This struck my soul. The piano treatment is a story in itself. I know a lot of words but none seem adequate to post my appreciation of your gentle, artistic honoring of the lost.
I found your site by accident. The music you have goes so well with the scene you are shooting. Must say you are very talented. You said each vacant building has a history. I never thought about it in that manner. You are so right.
Thank you so much for your kind words Karen Grossberg ! So glad the video resonated with you. Thanks for taking the time to watch and comment. I really appreciate it.
Grew up right near there and did walk around it once when I was bicycling by it from Almond to Angelica. Curious why say not Western NY or the Southern Tier is the description? Upstate for me is north of the city to edge of Catskills
This was another wonderful video; you truly an artist of the highest caliber; the music was hauntingly beautiful and i saved this video so i can watch it again later; my friends are now fans of yours.
Wow Beautifully crafted work of art...the time-lapse was really appropriate here and the use of the piano's felt hammer striking the rust/dust off the metal strings was an amazing moment...loved it!
Suzanne I really have no idea. The only thing I can think is that the owner of the building (after it was a poorhouse) was possibly using it to store (or horde) the papers. There were also pianos all over the building so I was thinking that maybe a piano repair shop owned it at one time and used it to store old pianos and parts. It's a mystery to me! :)
I'd like to share with you the latest addition to my "Art of Abandonment" series: The Allegany County Poorhouse in upstate NY. Unlike many of my other videos which are mostly made up of photos, this is almost entirely all video footage taken over the course of two days at the location. I have been wanting to use this song for a long time and when we discovered the poorhouse the lyrics fit in perfectly with everything we found there. I hope you enjoy it and please feel free to share it if you like it!! th-cam.com/video/9ds0nxArE78/w-d-xo.html Read about this history and see the images on my blog at: www.ArtofAbandonment.com

What is the theory regarding the newspaper hoard?
