Podman 101 and Beyond! - Pierre Blanc, Red Hat
Podman is a container manager; and as its name suggests, podman is also a pod manager, a base functionality of kubernetes. In fact, podman can be a precious ally in your migration journey to container orchestration. In the beginning it was focused on security with rootless and daemonless behaviors nevertheless year after year it has gained remarkable and unique features. Podman changed a lot the last few years, and it’s always interesting to have an update of new features. It is also an opportunity for newcomers to get introduced to podman, among the alternatives of container manager technologies. During this talk we will cover the container management features, but we’ll also demonstrate its proximity with kubernetes and its capacity to easily convert podman configurations to k8s manifests. This presentation highlights what we have learnt over the years using podman and other container technologies, it also covers experience feedback from our daytoday job.
