Just got the news today 8/9/24 that Kevin Sullivan passed away. He had been in the Hospital the last month or so. Such a huge loss. R.I.P. TASKMASTER KEVIN SULLIVAN ❤🙏
i'm 68 i live in st.louis mo. i saw every match dory funk and jack brisco had. as nwa champion.. and mo. champions.at the kiel and arena. i have on vhs dvd.. at least 90-100 matches..they were the best two i ever saw.. ..
Those two had some of the best pure seesaw battles ever . Whats strange is that both if them faded quite a bit after losing their Championship . The shift in wrestling left not much for them afterwards . Realism was giving way to dramatic subplots and “characters “ .
Thanks for your ad around the 48 minute mark JBL. You had me checking for open windows, different internet sessions, add on this screen for a couple of minutes.
This was a great episode. I really hope there will be a second part so we can hear Kevin’s thoughts behind his prime years in the ring. He had characters that could really get inside your head and could draw heat like few others!
Looking very much forward to this one! You guys have THE BEST show! I listen while loading trucks at UPS everytime a new show is out! Thank you both, and guests as well! 👍👍
Lmaoo when kevin vanished and then you guys just phased out of the frames in the video, i had the video minimised and i was like, wtf just happened, got a nice laugh out of that
Can’t wait for the Sullivan interview! Hope you guys ask him about his booking relationship with Dusty in Florida. I can’t recall the years but I believe they booked together in the early 80s, maybe late 70s, before the TBS Crockett era. Please correct me, I am unsure of the history. What would a car ride be with those two? That’s my question this week lol
Jack Brisco & Dory Funk Jr would sell out the Jacksonville Coliseum. There were fans sitting in the aisles blocking out the step-lights. Brisco & Funk would usually work a 2 out of 3 for about 59 minutes. Bobby Shane was a huge heel. I remember when the ring announced a moment of silence for Bobby Shane (death from plane crash) and the crowd applauded, unbelievable! Jerry Lawler uses the same attire and gimmicks as Bobby Shane. Kevin Sullivan was a tough apple and another huge heel. One of the best agents and bookers for WCW.
this was a lot better than the older Sullivan interviews. the old ones he's so dry an dark. here it was completely fresh and informative and fun. I love Wrestling ✌️✌️
Kevin proved to me how tough he was when he wrestled Bruiser Brody . Whenever Brody had that much size on his opponents they had to fight him to get anything in . He refused to let his aura suffer giving anything to a 5’8” guy . I suspect Kevin had to earn his spot in a match with Brody but probably only once. I have heard Sullivan is really tough .
I will go to my grave thinking Kevin was the real key in WCW's rise. Don't get me wrong: There's a lot of credit to go around, many huge contributors, factors, etc. But what made WCW an alternative, what nobody since has copied, is heat and that's what Kevin understood intrinsically. WWE is a babyface company...the flipped very briefly during the AE, but that's what they are and it unfortunately has conditioned fans to hate heat. Today, we get nothing but cool, clever, cute heels and hardcore fans want rosters where they like everybody so no matter what, they go home happy. Kevin knew how to send us home mad and it was great.
Kevin Sullivan the taskmaster, that was one of the greatest characters of all time, in the Boston stump right into the guy stomach, they had to hurt some, I enjoyed watching form 4 years in Mike , Steve Kern, to me they were the best years of wrestling.
Fascinating interview! I wish Kevin Sullivan and Robert Fuller were booking Raw and Smackdown today. Pro Wrestling is about revenge, jealousy, climbing to the top, stealing (or trying to steal) someone’s beautiful woman, making money 💰, and winning the world championship. Let’s base all the stories around that. Sullivan and Fuller could get the job done.
When The NWA belt spent 70% of its time in the Carolinas is when they should have switched from heel champs to face champs . And when WCW crowned its own World Champ it should definitely have been a babyface championship .
Call,, game master mind of,, wrestling great sounds great body builder to,, know what he was,, do god,, bless America for bring guy,, like him, love,, every thing about him
I was a fan of Justin Hawk Bradshaw even though I knew he was Vince’s poor mans Stan “ The Lariat “ Hansen . Vince already cloned The RoadWarriors ( Demolition ) , Vader ( Mantaur ) and Bruiser Brody ( The Berserker )
If I started my own wrestling company I would not call it wrestling . I am old school but most people have never been exposed to old school wrestling . They think wrestling is superheroes in unbelievable conflict . To them THAT IS WRESTLING . I would call it Grappling or Battlesport orsomething else but never Wrestling . Wrestling is dying .
@@donburton7766 Not at all mate I got the phrase from old school bikers don't try to do that shit dude either agree or disagree don't come at me sideways.
Why did Brisco keep having "technical difficulties" while discussing the screw job? Everybody knows Jerry was behind the scenes with Vince during that time..... Just saying.....
Watching this today an hour after hearing of Kevin's passing. Great interview, thanks guys.

What a rib!
Same! What a heel
I'm hoping you guys get The Undertaker and Jim Cornette on here!
Kevin Sullivan is so cool. Im so glad you guys did this one.
Another great interview! It's like friends at a bar just having a good time talking about the good old days.
I know why people say Vince never sells anything but let’s not forget this is the same man who wore a neck brace into federal court
then got drunk at the titty club an ripped it off. they were celebrating the victory.

Task Master looking like a Jedi, or a wizard.
Ray Stevens had great tag partners too . He worked with Pat Patterson on San Francisco and Nick Bockwinkel in Minneapolis .

My favorite show on TH-cam for sure! 💪🍻🤙

Taskmaster Talks is a great podcast!

It's always great to hear another point of view of the Montreal Screw Job!🤟

And the Montreal Screwjob was definitely a work, but it was a hell of a work.
I like hearing Sullivan's thick Beantown (Massachusetts) accent
I watch all these interviews but I will say I love Hannibal TV by far👍👍👍
I love these podcast, but there always appears to be some type of sound distortion.
Kevin had to piss again. At least he turned the camera off this time 😂

Why did Brisco keep having "technical difficulties" while discussing the screw job? Everybody knows Jerry was behind the scenes with Vince during that time..... Just saying.....
