regions peak
It’ll be a while before we see aether ridge, he has massive plans for it. It’s not really a port
Literally the best analysis because it shows how many custom regions are shown the images, I already knew half of them but I found plenty more from this video.
He is our Mossbag but for Rainworld
nah daszombes takes that role for me
all three make completely different content? If you mean a well known voice over guy for the rain world community then…. Idk make your own opinion
cant waiit for that one guy making a mod that brings back the original stormy coast threat theme
I love that the DLCs are community made in some instances, that says a lot from videocult, because the money will go to those people too, so, it is a way to keep the community active and incentivize the creators to keep creating and expanding this world.
5:42 if you were to take a shot for every minute post watcher release until a "The Watcher Stormy Coast Music Replacer" mod appears, you probably wouldn't even be intoxicated lmao
8:32 they're probably doing this to avoid people overhyping it all, it _is_ kinda boring that all we have for now is just "oh yeah these are official but a tiny bit different now" but i'd rather it be very little info with the known being rather meh until launch than the average minecraft live that shows off every "interesting" enough feature that people might like without much additional unmentioned tidbits
I believe it's just the camera zooming in, not the watcher jumping at the camera, in that animated video.
true, if you go frame by frame you can see the Watcher isn't actually moving
I think we’re going to see what’s beyond ascension. If you read the description, it’s _reeks_ of void stuff. I once saw a theory (it was on tumblr) where each ascended creature would become a void worm and create their own world based on their memories. I wonder if we see each of the previous scugs’ worlds? That would be epic. (Like coral cove for rivulet, for example)
I hope we get to know what happens to the cat after ascension.
the idea I got from the description sounded to me more like they were going to take the basic concept of the Rubicon and Void stuff and use it to make the Watcher's campaign basically be a rougelike experience, an evershifting landscape that's different each time you play

I actually love that they are adding existing mods to the actual game. Since Rainworld's player base is really based around mods, so adding player made content to the actual game and adding talented moders to they're team makes me believe that they are trying to further bond with they're community, which I see as a plus.
ngl you said like 100x more than daszombies because you've actually played and had experience with modded regions
Lmao. I noticed that
They both introduced their separate takes, and I'd say both videos are equally informative.
I hope they make the downpour scugs are cannon to the watcher but the watcher just takes place in a different place on the planet
honestly I thought you'd be excited that they are adding regions from talented creators and putting them in the DLC I like it because they're supporting the community. maybe they'll even take some people that have made popular mods for the Steam Workshop and get help from them too.
This can hint that just like Artificer and Saint, The Watcher simply has a deep obsession and therefore will probably not ascend
Seeing how the climate isn't cold and there is a high presence of Rot implied, we can assume The Watcher takes place between Monk/Survivor and Rivulet.
Downpour slucgats were too game-y to feel grounded in the story imo, so I’m excited at the idea of going back to an underpowered bottom-of-the-food-chain catslug in an unfamiliar, harsh world.
honestly? i agree. with maybe the exception of the maul (which feels like a very vanilla ability), a good old fashioned vanilla-style campaign would be a massive breath of fresh air.
agreed!
agreed to a certain degree, i don't think the slugcat should have crazy abilities, but stuff like increased stealth stat like monk has would be awesome

I find neither of these to be new potential issues/things to tackle, or really problems at all.
also, money for the mod devs, like, thats pretty good
3:00 The Watcher doesn't leap at the camera, the camera zooms in. You can tell if you go frame-by-frame.
The Watcher might still have a leap ability, but that doesn't seem to be the way it was actually animated.
Say what you want to say about the canonizations of old regions but this is only a dub for console players
After drawing the entire Rain World map in Paint, and looking for space where a biome could even be, the possible places are:
1) Above Chimney Canopy
2) Above Sky Islands
3) Connecting number 1 with upper Exterior / Metropolis
Or by far the most likely
4) On the right side of Looks to the Moon
There just straight up isn't any space elsewhere
I think the sand looks amazing
the inside just has to be a little darker and less "glow", it looks like its glowing
changing that would make it perfect (I already find it beautiful)
I wouldn't mind if it had more texture it's way too smooth to be honest. I understand the tops of dunes can be smooth but I think they overdid it, hopefully will be changed upon release.
Compare it to the rain. The rain is so damn amazing. This definitely needs further iterations.
thank you for getting information from the discord! its very easy for stuff to get drowned out in servers when they aren't said anywhere else
Wow, finally a good summary of Watcher! Fetid Glen is likely since it's supposed to connect to Badlands and Aether Ridge. Lumen Station is also likely the rot focus, based on the direction Station Annex is going.
Also the green Wrayk region is totally ripping off OD from NNH smh, and I will be pressing charges.
im working on a sprite mod for my new nightcat/watcher design because i cant get over how cool this is
I think the watcher (nightcat) is actually an organic living being just maybe filled with void fluid or something like that? That’s why it can be invisible or dash, because void fluid releases a lot of energy and that energy is used into a dash
it’s watching time🤑🤑
I love when the watcher said it’s watching time and watched everywhere
If they dont, I fear it might just be a move to try to be hip and cool and make the mods into a reality for no apparent reason than to make the mods official to seem like theyre the "cool devs".
in terms of making the mods part of the actual game it's important to consider that that's basically how Downpour started out, it's probably how all expansions to Rainworld will end up being made, mods that get picked up and officially implemented
as for the DLC itself, honestly based on the description we got I'm kind of expecting the Watcher's own campaign to be a roguelike type of thing, that was just what popped into my head when I first read the description
so the DLC would include all those modded areas for the other slugcats whilst the Watcher itself would have its own entirely seperate thing which would be the main focus of the DLC
@@Eclipsed_Embers I dont see how your first point really changes anything.
As for the rest, making a roguelike mode would probably be really difficult seeing how rw is made, and i honestly hope its not that lol. The idea that modded areas would be available for others is kinda ass too, since those regions make zero sense in the whole world of rain world we play in in vanilla; they dont flow nicely with anything vanilla and stick out like a sore thumb
i had a random idea that the train/tram on Fp's can was rebuilt, or maybe this takes place really early, straight after SoS unaliving herself
killing herself idk why i said unaliving
Maybe someone already said this, but I just wanted to add that the green wrayk region was inspired by a region from New Horizons (not Old New Horizons, but also made by FishSwallower) called Old Drainage System.
the water looks like that because its actually choccy milk
I really really love rainworld and im happy that developers didnt forget about the game and even going to add a new content.
I think Watcher is going to take place in a separate timeline than downpour
You can still find pole plants in saints timeline- sorry if this sounds rude but I really like rain world :D
Pole mimics are present in under growth for saint
The watcher could have camouflage ability like some of the other rain world creatures.
OKOK I think that the dlc is going to take place during/after the times of the ancients and The Watcher is in a big glass box for the entertainment of the ancients. This would explain how some entire regions look so unnatural.
Saint still has Pole Mimics, such as in the place where Rivulet's Campaign starts
