I used to and still do own this on DVD, When I was a child in the 00s this was my favorite documentary to watch because of this theme song and I'm also a massive Doctor Who fan so finding out that Ron Granger composed the theme was really nice to hear.
I think this programme and music were pretty popular at the time as I often used to see the EP (mono mostly) at record fairs years ago. Not always in nice condition - in fact, mainly battered. The DVD - containing Grainer's original music - is still available for a few bob! A must for steam train fanatics. BTW, did you know that composers (and actors) always used to be credited with their full names in the early 60s films and programmes? For instance, in the first few episodes of 'Maigret' Grainer is credited as 'Ronald Erle Grainer'. Grainer was a master and it's hard to find better Tv themes than Prisoner / Dr. Who / Man in a Suitcase.

Yes that's a lovely coincidence then. Ron Grainer has been responsible for many many cult tv themes over the years.
