Australia bubbling under the surface. Delighted for them.
When you look at the wc game against wales they played a year ago - what a switch.
I knew Joe would come through. He's just getting started. Eddie Jones is just a faded memory now. Great recovery and greatest improvement for a team this year. Just goes to show things can change quite fast.
    Stay strong wales 💪

I have been watching the Wallabies from Africa for 42 years I told people after that 2nd half against the AllBlacks in Sydney in Septemebr that the Wallabies were on the rise. The main reason is that guys on the the very good 2018 / 2019 under 20 Australian side are coming of age . McReight, Tate McDermitt, Ikitau, Lolesio, Frost , Wilson , Faessler were all on that team. History might be repeating itself because the 1984 Wallabies squad had its core quite a few of the "invincibles" of the 1978 Australian schoolboys that goure the UK and had Mark Ella as their trigger man

Joe is doing a remarkable job rebuilding the Wallabies culture. He’s got a sharp mind for the game and has a very humble approach - just what the Aussie team needed. One can sense the pride, the confidence, and the commitment building game by game. Another couple of seasons heading in this direction and the Wallabies will be formidable.

Well this looks most likely (barring Devine intervention next week) like not winning a single game in 2024. What other coach in world rugby would survive that?
The fact that we’re even talking about Gatland staying on at this point is remarkable.

    • @Formakiwi
      @Formakiwi 28 นาทีที่ผ่านมา

Gatland is the least of their worries. There's a parlous lack of quality in Welsh rugby at every level; the URC regions are woeful and have been for years. The relative competitiveness of the Welsh national side over the last 10-15 years largely belied a desperate state of affairs below the national setup. Gatland's previous stint was the most successful they've ever had, but not even their most successful coach could make a winning team out of this lineup of plodders.

First record broken was most points scored by Australia in Cardiff. Second record broken was most loses in a row by Wales with 12.
But hey on the plus side we play the boks next week so there definitely no chance wales manage to lose every game in a calender year right... rught?
I suppose it could be worse though we could have today by 34 points without scoring a single try. That would be awful 😉.

Sacking Gatland won't turn Wale's fortunes around unless there's a solid plan to take them forward but have they got the players, the coaches and the structures. Going from world no.1 team in 2019 to where they are now is a weird achievement of sorts!

    • @xxwales15xx33

We do have the players in my opinion but you have to look how much Australia have improved since Schmidt got here, and he's only been in the job for 4 months! Gatland has completely lost the dressing room and it shows.

@@alexpughpt7301they shouldn't have sacked Pivac. He was most of the way through a wide-ranging revamp of the team's culture and playing style, much as Dave Rennie was with Australia when he was similarly dumped. The unseemly race back to their respective comfort zones with rushed reappointments of Gatland and Jones respectively has been a disaster for both teams.

  • @joshf5826
    @joshf5826 5 ชั่วโมงที่ผ่านมา +9

I mean yeah the coaching has some responsibility but looking at our guys it’s on the whole WRU. The lads don’t look as big or powerful as other tier one nations and the clubs have had quite a bit of turmoil. Can imagine the pathways haven’t been treated well so development is behind the other home nations. The best upcoming Welsh players ended up playing for England on the wing. We lucked in on a golden generation papering over the long growing cracks. Hope Gats can turn it around but who knows now.
But on a positive note isn’t it great see the old Aussies on the rise again after so long. Hope they keep getting stronger from here

I am usually the last one to call for the sacking of a coach; calls for the firing of a coach are usually emotional and does not take into account the ups and downs you get when you've lost some of your best players.
But the Welsh have got to decide at which point enough is enough. They pushed Australia close earlier this year in two competitive games overseas, but now was absolutely demolished by a Wallabies team that looked lightyears ahead of them.
I suppose the only reason why I won't fire Gats if I had been in charge, is the simple question of "then what?". Who do you want to replace him with? And who will be willing to accept that job? How long a grace period are you willing to give this hypothetical incumbent coach?
If you went and picked, I dunno, Steve Hansen or Jake White as head coaches and you could get Felix Jones as your second in command. Do you think with THIS team you would do any better? Or could it be that the players simply need to get a little more time to deliver?
I honestly don't know, but Wales are at situation critical right now.

Told you! I congratulated Australia in your preview match before the game was even played. Gatland needs to go!
I think what's becoming evident now is one of two things. Either Gatland is out of ideas or he never was the main man responsible for Wales previous success, Shaun Edwards was. It's probably a combination of both to be honest.
On the actual game. There were 2 players for Wales that looked good. Tom Rogers and Jac Morgan. I felt so sorry for Rhodri Williams. He put in this beautiful 50-22 only for the boys to cough it up at line out.
That being said, Australia obviously deserved winners, played really well. Tom Wright is a star full back! Hell of a player. The only area that I could see Wales looked a bit better than Australia was the scrum. But we couldn't make anything from it.
Ahh.. Reminds me of Welsh rugby before 2005 again.

Difference between the 2 teams is the standard of coaching and Australia are leagues above us in that regard in terms of game-management, quick thinking in critical moments and controlling the momentum of the game and that's all thanks to Schmidt. 40 of the 52 points Australia scored they hardly had to work for them as we either gave them a free run in from an interception or give away a cheap penalty for them to effortlessly maul their way over. Rugby is all about momentum and we cannot gain it to save our lives.

There is alot of people defending Warren Gatland -but i think they are very misguided. "players are not good enough!" - well there's rhys carre, macs page and could of been IFW (lost to england) if he wouldn't of slagged him off. He must go. simple.

Joe Schmidt is doing a FANTASTIC job with the Wallabies! Exactly what he did with Ireland. In the mean time questions must now be asked about Gatland, Borthwick and Robinson. Not exactly recent records to be proud of. Well done Wallabies!

Wales stsrted poorly but finished the hslf strong. Looking to be a close game but sfter the red card Aus went up another gear and mauled over Wales. Then Wales had to force it too much. Solid win from Aus but Wales are in their dark era and it ain't getting bright any time soon.

Welsh fan. Think we need to keep the patience. Very very young team. 6N will be the best indication of where we are. Gats always admits that Autumn's are for experimenting with. Also, I remember a time when we NEVER beat the southern hem teams. Odd change of opinions. WRU does need a real kick up the backside, mind you. Needs to go back to being a proper working class regional sport and not copying the Irish / Scottish model. You've got my backing Gats, and if you leave, I'll be placing blame at WRU door

@TwoCentsRugby Yea see many similarities in Oz / Wales. I'd then argue that we are now not quite as good as them, because generally speaking, we have a much smaller base of players to chose from. But isn't it great to see Scmhidt do well. I've given the majority of Irelands success down to him. And I'd hoped (because I love them) he'd become next NZ coach. Hope Oz now back him and get behind him. They'll be a headache for you lot in the coming years, IMO.

And if someone doesn't work out what yellow and red cards are for and what the TMO is for then I am going to Screeeeeeeeeeeeeeeem!!! I see no consistency in the slightest. The other two things I noticed were that Australia's interplay has stepped up big time and Michael Hooper as pundit is looking a lot scrawnier than Michael Hooper as a rugby player.

This has been coming - we're not surprised in Wales, I hate to say. It'll get much worse too - we'll get torn from limb by South Africa next week then we're looking at another wooden spoon in the 6 nations. The sport has been dying here for some time - I think we might be witnessing the last few breaths.

It's down to skill, experience and hard work, which is Sadly lacking at present.
Well done Australia, You are coming together very well..
