As someone who has been in a relationship for 10 years in which we have a child together but don't plan on ever getting married, I appreciate your comment! My partner and I are both 41 and have never in our lives ever cared about marriage or wanted to get married. We're both atheists so the religious aspect of marriage doesn't apply too us and we don't feel like we need a piece of paper from the government to prove what we already know. Ever since I was a little girl I have always hated weddings and found them just nauseating. I don't know why anyone would ever want to waste as much money as couples do just for a dress, flowers, etc that will only be used once for a few hours. I've never been a girly girl but I also wouldn't call myself a tomboy either but I don't wear dresses, skirts, heels or makeup and haven't since I was a teen. So the dressing up aspect of weddings definitely is not appealing to me. My partner and I live our life the same exact way as a married couple would though. We have an amazing relationship where we respect each other, have great communication, are each other's best friend, we support each other in all that we do, etc. We have never cheated on each other and never would. We don't go out with other people or go to bars and clubs with or with out each other. All our free time is always spent together as a family which is something we both want and choose to do. If one of us did want to go hang out with a friend though, it would be completely fine. It's just that we both have social anxiety with mine being more severe (I also have agoraphobia and other mental health problems) so we don't really have friends or really want them. It's so hard to maintain a friendship with someone when you struggle to even leave your home or go in public especially when that person has no idea what its like to deal with social anxiety or other mental health issues. We definitely have noticed that not hanging out with other people eliminates so much drama from our lives. In the 10 years we've been together we have only ever had one fight where our voices were raised over a misunderstanding. It lasted 15 minutes and then we were good. We never yell at each other, never have called each other rude names or said hurtful things to each other. We both previously were in long term relationships where our exes were emotionally abusive so we both knew exactly how we did and didn't want to be treated when we got together. Do we bicker at times, of course but when you spend so much time with someone that's bound to happen. My partner is also the most amazing father to our son. Watching the two of them together makes me fall in love with him over and over. We are just so lucky too have him in our lives. When people hear we aren't married or I mention that we don't care about marriage, they automatically assume something is wrong. I constantly hear that I'm just lying to myself that I'm okay with not being married or that he manipulated me into not wanting to get married which is crazy. The very first day my partner and I met, I told him that I had no desire to get married and that it just wasn't something I wanted or cared about but that I do want to find someone to spend my life with. I don't know why people think that every woman's end goal is marriage. I just wish people would stop making such a big deal over marriage and stop putting down couples that choose not to go that route. I mean my partner and I have a healthier relationship than literally any of the married couples that I personally know so what we're doing clearly works for us. It's super refreshing to see someone like you say that you support relationships like mine. I wish more people were like you! As long as a couple has a happy, healthy and safe relationship, then who cares how they choose to do it.
As for their relationship, it's clear that she wants to be married but if he proposes or gets married before he's ready, that could spell disaster for them. She needs to try to be patient with him. It's very clear that he loves her and their family very much. When he's ready, if marriage is what he wants, then he'll ask her. If marriage isn't something that he wants then he needs to just be honest with her. They're both still so young though and have plenty of time to get married so they shouldn't rush things.

@@Xessa82 I would only say this one thing, my partner and I lived together, he passed away in 2019 and it broke my heart that his death certificate says single ( the only choices were married, single, widowed or divorced), it was one thing that never occurred to me and I sincerely hope something changes those choices soon, the registrar was amazing while I was a mess but even still it hurts to be typing it.

It also can take up to 2 years to plan a wedding as things like venues often need to be booked that far in advance, for all we know they’ve already planned it but have announced an engagement publicly. I've been with my partner 13 years, we've got 2 kids, he works away, I work 2 days a week and I run our household perfectly without a ring on my finger. We are all happy, we are all healthy. It will look after this couple and ensure that if anything happens to either of them, the money will go to the spouse and not back to the state. @@Xessa82 I would only say this one thing, my partner and I lived together, he passed away in 2019 and it broke my heart that his death certificate says single ( the only choices were married, single, widowed or divorced), it was one thing that never occurred to me and I sincerely hope something changes those choices soon, the registrar was amazing while I was a mess but even still it hurts to be typing it.
you don’t have to be rich to be married. it is a promise to give it all you’ve got in any circumstance. if it is important to her but not to you, it is unfair for her to wait until you are. clearly she loves the family you have created and she loves you. at this rate i don’t think she cares much for a grandiose proposal or wedding. she wants reassurance.

People need to stop making this such a serious thing when they don’t know the facts and they’re clearly a couple joking. We don’t know their timeline, they might be waiting for Koazy to be a little bit older or planning for a future sibling and not wanting to get married during that. It also can take up to 2 years to plan a wedding as things like venues often need to be booked that far in advance, for all we know they’ve already planned it but have announced an engagement publicly. They could literally already be married and we’d never know unless they told us, which I doubt is the case but my point is we do not know and it’s not our place to judge them.
