Each betting house has a maximum amount of money that they can pay out. Any winnings beyond that will not be paid. If you're lucky, they will give you betting points (money which you can use to place bets, but not withdraw). In most cases, they simply refund the money you used to bet. This is clearly stated in their Terms and Conditions (which most people don't read), and the licenses cover this. Think about this rationally: imagine a betting company has operating capital of 50 million. A person places a bet and wins 100 million. What do you think the company will do? Get all their operating capital and then borrow 50 million from the bank to pay this single client? Does that sound realistic to you?
