One of my favorite movies. I’ve seen this so many times and still tear up at this part. They were such a cute couple on and off screen during this movie.
It's kinda like "Beauty and the Beast" in this scene, especially when Shannon kisses and says she loves her Joseph. One of my favorite music scores from John Williams playing in the background is an added plus.

They had me kick Tom Cruise right before this scene bringing him near death. He staggered to the ground and layed down where they filmed this scene. I told him after a few minutes, "Alright, I'll allow you to live", and his spirit returned to his body.
I seen a lot of movies but this is my favorite I love this movie I looked everywhere for it and it finally came on Turner Classic Movies but I had to let it go I couldn't afford it TV companies are making a fortune charge of people for each individual Channel and special for movies they doing to people I mean there's a war on in some countries and people need a little relaxation they need to stop they need to stop price gouging people same as Prime now they got commercials on charging you to watch Prime they got commercials on everybody's hope to make a dollar someday their troubles will come in they will get their comeuppance charging people for every little thing
The ending of Far And Away got a lot of heavy backlash due to the idea of Joseph's spirit somehow retuning to his body after he had his severe head injury caused by that prick Stephen. Yet, it works because Joseph has endured nothing but hardship after hardship since the film commenced. Here, he finally gets the ultimate reward and his resolving surefire peace that he'll have his very own land, which he will share with Shannon, who'll most likely be the future Mrs. Donnelly. The ending functions well due to the fact it would have been overwhelmingly downbeat with Joseph dying and Shannon ending up with the idiot Stephen. Besides, Joseph and Shannon are really nice together in total honesty. (Unfortunately, Tom Cruise and Nicole Kidman split in real life, therefore causing a harsh reality contrast with the appealing sentimentality of the depiction of Joseph and Shannon). It's unique to watch two people like Joseph and Shannon be compatible for each other and we unhesitatingly root for them to be together.
The other guy was a way better choice. He treated her and her parents very well. She rejected this awesome guy just because Tom Cruise was slightly better looking.
Nah, she was just another possession to Chase. Joseph was willing to fight & die for her because he truly loved her. Men like that are harder to find than rich men.
