Klay in Dallas will surprise most people in how well he does, Kyrie will play a big part in that.
I’m worried about the defensive tho he a different defender than Derrick jones jr
Jones was guarding different positions and different play types
I don’t think klay have that versatility
Plus the hustle plays like diving for balls and shit like that

They added Klay Naji & Grimes. All amazing 3poimt shooters and defenders even though klay has slightly digressed but still great roster and one of the deepest bench ITL. Also spence, great ball handler and can create shots and clutch and was a huge part of that 2022 WCF run. Also a 7’5 defensive stopper. They were just a few pieces away from beating Boston and I think they’ll be able to this time with hopefully a HEALTHY Luka and Kyrie getting over the hump. Whoever they met, I think they will beat. They should be the favorites, no doubt💯💯

Klay doesn't have the legs at his age to be doing all that movement offensively and play defense klay need to adjust and be a spot up shooter

I’m no where near the player these professionals are and my right kills me every time I step on the court of my local gym. I can only imagine playing ball all my life, rolling ankles and all.. my legs would age in dog years.

They gotta use Luka like Lebron; put pressure on the rim at all times. I think Gafford is the man out if they want to use Klay correctly. They gotta need a stretch big like Kleber to be effective. The biggest issue for Dallas is team shot creation, and player needing their touches. Klay is going to be similar to Mike Miller or Kevin Love. Dallas has to mirror Cleveland 2016 or Heat 2012 for success
Last proved they can play d but their offense got holes in it. Klay can guard the best wings, plus they added Quentin Grimes for that too. Naji Marshall too, hopefully not too much of dropoff without Derrick Jones. Mavs will be back in the mix next year.

@@JonathanWoodall so you rather Luka or Kyrie use their energy on that, where they are better off focusing on offensive side of the ball. It’s better to be a master at your role than juggling multiple responsibilities. The team set their course, you should now understand realistic expectations for each player. Playing defense and hitting 3 is Klay role. If Kyrie/Luka can keep a body on weaker links they win a championship it’s that easy
@@getmoney6942 nah, i mean he’s doing to have to some depending on lineups but we have Naji, PJ, and Grimes for wing defense. PJ is most likely going to get the hardest wing matchup in the starting lineup unless it’s rly point of attack focused need. But just because I don’t want Klay on the best wings doesn’t mean I want Luka and Kai. They’re both guards… not wings lol.
biggest issue is not "team shot creation" - it's they have no shooters or defense. They got to the finals because they stepped up both but it was an anomaly - Derrick Jones is not somebody you rely on to knock down 3s. They stopped making open 3s in the finals
Klay said he watched the finals... That's why he chose the mavs cause he would fit perfect. I ll take klay word over these dudes.
First time Mavs went to the finals it was with small ball. They know not wtf they’re talking about.

They beat the Clippers without Kawhi, OKC with Shai who has a single playoff series win and the Timberwolves. They get credit for winning, but let's not act like they were tested. We saw what Boston did to them.

i have a feeling at the end of the season klay might be coming of the bench not because he not playing well just because of fit he will come on for luka and they with change there offence to have more movement with kyre klay it would help them retain more of a threat on offence when luka is sitting and it help luka rest if he can just sit for 2-3 minutes a game
I think klay will be able at some point to get into a rythem as Kyrie and Luka get doubled he will be opened to knock down his 3s.

Klay had to play the way he did because Steph isn’t an elite passer and draymond isn’t a break the defense down off the dribble guy. So klay had to run around screens to get open he won’t have to get open he will be wide open. A top 5 3pt shooter in history will make open spot up shots on a high clip

People don’t realize that Klay isn’t making star player money. He’s making less than 20 million a year. Which means that if he’s stinking it up, they will bench him and he’ll likely play with the second unit. But if he balls out and isn’t even making 20 million a year, then they’ll have a great chance to win it all. Either way, it’s good for the Mavs. If he plays bad, they’ll decrease his role, he’s not getting paid much anyway. If he balls out, then you’re getting tremendous value out of his contract.
