Didn't have all the stats in the video, the shoe weighs 9.3 oz for a US M9, 30/24 stack height. Available now for $110 (sorry, got the price wrong in the vid). Thanks for watching! Atreyu fans will probably love the upgrade, or if you have a higher volume foot you'll probably get a better lockdown than we did. In this video, Robbe is wearing the Ibex Wool Aire Hoodie, giving them a shoutout because we've been loving their gear.
I have their Base Trail and Artist. I wish they used the upper in Base Trail in Artist. It is much better upper in my opinion. I have been using Base Trail as a causal shoe while recovering from a hip injury. The feel under foot is comfortable!
Looks like a pair of Van’s skateboard shoes. But I really wanna try a pair. Maybe not this model but I’d give Atreyu a shot. Just got my first pair of Nike Streakfly in the mail. They’re amazing!!
You can get the Puma Volocity Nitro 2 for $73 or less. I never ran in Atreyu, but just looking at build quality alone, the Volocity 2 looks like a no-brainer to me!
I can’t read or hear the word Atreyu without following up “call my name” in my mind. So I appreciate the NeverEnding Story reference. Haha I have nothing else to say. 🤣
I have the base model, the Artist and the base trail...all great shoes at their price point. I really want to like this shoe, but maybe the balance of cost/performance/love for the brand is just a bit off this time? Thanks for the review - love the fact you can compare likes/dislikes and not just one view.
Didn't know they were still around. I still have yet to see any Atreyus out in the wild. The 1st shoe ,base model, looked like they had a 100 mile max life-span. These looked like a better built shoe than the original
So weird. I thought their model was cheap but good. Now they priced themselves in with every other shoe with half the quality. The original was the best. It made so much sense to me. You made a shoe that was about half the price of most other shoes, but people still wanted to wear and use. Perfect. Don't change the business model that is working.
Loved the Base Model V 1.0. Lightweight, simple, fun colors, and unbeatable pricing. Still have two pairs with over 150 miles on them, and still reach for them for my daily runs “4-6 miles”. Tried the Artist, good for the price, but left me wanting a more responsive ride. Curious to see how the Daily Trainer works. Not a fan of the weight gain, but if it means more miles, could be a plus in the long run
Like Robbe, I liked the midsole - it felt really good to me during the whole of an 8 mile run (the longest I did in these). What I didn't get along with is the upper, specifically the toe box; it is really low and my big toe rubbed against it. The tongue is on the warm side too. Other than these aspects, I rather liked the upper. It does look like a street shoe, which could be a plus if it's your style.
Named after the band and still surprised their label hasn't come after them... Robbe...if you're getting hot spots all over, you can't be in love with it...that's blister city if it's your actual daily trainer.
Kept saying it's 120 but it's 110 (shipping included) and 10% off if you sign up for the newsletter - so you can get into this shoe for a 100 + sales tax. I wouldn't mention it but you made such a big deal about it in the video - seems worth a retraction. It's not 85 for the base model of course. Agree that it also looks great as a street shoe. Tempted on that alone.
You mention price point a lot and compare it to other daily trainers. But in your "first thoughts" video for the Tracksmith Eliot Runner you barely mentioned price point or cheaper daily trainers. This seems like bias...
Have they begun being a serious company? It's going to take years, most likely never, until I get a pair of Atreyus. It's still a "China company" in reality in how the quality and feel is.
They were always a serious company, and the “feel” is an incredible ride (robbe even says that in the video), so to call them a “Chinese company” seems like a step too far imo
@@calebdyer8694 I've run in the base model when they just startet and the Artist when it was pre-releaced. And then they desided not to sell to most of the world, giving a S... about the feedback they had been given. Thats the actions of a softcity coffeshop company, not a serious running shoe bussiness.
They are a series company as much as a low budget operation could be. They are making some choices like limiting color choices, materials, marketing and carrying a stock etc. It is hard to build business against big budget operations. I bought two shoes from them (Artist and Base Trail). I hope they can grow and offer better products. They are a Chinese company as much as Nike is a Chinese company. Nike, Adidas, Puma etc. all produce in China or Vietnam these days. Designed in Austin, produced in China/Vietnam like many other products that you use daily.
@@iberiksoderblom what are you using then and where are they made? Btw, do you call Adidas, Puma, Nike "China company" since they use those production facilities? Or is it just Atreyu because they are not just big enough?

It’s actually $110!
Those birds are so damn loud!!😂
This was the nicest demolition of a shoe I’ve ever seen. Well done gentlemen. 😂
Will say though, just checked and I am seeing $110 on their site.
Sounds like somebody is salty they fell for the tracksmith hype.

Put in well over 50 miles and really liked the shoe. Felt fast and nimble for a daily trainer. I really hated the base model too

Its got a run commute to the office vibe
Like for Thomas and Robbe. Thanks for this information about the Atreyu. A nice day for everyone. 🌞🏃🌞
Larry David would love these.
" Pretty, Pretty, Pretty Good"

Full price, better options around, but at sale price (base model V2 on sale = $59), definitely worth considering

This brings up a question. Why? Their original had the pitch of a simple shoe, low price and a subscription model. Not sure why this one

Reminds me of old school airwalks.
Yes! I couldn’t put my finger on it.
Lots of surveillance pigeons in this one 😂…they are on to you guys for speaking up!!!
Nice shoe to wear with jeans. Definitely doesn’t look like a shoe you’d work out in.
Named after the band and still surprised their label hasn't come after them...

Kinda rambler, but you guys got all your thoughts out awesome good stuff
I heard Atreyu made a nice Vans for $120. Got it
I got the base trail shipped here in Italy. Bad upper, from a shaping/modelling point of view. Here the shape of the upper is a identical. No way.
Nike invincible #1 love hate . Love the ride , hate the upper
Same.
Better than the first version, but doesn’t seem to roll very well
if your foot is sliding around you may usually need a half size down
Toes would be smashed if we went a half size down
Nice jacket Robbie.
It’s $110 btw

We corrected it in the description and in our comment
Haha everything you disliked about this I loved.
0:29 You guys should have talked to Atreyu people before making the video. You got their product line wrong.
You mention price point a lot and compare it to other daily trainers. But in your "first thoughts" video for the Tracksmith Eliot Runner you barely mentioned price point or cheaper daily trainers. This seems like bias...
We literally say this is a better shoe than Tracksmith for the money
You literally didn't even get the price right.
