This was a great idea using the muffin tins to freeze the oats. As a heads up what I do is take one of the frozen oats and put it in a 12oz SOLO hot cup (paper-that I got 200 for $9.99 from Costco) in my microwave (1200 watts) on the defrost setting of 1/2 lb. Then I add milk into the cup until it is about 1 1/2 inches below the top and microwave it for 45 seconds more. Fully cooked and ready to go. I do not have frozen fruit in it. I just add a fruit cup after it is done.

On a steel cut oat kick. Been making it just like your recipe. Grateful for the awesome tip with the muffin tin& oatmeal bar. Definitely going to do that on our family camping trips. SOO good, good for you( easy to feed an army on the cheap), and delicious. Thank you 🙏

    LIES!😑
I eat steel cut oats nearly every day. They are an essential part of my diet. Fortunately, I absolutely love them💕. I stumbled across this recipe and thought it would be interesting to try a new method.
    Overview:
I was unaware, until the execution of this method of cooking, that you could absolutely DESTROY Steel cut oats.
After spending an obscene amount of time scraping the burned oat crust out of my crockpot, I begin to transfer the oat slop substance into its respective containers.
It appears that I have completely chemically changed the atomic structure of a steel cut oats into some gelatinous, slimy, inedible oat-like byproduct.
I can’t be sure, but I believe I saw something move inside of the container as I was transferring it for storage. It could have been the Tupperware recoiling in fear, however, I will sleep with one eye open tonight.
Considering sending samples out to the nearest laboratory for further investigation.
    Please be advised.
