The best advice I can give you is to start out by focusing more on the things you character can do (that is to say your game plan), and then after a while you can you will notice that a certain character using the same thing over and over. When you come across a problem like that in my opinion that's when you should start to understand what other characters do(and how to stop them specifically). From one Mishima player to another good luck, the pain is worth it.

Nah, I chose my main by how big their yaboos are hence Yoshimitsu.

    Great video!
I'm happy you went with a character you feel is satisfying to play and not just one that nets you easy wins. It might be a bit more of a struggle, but you're gonna get so much more enjoyment and satisfaction out of it in the long run!

Im glad you find reina resonating with you strongly because she has good tools on a basic level and you can grow along side her as a player, because she has so much depth to dive deep into. Its a big deal in tekken's case because there are so many mechanics to learn, matchup knowledge and your own character mastery, so having a character to stick to makes thing easier. Its a plus if the character constantly offers growth with execution and is just overall fun, be it visual aesthetic or Gameplay elements. Now time to learn the actual game mechanics/fundamentals. Movement and punishes.

Good video. I’m still stuck in a character crisis unfortunately but I’m still having fun. Hope the ranked journey treats you well.

There are no character crises in Tekken. Every character you try and quit is just you getting a headstart on learning that character's counterplay.
Low level Tekken: Learning your character's strengths and weaknesses.
High level Tekken: Learning EVERY other character's strengths and weaknesses so you can beat them.

Learn your simple safe pokes, build on that with staple punishes; Standing AND Crouching 10f & 15f. Then learn to do the Korean backdash and when and how to use it, build on that with simple whiff punish, add to that with the staple juggle combo and wall ender; on those tools alone you will go so far. Side-stepping is also so important but it's one of those very difficult things to understand, learn and use properly

I've pretty summed up the answer the same way I also chosen Reina as a primary main in beginner phases. She looks and feels great to play win or lose. I'm looking to improve as I attempt to rank up when I feel ready to.

I picked up Reina because Heihachi was the character I enjoyed the most in past Tekken games. I got brutalised and do still get destroyed, but I really enjoy playing Reina and trying to learn with her.
I'm looking to get a new fight pad so I can really try to get her execution heavy moves down pat, but I am happy so far with the use of her stances. Need to look at other moves to focus on and add to my core with her.
She fits the kind of playstyle I just like really. She is demanding in terms of knowing how to play her but goddamn she is satisfying to play when you can put it together

Imo don't get a fight pad, go straight for a leverless controller or just play on keyboard.

Im still quite new to fighting games, I casually play MK but that was pretty much it until I started playing Tekken, and I dunno man but something about this game makes me wanna get better and better.

Side step, frame advantage, spacing, hit box awareness, learning match ups, utilize basic moves effectively before focusing on combos - I think these are the most important things for me to advance beyond lower ranks

    • @guymontag5084
      @guymontag5084 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

Frame trap people until you hit red. Do steps after -0 to -3 moves. Jab after slightly negative moves -0 to -3 and you'll beat everything except jab or df1 generally. Use lows or throws as your mixup depending which character it is. Confirm your on hit plus frames into mixups, i.e. most df1 and 1 are +6 to +8 so the move you do is different on hit than on block.
Other important thing is to just backdash out of pressure, do long range safe pokes.

You should fight the Ai in the ghost battle a bit to see what they ALWAYS punish or guess with mixups.

Great video . I'd recommend making you're goal higher then red rank cause most people that play Tekken are in red rank and so try to go above the rest . Good luck 👍

Good thing you didn't choose Kazuya. To be good with him you need to learn not only his execution by grinding hours and hours and still dont get 100% successrate. You also have to learn every character and its frame data, because he is fundamental based. He also has no 15 frame launcher, you HAVE to ewgf, which is not bufferable, because you have to be in windstep to do a ewgf.
He also has no plus frames spam BS like a lot of the cast, so you need to bait and sidestep a lot etc etc etc.
...good thing you did not choose Kazuya hahaha
