Thanks for the video Alan, my FX-4CR has not shipped yet, I assume they will install the new board before it ships but it seems pretty easy to swap out.
Hi there. I am trying to find something like this that can go to 490 and 518khz in CW to use for Navtex. Is there something you can suggest? Thank you!
Could someone explain what the use of this device is? I realize it's a radio but what other details might be available? RF is not an area that I have a lot of experience with.
This is a compact/portable transceiver (transmitter+receiver) designed for use with Amateur Radio, commonly known has Ham Radio. It supports the most common HF radio bands and modes used by licensed ham radio enthusiasts.
Earlier versions of firmware had some issues with CW timing and sidetone generation, but very recent changes to firmware seem to address these quite well.
FX-4CR is nice little radio, I love mine. I also have the FX-4C it’s nice as well!!!
Quality work, Alan. I got the impression that the trx seems to be a quality product. Boards look nicely designed. Thanks for sharing
Interesting. First time I have seen inside one of these. It looks really well engineered
I learn so many things from you, u r an epitome of engineering.. Thank you
wow professional work. great job 73 from kb2uew
Great Video... That was a lot of work to film and cut. 👏
I would love to see a video on SDR. I find passive radar using 2 or more SDR dongles, very interesting.
You did a video on SDR 8 years ago.
Cool nice radio 😊. Thanks for sharing!
wonderful toy!
Nice job.

I'll echo another commenter that the construction appears top-notch...thanks for sharing! 73 - Dino KLØS

Yes, all current/new shipments will have the new hardware. It was just the first 40 or 50 that were shipped a few months ago that were affected.
awesome video with the steps. Thank you
Very well done.
tape the new ribbon cables into the inside of the case so you never lose them..
When did you buy yours? Any idea after what date of purchase, the radio will be shipped with a newer board?
Likely anything shipped after September will include the new board. The maker sent the updated board to ALL purchasers of the early radios.

Thanks for the video!!
Do you have some reported problems like Issue 1: Audio artifacts while calling CQ
Issue 2: Loss of sidetone while transmitting …?
Yu sent me new firmware this evening that addresses the loss of sidetone.
When did you get yours? I haven't received mine yet and was in the early group.
Several weeks ago
In Praxis, what are the difference between this and the older PCB?
Fewer spurious emissions

@@w2aew neat. Thanks! Great channel by the way. I have learned a lot from you even though I don't really work in the RF realm
@@FreejackVesa Thank you - there's a lot more here than just RF ;-)
How about CW mode operation please?
Earlier versions of firmware had some issues with CW timing and sidetone generation, but very recent changes to firmware seem to address these quite well.
